I remember when my dad's job gave him one of theese, what must have been in around 2000. As an 8 year old kid in eastern, post soviet Europe, i havent seen anything like that! I knew they existed, but to actually hold one? Someone said to us that you have to fully dischsrge the battery, before charging, to keep it healthy. That of course ment taking turns with my brother, playing snake for hours and hours and hours, because those batteries lasted for freaking ages. 😂
My Dad had one of these back in the day! I first saw it on him one day when we were visiting London and at one random point he let me play Snake on it! My first cellphone was the Nokia N-Gage, which I got 2 days before I turned 16, but I did play Snake 2 on many friends' Nokia phones in the early 2000s, and on Photo Play 2001 machines in France in 2007 and Holland in 2008!
Haha, wow - yep, this was my first phone as a teen in the mid 90's. We were absolutely obsessed by them - custom covers, custom ring tones, snake, texting etc. Mental we managed to spend so much time playing with something that had barely any functionality but to say it was a novelty would be an understatement! We went from having to call our friends home numbers, to go via their parents, to having instant connectivity any time overnight
This is the first phone we had at home, and essentially the first mobile phone I’ve ever learnt to control. So many memories! 😍 I’ve got one specimen, as well. It’s in a fairly good state, even if not as pristine as yours. As for the screen - that’s actually a a thing with the Nokia 5110 in general, for some reason. If the display seems a bit faded, pressing it on the upper right part usually helps. I used to put a piece of paper underneath the front plate in order to put a bit pressure there and make the display work properly again. 😁 Anyway, fantastic video; thanks for this. I knew I was gonna have a lot of fun on this channel… can’t wait to see the rest. 🤗
I can see now that your issue with the display is pretty much the opposite from what I described above. 😀 Never mind; that’s probably just because of how long it was lying idle. Next time I’ll finish watching till the end before I comment. 🙊
omg this phone was the best. i had this when i was 16, the whole texting thing was mind blowing. And loved getting new covers for it.

Great memories! I never had an N-Gage…. I’m going to have to get hold of one! 🤔
Watch out for the millenium bug when starting those mobile phones from the 90`s! 😁
