Hey Brett, would love to pick your brain about this lens a bit since you've had it for about 8 months and have no doubt used it quite extensively. Mine arrives this week and I'm pretty excited to put it to work. How has it been to work with compared to the 300? Have you used it with a 1.4 or 2x converter? Did the noisy zoom ring ever quiet down? I haven't sold my EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens or teleconverters just yet...I haven't see the most promising performance results online with this lens and the RF 2x, so that has me a bit concerned. This is a big investment for adding utility but losing sharpness. I just felt like I would get a lot more use out of this lens than I do my 300 which is naturally less useful than a zoom. It would at least allow me to travel without a 70-200, 100-500, AND 300mm. I could get away with just this lens, the teleconverters a 15-35, 24-105 f/2.8, and maybe a prime of choice. Thanks for any information, dude.
You produce some great information, keep it up. I am going to bite the bullet and purchase my first fixed long lens for football. What is your suggestion, 300 or 400mm? I'm only doing highschool, not the big leagues like you but want to get the best for my dollar. I will probably go used if I can find what I am looking for. Thanks
Dude....that is soooo amazing. I can only dream of having that lens. What a perfect lens for what I do. How exciting was that unboxing. Enjoy it! Congrats.
Hello, Brett I have an amazing Canon Ef 300mm f/2.8L IS USM II lens and I think I won't be leaving it for a long time. However, the 100-300mm is a truly special lens and I will be looking forward to your experiences with it in the coming days.🤟
@iosuser1174 interesting. I haven’t compared them next to each other yet. The RF 70-200 2.8 is incredibly sharp, the 100-300 has also been incredible in the limited times I’ve used it so far. I plan to do some comparisons though and a review. Interesting to hear they’d say that

Any updates on this lens ? Any review coming up soon or comparisons??
I look forward to your review Brett!
So far I love it! But obviously not much time with it.
Congrats Brett! Sooo nice. My local small camera shop has one in stock. Not an impossible purchase but not easy either. 😂 Maybe one day.
I wasn’t planning on it but it’s so versatile I decided to do it. I thought it wasn’t coming out until the fall
Congrats man, that is a great lens.
Hello, Brett
I have an amazing Canon Ef 300mm f/2.8L IS USM II lens and I think I won't be leaving it for a long time. However, the 100-300mm is a truly special lens and I will be looking forward to your experiences with it in the coming days.🤟
I think you’re right in that assessment. The fact it zooms so much makes it pretty useful but the lens you have is beautiful and performs incredibly.
Price of this lens?
What's the purpose of having the 300 2.8 when this is so versatile?
Mainly cost savings haha. This is quite a bit more. EF mount can adapt to more camera systems as well which is a nice bonus for some.
Is this better than 70/200 Rf 2.8 ???
In that range they are both amazing. But being able to go to 300mm is a pretty big advantage and where this lens sets itself apart.
@@BrettCarlsen I was told by canon guys 100-300 is premium and better out put in terms of sharpness and Bokae compare to 70/200

@@BrettCarlsen yes they even told it matches the quality of 400/600 primes , and cost is also close to 400m f2.8 prime
