    Nice vid Lee, i use the Horus 12S mainly, and have done since it was released and it still has the Fros system on it, i am one of these people who actually like it, and to be honest it is just an off shoot version of Open TX, and before someone jumps in and tells me that i am unwilling to ( stretch myself ) i have also got mt X9 i bought when it was released, (open TX) this is used mainly for my R9 planes, and if that wasn't bad enough i have a X7 (open Tx) that has a multi module in the back that is used for indoor craft, What i am really saying is, if it works for you and you can enjoy setting up and flying your craft, then who cares what you use... :)

    Good work and a useful instructional video for anyone who doesn't get on with Open TX as the process will be similar for many systems. (Yes there are some people who don't)
    I didn't know that you too were Northern :D

    I really hope OpenTX gets to the point of its other platforms with the x10/x10s sooner then latter I have an x10s with OpenTX and it was my first experience with both frsky and OpenTX and with little coverage from the wizard that's on it its bean even more of a steep learning curve for me thanks to you and a few other very knowledgeable opentx users I am navigating the system but your thought are right on point and the software for the x10/x10s is way behind the ball!

    Really interesting, Lee. I didn't know that OpenTX was incomplete for the X10...

    • @ChrisBalmforth
      @ChrisBalmforth 5 лет назад +2

      I think Lee was mainly referring to the lack of wizards for heli and quad when you create a new model with the X10. Also a problem for me is the handling of the screen widgets which make the X10 screen so good. This has to be done from the transmitter individually for each model and is ignored by Companion.

    Great video Lee! I am thinking of converting my X10 back to FR-OS temporarily to help a friend who is struggling with his new X10. He refuses to even contemplate OpenTX! I didn't bother to backup my old SD Card though, so many thanks for the files.

    I must admit, in the days when I used to fly rc helicopters I used a futaba ff7. Had a book and I understood how to setup the radio. Even after a while of not using it. Opentx I find complicated,always googling trying to find out how to do things. Its very powerful, but simple things are too complicated. How to setup throttle cut for example. Not intuitive to setup.

    im wondering how many protocols FrOS covers specifically does it cover horizon hobby's protocol for bind and fly? im not interested in quads at this time. may be in the future so for the sake of simplicity i dont wish to use open TX.

      Only the basic ones for Frsky recievers. You need Opentx and a Multiprorocol module for that. See my videos on it. Happy flying!

    Hi
    I have tried on my Horus x12s FrOs to get it to monitor 12 cell on telemetry screen.
    with two Lipo sensors have tried to change channel on one of them.
    have tried many things.
    It come only 6 cell on the screen.
    Do you have any tips how to make it work
    Regards
    Andrias :)

    Hi Lee. Let me begin with the confession that even though I've been an FrSky user for probably a decade when I put a hack module in my old Royal EVO9, I am a total clod at using it. I have to resort to your videos for almost everything that I do setting up a new model. On to my question-- I bought an X12s second hand last year and it has sat in the box since. I want to transition from my QX7s to the X12s. Would it be insane to flash back to FrOS? I have a bunch of S6R and S8R receivers and Neuron ESC's that I haven't been able to use being too thick to figure out how to use them (I'm reasonably intelligent. I'm an ICU nurse in a busy urban hospital keeping track of a dozen pumps and monitors at a time so I still have a few functioning brain cells but I can't wrap my brain around this). Would it be easier to go back to FrOS to configure and use my stabilizing receivers and Neuron ESC's? Thanks for the great videos!

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  3 года назад

      I don't use FrOS here so I'm probably not the chap to ask. The support for the X10 from OpenTX is very good now and a lot of the X10 compatible radios (RadioMaster/Jumper etc.) use a similar version of OpenTX one their radios now too so lots of time working out the bugs.. Best of luck!

    Was it already the latest version of FrOS that you restored to the X10? Otherwise it may be worth checking out a newer version and what has changed. The firmware of the transmitter module inside the X10(s) is part of FrOS so it may be required to upgrade FrOS (and upgrading the trransmitter module firmware in the same process) even though one is using OpenTX. At least, that's what I read about it in the past...

    Hello "Form Across Pond" I wanted to buy an additional transmitter to leave one at my camp. Looked at all the new stuff and decided to stay with FrSky as I already have two of them. Found a Horis X10S at a good price and bought it. Knowing that I could change it to Open TX. Seemed easy enough. I am using Version 2.3.14 - 2021-7-23 SD Card 480x272.23 3V0038. Followed some on instructions 12-6-2017. All went well and when I was completed i hit the power button and Heard "Welcome to Open TX" but got a message about the throttle. Hit escape and then calibrated the sticks. Powered up again same thing. Checked everything in set up in Open TX. I did find that for some reason if I Hold the Pitch at the bottom and power off the message goes away. It seems like it is on Mode one set up??
    I am really stuck, might you have any ideas? Thank you in advance. Ben Herr - USA

      No idea, I've not looked in ages... I suspect that with the T16 being almost identical the amount of work on the X10 and various T16 versions will be benefiting all of them..

    I don't think you friend is doing the correct thing here. Open TX is much more wide spread and supported than FrOS will ever be, meaning he will be obliged to learn FrOS to a working level with little expectation of personalised help from others. As for the Wizards, they are pure icing on the cake and not essential. It is often better to simply copy an existing model as the basis of a new model. Lastly It is usually the case modellers who are unwilling to stretch themselves will only ever fly simpler models which again feeds back into the points made earlier.

    • @ChrisBalmforth

      I'm a huge OpenTX fan but I acknowledge that it's not for everybody. It's perfect for those comfortable with a PC but setting up a model is totally different from more traditional transmitters. It's not an age thing either, I'm 66 but my friend in his thirties won't even consider flashing Open TX on his new X10. Plenty of younger people are completely at home with a smartphone but clueless about PCs. Personally I think FRSky would expand their market considerably if they sold the Q X7 and it's derivatives with FR-OS!

      I use the same PC to program opentx . no problem. I did run the new version of Zdiag anyway and said replace . The only option after stm32bootloader was winusb to winusb. I selected replace. I installed correctly. I still see a device in device mgr but no USB drive. ( with power off on the radio. ) If i turn radio on I see 2 drives as normal with opentx. I think there is a problem with the current version of Zdiag,
      Any Ideas ( thanks for your help )
