    It drives like a dream and is very smooth. Torque and transmission (gearing) are more important than just HP. It is also efficient. By comparison, I test drove a competitor- it was a 5.6 liter, V8 cylinder with ~400 HP. The GLE is .10th of a second quicker 0-60. That other vehicle also gets 13 MPG in the city. GLE all the way.

    A question: Does every car have to get “longer and wider” to get better? Isn’t that what the next model up in a car line gives you? Can’t it just get lighter and quieter and safer and more drivable and more efficient? The clogged freeways here in southern cal are filled with longer and wider, and even as they make the freeways wider, it just takes longer to get anywhere.
    I think maybe smaller and narrower might be the way to go?

    Must say not having buttons to drop seats at the hatch is incredible at this price point. Even your cheapo korean SSUV's have this. Probably not enough to be a showstopper in itself but gives me ALLOT of pause as to what other engineering misgivings are present throughout the rest of this vehicle. Why would anybody buy this? At this price, one can by a loaded BMW X5 M with the 350 HP inline six that has legendary reliability and performance. It will destroy this thing. Saw a video of a X5 going 170 mph in Germany. A freaking SUV.

    Stupid question maybe, but what happens if you break the screen or the electric dies (let’s be real...electric issues happens with Mercedes) and your screen doesn’t work? Do you just play the guessing game with how fast you are going and everything else until you can get someone to replace or fix your screen/electrical? I guess it’s not that different from when one of our old cars had the gas gauge break and we had to guess when the fuel was about to be gone, but still. The technology seems amazing, but I would be so anxious of driving and having that whole computer screen just blacking out on me.

      @@iquattro1167 Yes but go to one of the larger Penske dealerships. They are a huge volume dealership. The one I used was North Scottsdale BMW in AZ. I live in New Mexico and didn't like my local dealer for many reasons. But when I shopped online I found TWO models I was looking for at that dealer. The one I wanted had the mocha leather, luxury package, nav, panoramic roof, xDrive all the safety sensors, 19 inch wheels, Harnon Kardon/sub upgrade, etc.. I think they had over 100 X3's at that time on the lot. And they are very organized and and very aggressive to get you the best price. My local dealer hates penske and even told me so lol. But I got two rebates for financing (put half down), another thousand dollars rebate because I owned a 2012 Sentra (go figure but there was something they actually did to do that), and over 2K dealer discount. It all came to just over 7 grand less. They even had somebody go to my house in New Mexico to do all the signing along with some email signing etc.. Dealer organized NM title and sales tax. All I had to do was hire a transport online to bring vehicle to house. That unfortunately is the cost of not having a penske dealer in town. That was 600 dollars. Everything went smooth as butta. The X3 has been a great SSUV. This latest generation really stepped it up several notches from the old model in 2018. The bi turbo and ZF 8 speed is a beautiful tune. IMO, BMW perfected the SSUV in this model. All the weak points on this benz are non existent in the bimmer. Quality coming out of the plant in South Carolina is impressive. And they are one of the biggest exporters of cars in the United States.
      Now at the Mercedes dealership the sales person said sorry we don't have much margins to work on and can't really offer any discounts. They quickly pissed me off and I left with them at my heals begging me to stay lol. But they still offered absolutely NOTHING. From what I'm hearing from owners and reviewers the X3 is a smart buy. Its a well engineered SSUV with good reliability. Plus its gets great MPG. I get the advertised MPG. 23 city and 30 HWY. This was well executed by BMW and top of class for a premium SSUV. I've even told owners of the new Accura RDX that they made a HUGE mistake. In base trim the RDX makes sense. But the advanced model (top of line) still fails in build and materials next to my X3. It's not at the same level . Not even remotely so. And fools pay up to 45K for for a loaded RDX. Not saying everyone may get the same killer deal I did but its worth a try. Much rather pay 47K and get the real deal then a Japanese wannabe Premium SSUV. Plus the BMW will get you better performance and much better MPG's then the Accura. BMW really knows how to make high performance boosted motor with good MPG. In fact the Germans in general make really good small boosted motors. The only multi gear transmission I trust in modern cars is from ZF. And the one in the X3 is made in Belgium.

They should be told that it would only add class to their designs and be more practical for the drivers... After all they charge for their vehicles, adding $100 fog lights won't matter much.. :(

    A beautiful car but hardly a difference from my 2013 Mercedes Ml350 blue tech diesel. I love it and right now you can’t get anything else like it in a Mercedes. The engine difference is huge. 455 ft lbs of torque and I get 30 mpg on the highway and 24 around town. The 2020 does not measure up.

      Try it... if no one told you, you probably wouldn't know it was a 4 cylinder. In Europe, there were S Classes with less powerful engines. Besides, that's why Mercedes makes the 350,450, 580, and 63 along with diesel power trains in other markets... there's something for everybody.

    The fact that you even mentioned exhaust tip location is a big turnoff. Why not point out the size of the glove box too. How about size of door storage in the back? Buyers of these cars don't give a second glance at where the smoke comes out of a car. Focus on more important options.

    It's more than a little bit of a disappointment that M-B would incorporate the use of so much plastic in both the interior and exterior of the car for the asking price. Also the plastic kinda cheapens the M-B legacy, if you know what I mean.

      My BMW X3 Xdrive bi turbo 2.0 cost 47K. And its loaded. Full leather, HK/sub stereo, full digital dash with all the saftey sensors (blind spot warning etc..) 19 inch wheels, panoramic sunroof, real dual exhaust, ZF 8 speed, full digital dash.. basically like this car. About the same amount of HP torque as well. 47K was still too much but that was with 7K in discounts from oem and dealer. Mercedes does not deal much. This SSUV is not worth the MSRP. Not even remotely so. IMO, if you want a German designed SSUV the X3 is a best for the money. And they are very reliable now. The plant in South Carolina makes over 400K vehicles a year. And its one of the biggest car exporters in the US. That plant makes 1400 vehicles a day. I don't think Mercedes has the economy of scale like BMW does. The SC BMW plant is a huge success story for BMW.

    I noticed on my loaded X3 that the floor mats are cheap like on this. Ended up getting the weathertechs for all floors and also to protect the back cargo area. And they came in the same color as the Mocha leather seats. IMO, the luxury makes always cheap out on the floor mats. And no buttons near hatch to drop seats? I mean really Mercedes? That a big big zonk. This car does not offer much more then my loaded X3 Xdrive. No way I'd pay 73K. Mercedes does not deal much which I found out. The depreciation would be brutal buying something like this. Bad enough that I paid 47K for my Bimmer but I got 7K discounted to get to that price. But I still have all the upgrades this one has. For a hell of allot less money. My Mercedes dealer was like no rebates, no dealer discounts no nothing. And they were begging me for a sale but offered absolutely nothing in negotiation. By far the worst experience I had on all the cars I researched.

      Mercedes dealers do offer deals. It depends on the time of the year. It appears you only visited ONE dealer. You have to shop dealers who are 25 to 35 miles from your location.

    • @HiPlains1
      @HiPlains1 5 лет назад +1

      @@VM-dd2le I also preferred the X3 Xdrive's interior over the GLC I looked at. GLC had no touch screen and the center stack was more cluttered. Really can't stand how they put a little touch pad thingy on top of the dial. Also the X3 has a better rear design with more room. The GLC has that lower roof line towards the back. It does not make it look any better then a X3 but it takes away space for what Mercedes design language. Of all the dealers I went to the Mercedes was the worst. The least professional and it was amateur hour at best. The young sales boy did not listen, always pushed models I was not interested in and never wanted to offer any reasonable discounts of any kind. If I had really liked the GLC I would have shopped other dealers. Probably brought one in from Arizona. As it were, I bought my X3 from Northside BMW in AZ and saved 7K.
