Getting into your skill set late in life. I’ve been to a range with a pro here in my area, just can’t afford to go back. I used a long bow, I think 40-50lb, don’t recall. My question to you would be, if I want to better my skills, for hunting, fun target shooting, etc, what should I focus on, long or recurve, or Compound? Length of arrow, wood or carbon, specifics on some basics. I’m just a bit lost on what to buy to move forward as I’m single dad on a major budget in this economy. Thanks for your help!
Great question!! All though I have never shot long or recurve bows only compound, my knowledge is very directed towards compound set-ups. Best advice I can think, is to just find one you have fun doing and find a love for. Shops will let u shoot and teach you correct ways to shoot if they are a good business. You don’t have to have the most expensive gear to be good , research find what’s in your price range and then just get started!!! And if your kid is old enough find a cheaper Walmart bow and I will tell u that’s what my dad started me on and we had some of my favorite memories in the woods!! I hoped this helped a little , and I know once you start you’ll love every second!! Welcome to the community!!
