Amazing vid as always dad. I’m so pleased you liked and used the Christmas gift I gave you ( the wok and bowls he used). The stir fry looked delicious I wish I could have been there to taste some xx
Yes Ceri ,your Christmas gift of the wok and bowls proved really useful, the food was delicious, plenty of chances to accompany me with the children when the weather improves,Daddy x
I just think people haven’t come across it unfortunately- I just came across it myself and subscribed immediately so I feel like eventually it will catch on and he will have a huge following- if not I’ll be confused- these videos are awesome!
what amazes me is...there are no other people foraging on the beach. Im from Oregon and you have to fight for a spot on the sand during a good clam tide. Love the videos.
Great video sir ! It’s very satisfying to harvest and cook a meal, especially outdoors. Whether foraging, fishing, or hunting, the end result takes you back to man’s roots as hunter-gatherers. Thanks for sharing your experience ! 🍺
Coastal Foraging With Craig Evans I do a lot of shore fishing down that way stunning part of the world do you ever collect spider crab at worms head when there in the water was thick with them last year cook them like Rick stein just a fire bed of sea weed fish/molluscs then another layer of sea weed and it steams them .. Best way of eating any food fresh and the smell of the sea air. Keep up the good work :)
Hi 253will, this video was meant to be filmed on the Worms Head causeway ,but storm Eleanor put paid to that. I intend to make a few videos around the Gower this year also.regards Craig.
Love watching you reap the rewards after a hards day of foraging. Keep adding the meal portion where you guys eat the food to really show how delicious your food is! Love the channel!
I really feel like I'm right there... feeling the rocks, smelling the feast, hearing the waves, the wind, the smoke... and hearing you speak your love of your home and nature 😊 Thank you, again and again for bringing me along! I had such a good time and yes... success!!👍🐟🦀🐌🐚🍃☘🌬🌊
That looked so nice m8 , you are doing the world a favour for showing everyone if you have no money you can always get a meal for free lol , great work bro love your vids
Many thanks Clint Byl,in the past many people would have to supplement their diet by means such as this-this knowledge is now mostly lost, regards Craig.
Thank you ryangallo08, Kris has done all the filming and editing to date ,I feel he is doing a great job and I am really grateful for his help and support.Regards ,Craig.
Wonderful, wonderful video. West wales is one of my favourite parts of the world. Terrific food, the best scenery, lovely accents. I love watching these videos. The only shame is I’m English, and for various reasons the English are ‘tolerated’ but not liked. But I still love to explore the lakes, mountains, restaurants, history, beaches and people. It was always my dream to retire to Wales. That will never happen.
I love all of your videos! They’re so interesting and I love watching the cooking of everything collected that day. Always a bit of humor in there too, not quite one of your vids without it!
Thank you kind sir! My husband and I learned something today about foraging along a coast. I came up with seafood medley! When you opened the scallop and described the sweetness of it, I kind of was wishing I could have a taste also. Again thank you!
I know I'm late on commenting on your videos but, I ran up on these and I can't stop watching them. You are a very resourceful man,and I love seafood so it's amazing to see you take the small pleasures from the sea and turn it into a feast. Fantastic! You make great videos,,,I wish you would make more!
Coastal Foraging With Craig Evans , I want to say more more more, but I do understand you have a life (a truly great one) just know i, and certainly many others, just wait to see you pop up and we clear the decks in order to really enjoy the experience. Thanks again👍😆🦀
Wow!!! Really beautiful place to be and the things you find. Love stuff like this and love seafood too. The big sea shell is beautiful...thank you for sharing.
Great comment Robert, much appreciated ,thank you. Most people on the coast would supplement their diet like this before the industrial revolution. Cooked and pureed seaweed is still a popular food and a cultural icon here in West Wales. It is known as Laver Bread or Bara Lawr in Welsh. It can be readily bought in shops and supermarkets,it is extremely nutritious . It is made from Porphyra Umbilicalis ,it is a very similar species that the Japanese use as Nori. Regards Craig
Your videos are amazing, I never was interested in hunting/foraging/fishing but these videos are making me interested in doing it myself, thank you for posting.
I am lucky enough to have spent many years searching for the best areas to forage and know where it is most likely to find my target foods.Cockles tend to be found in beds at the same locations year on year, they like to live in quite sheltered sandy or sand/mud areas where they are not subject to too much disturbance from waves and rough seas.As they are immobile there would also need to be enough food for them provided a sufficient water/tidal current.Kind regards Craig
Coastal Foraging With Craig Evans awesome. Thank you. Your videos are very inspiring . I have been out foraging myself after watching you and your dog is awesome. ..x
I've seen a video of a Japanese street vendor frying up fresh scallops in their own shell, and that's been something I really want to try. I read on my local official clam site that you shouldn't eat clams you find partially open because it might have contaminants. The clam you found here was open, do you worry about that?
Hi Nightfangfox, thank you for your concern and a very good point. Normally if you find a clam on the sand with its shell open,it is normally dead and may contain contaminants or be decomposing/decomposed and would be a serious health hazard. This should be avoided at all costs. However the large clam we found ,the soft shell clam (mya arenaria) was washed up alive after storm Eleanor. Soft shell clams can never fully close their shells , There is no need, as they live buried in the sand/mud up to a depth of 40 cms .They have a thin membrane between the shell to seal in their bodies. The clam we found was alive and fully closed. The only issue was that a seabird had started to eat the end of its unretractable long siphon (the damaged part was cut away)-thank you for a great relevant comment ,Kind regards ,Craig.
Such a great video. Growing up my dad would always tells us stories about his mom and grandma picking cockles so it was really nice to see how it was done.
Thank you Siani,if you live locally you may like to try gathering them yourself, they are delicious and it's great to get out on our beaches.Regards Craig
Just watch two of your guys videos and I’m on my third. I really enjoy your videos. Super calming and informative. I love how you explain all the creatures.

Ceri Evans he's your dad? Lucky! Do you ever go with him?
Yes I’m very proud to say he is my dad 😊

This guy could survive a nuclear war. His knowledge is extraordinary - we should all take note.

Forgive me for asking what might be a simple question, but how do you tell that the clams were alive?
Quite simply because they will not open their shells when prised and the fact that they move when handled.,regards Craig
