Hey guys and welcome to todays video where I want to share with you the results of a survey which decided the worlds best sunscreen 2022. If you would like more information about the study let me know but its behind a Geman paywall which my friend accessed on my behalf but I can share more info... So what do you think, is this the best sunscreen or do you think there are better ones on the market? Love you xxxxx
Is this the latest study of „Stiftung Warentest“? If so, I can access it pretty easily bc my parents, good German people they are 😂😂 have a subscription to that publication. I could share some of the results in the FB group then! Love you!
I am wondering whether they still sell an older version of the rebranded Garnier sunscreen in the UK or whether they will even continue to do so, because the sunscreen tested in Germany contains five different filters which are all chemical/organic. It's not a hybrid sunscreen and contains no octocrylene, which was front and centre in the older version.....
You have slowly climbed up to my favorite skin influencer. I just love your energy and your delivery. I can tell from your reactions and voice that your are passion and when a product is good. It’s for that reason I stick to your recommendations
Yes! Agreed, the passion is the selling point for me. Obvious genuine and without a doubt your info has shaped 70% of my routine, and plan to order more MAS. You're doing what you love, happy for you!
It's shocking to see how far this brand has come... I always considered Garnier as a "cheap" brand. I guess I was wrong or they have massively improved their products. Either way, good for them and for us consumers!
I know what you mean, they were the brand I went for when I had no money in my teens but now I realise their new formations are actually really really good.. love you xx
I just bought this, tested it and it’s sooo good! I have acne prone skin but so far so good! It’s around 13 euros in Finland but you get lot of product. Love this and love you! 💕
Best recommendation from u! Bought this sunscreen after your video. Used to buy Korean ones..and this is as lightweight as K brands. Great buy! Tried the kids version and it has less frangrance. Even better!
Hi Rob! I bought this sunscreen a while ago…on your recommendation, of course. 😁. I love it and use it every day on my hands and arms. The scent is beautiful and light. Still using Beauty of Joseon on my face though! ❤️ Hope you’re staying cool! Big hugs ❤️❤️❤️
I have recently purchased the Garnier Advanced Sensitive Ceramide Protect 50+: contrary to the Protect 24, it has no perfume and leaves a much less noticeable shiny look. It does not irritate my eyes. I find it is a much better option than the heavily scented and shiny Protect 24. 😊
Hi Rob for some reason my skin isn't keen on Garnier spf's - even on the body. I bought a childs spf50 for use on the body last year and it really irritated my skin causing a rash. For me they're not the world's best spf lol. Skin type, skin conditions and environment all play a role in what suits each of us and thankfully there is a plethora of choice available. Even here in Scotland it's been really hot lately (reaching over 30 degrees plus) and whilst I have hidden indoors some days with the fan on, there have been times I have been outside and my choice has been my old reliable favourite Ultrasun. Ultrasun doesn't cause a rash for me and is my choice for water resistant high UV protection. Even my fitzpatrick one, prickly heat prone, rosacea and eczema prone skin hasn't turned at all pink and my freckles have not darkened - it's a winner for this type of weather for my skin. Using it day in day out on my face doesn't however really work out due to my rosacea and it can cause dryness/irritation (my rosacea isn't all that keen on chemical filters used daily). By using something else eg a mineral spf on the days I'm mostly indoors that solves any issue this might cause, allowing me to use the chemical spf when I really need it. Best wishes.
@DavidGreg 1184 I'm sorry this isn't the forum for looking for a penpal. If you have a question about my comment on skincare I'm happy to answer, but otherwise this is a bit weird. Best wishes to you but I'm done with this chat.
I actually use Umbra Solaire Hydra 24 spf50 as a body sunscreen. I tried to use it on my face but it stung my eyes. The "tired" sensation to straight up "urgh it hurts" feeling. Which is a shame because it really is hydrating and I feel it protects you well.
I’ve spent so much money on face sunscreen. It either leaves my face looking greasy under my foundation - and I have dry skin, smells funky or somehow gets in my eyes and burns. I’ve almost given up trying to find something that works. I’ll give this a try.
Sounds like a brilliant product. I’m wondering if it stains white clothes? We’ve got a similar product from Nivea at the moment (same SPF, price, hybrid formula etc) and it’s been horrendous for staining clothes.
How did it stain?? What color did it leave behind? Im currently stuck in a sunscreen conundrum!! The LRP pills so bad and the others are wayyy to greasy!!! So when I wear makeup I just use the greasy one and soak it up with givenchy or my IT poreless powder (def more so the it powder) I also have sweaty OILY SKIN and live in a very humid environment! So I’m def excited to try this! I use the neutrogene sweat resistant one on my arms and legs it’s 100 spf 😱 which is great but I’ve been scared to try it on my face bc of break outs and def scared of pilling!
I was surprised to find out Garnier was a German brand. It is a holy grail across Mexico with such heavy marketing that is the most stocked brand on Mexican shelves. Their hair products saved me from frizzy hair growing up.
I have a cheap German one from their CVS type store. I could pour it in my eyeball and it'd be fine. Hydrating but not greasy. Just great and it's $3/60ml. Incredible.
Rob you've done it again. I'm so going to have to look up this sunscreen. Brilliant video as usual. I'd go out today and get it, but I've just ordered a haul of altruist sunscreen s from Lloyds pharmacy with their discount. Good call. Will have to let friends and family know about this one 😉👍
Great video Rob. I have purchased this Garnier sunscreen. Unfortunately it's not for me as its too fragrenced for my face - going to stick to Altruist and Dear Klairs all day airy sunscreen which suit my face much better. However I will keep this one and use it for my arms and hands. Thanks for such great video's xx
Well...well... Well... quite surprised about this particular product from Garnier??!!!!... I love their UV defense for the face 👍... Garnier has too many options so I guess that's why this one just slipped my attention..... Thanks Rob?

Do you think this would be suitable for oily skin? Formula looks quite rich with the Shea butter. Breakouts are always my main consideration for sun screen after protection.
I wouldn’t put this on my face. With the exception of Mexoryl SX this product consists of old fashioned filters. Fine for the arms and legs though. Don’t forget to reapply regularly.

I got my phone out with the intention of scrolling through your videos to find said video, and THIS was the first one that came up. Needless to say I bought this one xx
I've used Superdrug Solait for years factor 30 5* uva and they also do in sensitive and a tan maximising formula just like ultrasun, 7.99 usually buy one get one half price, it's light and never had trouble with it under makeup 😁🌞
Thanks, I love Garnier products. They're so Rich, with a delicate scent. They remind me of the expensive brands, at the department stores. I own one of their moisturizer's, it's SPF 30 for the face. 🌿☺️
I think the one they sell in the us has lousy sun filters....and it's hard to find the spf 50 from europe, I see the 30 spf from europe, but not the 50.....I need higher than 30 on daily basis....darn...
Have you tried the black girl sunscreens? I head they are pretty good. Od course they don't have the newest European filters because of US laws but what can you do. Also the Korean and Japanese SPFs are pretty easy to get in America from what I know
@@MadAboutSkin Yes the U.S. Is turning back the clock in all ways that Are important....I want to move to europe, but not sure where. Love London, but it's pricey...maybe a little english village....Pricey as well...
Hi Rob! Fabulous in depth view of this product, thank-you! I myself have been using Lidls Cien brand of sun cream. (the children's sun factor 50) which is nice but after watching you discussing this brand, I'll be purchasing Garnier next time, probably the sensitive hypoallergenic one. Again, thankyou for another brilliant and most enjoyable upload! 😘👌
I have been using it for a while now. Love it. I apply it after my cerave with urea facial moisturizer as I have dry skin. I apply approx 15min after my cerave. I love cerave, pity cerave sunscreen is expensive. What I love about cerave it has salicylic acid to fight blackheads and pimples. Garnier and cerave are readily avail in South Africa. What do you think about cetaphil facial products? I have not tried them but they cheaper than cerave in South Africa.
Could you see yourself reaching less for the make prem one now that you discovered this sunscreen? Would be great to hear your views in a couple of months. 💜
Thank you for this video Rob - I was looking for a new affordable sunscreen that I can buy locally. Did you find this was ok to put round your eyes? I usually have to use a mineral sunscreen on my eye area so that they don't water. I've never tried a hybrid. It would be great to use just one all over the face and body. The price sounds great too xxx
Thanks for the tip! I'll look for it! Btw: i've been watching the news about the heat wave in england... hope you are safe and well! Greetings from Portugal!
It's too bad that we can't walk in store and get most of the good products... I've noticed that in store, the available stock is even lower than usual... thank goodness we can order such a wide variety of products although I don't really see much Garnier available to us, and what is available is considerably more expensive for us ($17 for a small bottle)...😢
Thanks to your review I purchased mine from Look Fantastic! Not going to waste my time on some of the other ones since this one is such a good size/value for the money ^O^
Have you heard if someone with sensitive eyes have tried this? Most sunscreens make my eyes ”tired” or when worst it just hurts. I have found only one sunscreen that does not do this. I’m still searching for more cheaper option for me.
It’s frustrating that all these great sunscreens aren’t readily available in Canada. We do have some Garnier sunscreens, but it’s the Ombrelle line. Have you tried the Ombrelle line? How does it compare?
Sorry so just to clarify if I put enough on of this product the uv filter will be as good as the others? I bought this after watching you and I love it, it’s so affordable and easy to use doesn’t sting the eyes at all and like you say is cheap but I’m just a little worried about the efficiency of the uv as I use tretinoin xx
I bought it for my hands and arms originally. I did not want to put it on my face because of the perfume. I have used it on my face today and...pleasantly surprised!
I have done extensive research on RUclips and the Internet for a physical sunscreen with just zinc oxide and could not find one with a high SPF 50 that does not leave a white cast and is fragrance free.Do you know of any and would you do a video of free sunscreen in this category?
A lot of people like the COTZ ones. They have a few different formulas available in a sampler pack. Oh wait, those probably have titanium AND zinc. My bad.
@@RachelDee Thanks Rachel! I will check it out. It's been challenging trying to find a zinc oxide only spf 50 sunscreen. I really didn't want titanium dioxide because it has a 3 EWG rating for cancer risk. Sadly, so many people aren't aware how many toxic ingredients are in skincare and makeup products. I wish these SM Influencers would share more "clean ingredient" products. We all want to look good on the outside but should be more concern with the inside. No outward beauty is worth cancer. Right?!😉
@@LT-R828 well... I take EWG with a grain of salt. Especially since I'm Irish, prone to skin cancer, need a long term realistic compromise, and a 3 is still really low. I've caught instances where they rate the same ingredient completely differently product to product depending on whether it's from a brand that pays more to be promoted by them. Influencers are turned off by the marketing and rhetoric around companies like EWG. Most of them also don't relate to having health issues where they have to be overly concerned about specific ingredients. Kenna is a biochemist/cosmetic formulator that did a good nuanced video demonstrating the pros and cons in the websites like EWG and ThinkDirty if you're interested. I've noticed if I look up the individual ingredients, it leads me to the more specific studies they're basing the ratings on. Zinc oxide has its own downsides that don't always work for everyone (particularly for dryer skin types). IF all the little things add up in being absorbed over time by my skin barrier, then I'd rather use mineral and modern day filters for sunscreen and switch out other products elsewhere in my routines. I've looked up a lot of the individual modern day filter ingredients on EWG and they have pretty low ratings and good studies to back them up.
I can't use this sun screen, every time I've tried I end up with a bump red rash and I burn really badly. The only sunscreens I don't get this with are P20 and the Boots own brand in the gold bottle (I can't remember what it's called)
Thanks for watching hun.. I was actually wearing it in this video as i think the best way to show any sunscreen application is after 10 mins when it's settled down and this one leaves a gorgous finish x
Hi hun, I hope all is amazing with you.. its not available in US stores but you can order it from look fantastic and they have a sale on at the moment... love xx
@@MadAboutSkin thank you! I've wasted so much money on sunscreens I dislike. White cast, shiny, greasy etc. I just ordered Beauty of Joseon sunscreen on your recommendation looking forward to getting it. Sometimes I'm all day in and out of the car in 100° + Texas temperatures and this caught my eye as it doesn't need to be re applied. I'm one of your mature skin viewers btw. Love your videos! 🙂🌈
@@MadAboutSkin I finally decided to give Garnier Hydra24 SPF5O+ a try and I bought it. Despite the presence of denatured alcohol, it feels hydrating on the skin and not at all drying. No sign of irritation so far: I have been using it for 3 days and it seems to be working fine. Do you think it could be a good sunscreen during wintertime as well?

Hi thanks for this recommendation! what are the filters please?
Could you try the other versions from the hydra 24 and see how they compare ?
Great review
thank you so much xx
It's too bad that we can't walk in store and get most of the good products... I've noticed that in store, the available stock is even lower than usual... thank goodness we can order such a wide variety of products although I don't really see much Garnier available to us, and what is available is considerably more expensive for us ($17 for a small bottle)...😢
Thanks to your review I purchased mine from Look Fantastic! Not going to waste my time on some of the other ones since this one is such a good size/value for the money ^O^
I totally agree, with the value it really doesnt get better than this. love xx
Have you heard if someone with sensitive eyes have tried this?
Most sunscreens make my eyes ”tired” or when worst it just hurts. I have found only one sunscreen that does not do this. I’m still searching for more cheaper option for me.
It definitely irritated my eyes. How bad it irritated my eyes depends on how exhausted my eyes are but it definitely stings a bit.
Then again I do think the version I have is different from the UK version.
1st I hope you had a Whimsical Wednesday 😘
Beat me to it William.. Happy Wednesday xx
Happy Wednesday William love you x
@@paulinemaxton2938 Happy Wednesday 😍😍😍
❤️😘🤩
It’s frustrating that all these great sunscreens aren’t readily available in Canada. We do have some Garnier sunscreens, but it’s the Ombrelle line. Have you tried the Ombrelle line? How does it compare?
Do you have a link to the lab’s study results, please?
Yeah thats what I'm looking for did you find it?
Sorry so just to clarify if I put enough on of this product the uv filter will be as good as the others? I bought this after watching you and I love it, it’s so affordable and easy to use doesn’t sting the eyes at all and like you say is cheap but I’m just a little worried about the efficiency of the uv as I use tretinoin xx
Do you know what uv star rating is? Xx
I have this literally sitting on my desk 😳 uh it was cheap so I bought it for the body.... Maybe I should try it on the face
I would give it a go hun, I hope it works well for you xxxxxx
I bought it for my hands and arms originally. I did not want to put it on my face because of the perfume. I have used it on my face today and...pleasantly surprised!
It has titanium dioxide so there could be a bit of a cast
Hi hun, there wasn't on me but your right this could be an issue for those with a deeper skin tone so something to be mindful of. love x
Are these only for your body ? Or face too?
So we can trust garnier again I thought they failed the spf test please let me know
i got this sunscreen and as someone with a dark skin it gave me a white cast
I wonder if this will work under makeup. Bcuz the one I really liked at first being acne proof made makeup look dry n bad on the top
I always reach for the garnier fluid cus La roche possay and garnier are owned by l‘oreal and its probably a very very very similar formulation
I totally agree they are owned by the same company so they should have similar formulations xx
I love this sunscreen for summer - stocked up this time :D also the kids love the kids version :)
That sounds like the same scent and I love it so much.. thanks for sharing and sending love xx
I can't use this sun screen, every time I've tried I end up with a bump red rash and I burn really badly. The only sunscreens I don't get this with are P20 and the Boots own brand in the gold bottle (I can't remember what it's called)
I bought this today. Applied on my forearm to test it, and guess what? It hurts my forearm. Pain🤔
I can't find it for less than $15 in the US
What about the ECO version? That isn’t harmfull for the ocean? The eco design high protection lotion
I havent tried the eco version but I have heard good things.. love xx
is it suitable for combination acne prone skin?
Hi hun, I think this would work well for acne prone skin as this is my skin type and I had no issues.. love xx
@@MadAboutSkin thank you!
Has it any white colour?
What is the percentage of UVA protection?
I might try it but face sunscreen can so easily irritate the skin.
Im having a hard time finding this? Did i miss something? Its over $20 everywhere.ive found it. Im in the us so is that why?
Where can I get this sunscreen in the US? 😭
Is there a white cast?
Hi hun, there wasn't on me and my friend who has a darker skin tone said it worked so well for her too though which is great to know. love you xxxxxx
@@MadAboutSkin thanks hun. I soooo adore you 💕💕💕💕💕
Is this water based.?
It is, xx
Where can I get this in the states?
Can you use this on the face and body?
Ok you answered my question. Thank you Rob!
yes indeed I use it on both :) love you hun xx
“World’s best sunscreen” our Australian TGA just fainted 🤣🤣🤣🤦♀️
Haha.. sending love x
Is it fragrance free?
Hi hun, no it contains fragrance but its not too strong.. love xx
Thanks for the video! i am definetly getting this sunscreen :) I would have loved you to try it on your face thoug.
Thanks for watching hun.. I was actually wearing it in this video as i think the best way to show any sunscreen application is after 10 mins when it's settled down and this one leaves a gorgous finish x
@@MadAboutSkin perfect!! just bought it today so glad! your skin looks soo so beautiful in this video btw! Thank you Rob.
Is this available in the US? I can’t find it online.
Hi hun, I hope all is amazing with you.. its not available in US stores but you can order it from look fantastic and they have a sale on at the moment... love xx
@@MadAboutSkin Thank you!!
Can this be used on the face?
Hi hun, yes it can and it works well on the face..
I got it for the body mine has scent but couldn't handle it...
Is it sold in the USA? I couldn't find any brick and mortar stores 😥
@@williamtheantioxidantqueen3546 I ordered it from Lookfantastic, and it's on sale!
@@Patti-1962 Thank you 🥰
Oh thank you for the heads up Patti thats great to know.. love you xx
Yeah I think with all scents its going to come done to preference and it wont be for everyone thats for sure.. love you xx
The main thing for me is avoid denat alcohol sunscreens. My face gets red and then dry if I use it. :(
Thats such a shame Mat bu at least you know what does and doesn't work for you skin so you know what to avoid.. sending love xx
This must be such great marketing for Garnier though 😅
just bought it today
I hoep you enjoy it as much as I did.. ;love x
But It has just 3 star uva protection! Is it enough?
Hi hun, it depends where in the world you are, here in the UK thats fine and will be higher in some instances than PA++++ which is the asian equivalent but it does depend on your individual UV index.. love xx
I am sold imma get it
Let me know what you think of it.. love you x
I bought this and they are shipping two to the USA. LookFantastic is the store.
Thank you so so much for sharing hun and sending you lots of love xx
Now it’s sold out at look fantastic 😭
