It would be a good idea of putting an assembly business of electronics in the Philippines on those highly taxed products that way theres more jobs and cheaper electronics. There’s an idea for anyone wanting to start a business in the Philippines, import individual products and assemble there.

Most of the cheap products are made cheaply also. They're likely manufactured by extremely poor people who work horrible hours and don't have any options once they get themselves into that situation. The Chinese communist party does horrible things to people, including the Philippines.

If you use the self check out system, you are doing someone else’s job and you’re doing it for free. The company saves on wages and someone is now unemployed. I will never use these systems. I walked into a store once, and all they had was self checkout and the girl says oh I can help you use it if you don’t know. I said I’m more than capable of using it, but I don’t shop at stores that don’t imply people to do the checkout. I left the trolly full of merchandise, and I walked out and never went back.

for truckers, driving is like walking, it is so natural because they are always doing it. you put on some music, or an audio book, and the next thing you know, you're hours down the road. it's easier for some people than others. I've done several 24 hour straight trips, but other people are tired after only an hour or two. It may have something to do with strain. if it's natural, it's not a strain.. if you have to focus, then 2 hours of focus is a lot! this is also true for reading or watching a screen, or tennis. some people can do these things for 2 hours without a problem, and for others it's a monumental task to do it for 2 hours. great content, welcome to the USA. :-)

Hello Pea. Glad you found your way around Walmart. They have almost everything you need under one roof (food, clothing, auto supplies, eye care, hair salon, etc). The older versions used to have an auto center where you could get the basic maintenance done such as oil changes and tires. Where we live we don’t have one in our town so we would have to travel about 20 miles to get to the nearest ones. We have a couple of local grocery stores so basically what money we would save at Walmart would wind up being spent on extra gas used. I think the reason Walmart gets looked at negatively sometimes is because where there is one, a lot of the local businesses couldn’t compete and wound up going out of business. It also had an indirect effect on national businesses such as K Mart and Sears. Enjoy your weekend and look forward to your next stop on the Pea Does America tour.

@@TheFilipinaPea Local businesses that do survive are usually those that can outperform Walmart with their superior customer service and often have a devoted customer base. Owners and their staff tend to be more invested in the business than the average Walmart employee, who are not necessarily paid that well (minimum wage I suspect). When the Walmart super stores move into an area, they can end up monopolizing the job market, which means they can pay less than what workers had been making at the local businesses they used to work for. It's bad for the workers in that respect, thus lowering their earnings and their buying power, as well as creating near monopoly conditions in the business community.

Going on 2 years here now, she is finally starting to appreciate the quiet, the sounds of birds and nature. One thing she probably won't adapt to is winter. Snow was so nice to look at and experience. But the cold is something she cannot get accustomed to, nor driving in the snow!

I’m glad you took notice of the quietness. You are welcomed, but the receipt guy felt the unction to talk to you, but normally people only ask personal questions when you think you found a potential acquaintance. I’m glad you notice the way of driving in America. Busy cities has more traffic, but still more orderly. Everything is Meta first in America, so it’s all about your mental, and who is the back of your eyes. One thing to know is, historical information and powerful information is what makes America strong. The truth of life is within America, the very answers are hidden here, it’s a matter of reaching them. The lies are what they make attractive (NASA).
Anyways, I do want to accept your compliment though about the roads. Black Americans built everything you see in America. All of the infrastructure we built. All of the inventions are ours but stolen. Back to Cracker Barrel. The only woman you saw that helped you is the number one reason America is still running today. A little old Black Woman breeder. Our of her Pusey came the beautiful America built on slave labor, so you can overwork people. Other countries Al have connection so they wouldn’t slave themselves and endanger each other lives just to built an Eiffel Tower. So, they don’t say, but Black Americans (not Africans) make the enemy burn the hottest when someone tries to take the best of them. Like me, you should want to be with me and etc, but they will do and say anything to make sure you don’t, starting with doubt and distrust. Like I said it’s all mental (Meta) here, it’s in the atmosphere’s energy. I made a haven so you can dwell with a peaceful mind here, don’t let these people out-step you. Areas with Black Americans are the safest, it’s like me going to a Visayan area. How they treat depends on…Same difference. Being a tourist means you are espied, but if you decided to stay you would then feel what all Asians feel in America. Danger. Since Europe and China are next to you, they know already to be careful around you because I tell will get back. So you know your enemies real quick. I mean people that have Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs in their agenda. Like the receipt guy at Walmart. It’s best to meet me being a tourist, than green carded. It’s all about the grip for them. Why you think I never made it back, and I’m blacklisted. It’s just my dick between my legs that can birth more beautiful infrastructure builders or Only Fans workers. If I have children in another country the nation is blessed/increased. It only takes one. PS: if they can see you, you never see them. If you see them, they are the killers. Simple.

About the coins you discussed, they are designed that way for a reason. sizes range due to helping the Blind count money by size and if you noticed the quarter has ridges along the side of the coin as does the dime, this helps the blind decern the difference between dime and penny as the quarter is to the nickel. The blind feels the coin in their hands and fingers to tell what is what.

Also travelling longer distances we become lazy driving everywhere. I am sure in the Philippines walk more to get to many places getting some exercise at the same time. You mentioned that nice big screen TV? Many of us spend too many hours sitting being sedentary watching them. You said it right when you said “If only we had one Walmart it would put all the other stores out of business.” That’s so painfully true, which is why many people don’t like Walmart here in the US. It strangles competition with super cheap prices and super low wages for their workers.

  • @thepassman

Walmart can seem overwhelming at times with so many products/brands to choose. It was nice to get your perspective Pea on something that most Americans take for granted. I didn't know you had so many sisters at Walmart? 🤣This Omni-channel approach in the retail environment is what makes everything available and seamless for consumers. May years ago, we hosted 1/2 of a Filipino, cultural dance troop that stayed in our home. They toured all around the country and our city was just one stop among a couple dozen stops. At the end, they had seen the whole country and because they stayed with families, they were able to see how we lived. I drove on avg 130,000 miles per year as a over the road truck driver. We commonly work 12 to 14 hours per day. This includes time sitting at docks, or dropping/picking up loaded trailers, fuel stops. Many of us drink a lot of coffee. I personally had a French Press and ground my beans. Naps! A 20 minute nap can re-energize the mind and body. And since we have sleeper bunks, all we need is a safe spot to park for that 20 mins!
    Hope that answers your question.

The summary at the end was excellent. I joke about how I used to talk to my wife on WhatsApp before we got married and there was always background noise - dogs, birds, neighbors, and it sounded like total chaos. The first thing she commented on was how quiet it was here, and also about the space and how much that we have. Same with the rules of the road, how Americans follow them very closely. The only place I found in the Philippines that drives like in the States is Subic Bay, but that's because it was set up by Americans. There's even a large billboard before you go into the city that says that it's a orderly traffic zone and the rules must be strictly adhered to.
I think your trip to Walmart was fantastic. I have noticed the same differences between shopping in the US and shopping in the Philippines. I think you did a great job pointing them out.
A few observations that I have that struck me as a big difference:
    - It could be 30° c and my wife will order warm water to drink while she has breakfast. I find the coldest water I can find, because the hot water would just put me over the top of the too hot to be comfortable scale.
    - Police in the Philippines will often direct traffic even when there are traffic lights. This makes no sense to me. The other thing I noticed is that oftentimes there are no traffic lights and no stop signs, and people just ease their way in without any assistance from the traffic police.
    - shopping in places like Ace hardware, I notice that there are often times more employees than there are customers, to include an employee in every aisle and five or six cashiers, when there are only three or four customers in the entire store.
    - in the Philippines, it seems that every parking lot has a small contingent of parking attendants. They are there to help you find a spot and also greet you as you get out of your car.
    - shopping malls have all types of stores and services, to include dentist offices, hardware stores, fitness clubs, legal services, churches, and grocery stores.
    - people in the Philippines are very appreciative of visitors, to include being welcomed into just about every situation when they see you for the first time. I was greeted by a neighborhood policeman who introduced himself and welcomed me to the neighborhood and said that he was glad that I was there.
    - my wife loves to have the windows open with the air conditioning on. Still trying to figure that out. 🤷
I really enjoy these videos that compare the US to the Philippines. I think they will help to create and understanding between our two countries and help those who visit each country find themselves acclimated as well as amused at the differences.
