Nice to see someone using light line. I’ve had so much enjoyment and pride using 6lb mono. However I must admit that these days I’m using braid and fluorocarbon but I keep it as light as possible. I like finesse fishing.
Love your videos man! You should talk more about the areas you choose, why you chose it and especially with rivers, describe the spot your choosing and the direction your fishing!
+Cheri Doyle Great to hear from you Cheri and thanks for the feedback....it's very much appreciated and so glad you are enjoying our videos :) Good luck on the water
Great job Ivo and Antonio way to go with 6 lb test. awesome to see the flexi-jig in action. We did the Jordon harbour on Monday and did really well on the channel cats and bullhead. always great watching you guys. Thanks for the tips and info. Take care Mike.
Hay Ivo just wanted to wish you a great New Year. I went fishing a few weeks ago and cot me a nice 2.5 pound Rainbow trout. Thanks for the advice. I look forward to seeing more of your videos, and love the tips, and techniques you share. Thank you very much
Hi Michael and Happy New year to you as well....hope you had an outstanding holiday season and that 2017 is off to a great start for you! Congrats on your 2.5 lb rainbow....nice fish!
+Day5 Aquatics Hope this year is the year you catch your first walleye :) Here is a walleye seminar I did a while ago, that you may enjoy: ruclips.net/video/JI9TH21LMOY/видео.html
Day5 Aquatics try using dickie spinners, if u don't have luck with the jigs def use white pearl needs with a gold spoon! try that out bud and if ur on a boat u want the West wind so u barely or never have to reel.. they will attack it like no ones buisness.. even if you're shore fishing. Good luck and tight lines bro
can you do an episode on fish finder readings while your fishing for walley? I have a kayak with hummingbird 197c installed through the scupper and I don't know what walleye look like on it. never caught any yet but trying. I live close to Lake Erie in ohio so there's plenty up here but it would help to know what to look for. thanks even if ya don't. p.s. I'm from Florida originally so I'm learning northern fish strategies. you should go there for snook, boy those peel drag, and you would Ave a blast. you can fish them like bass but with bigger lures.
+James O'Brien Great to hear from you James and fishing from a kayak is a lot of fun and Lake Erie in the Ohio area holds plenty of walleye - just be sure to watch the wind forecast as that lake can get nasty with heavy winds. Your finder will mark walleye with an arch shape and you will see them on the bottom or on lake erie, the also suspend, so you may see these suspended arch's. A good way is to put your finder on simulation mode and you will see how it marks fish....just make sure to remember to take it off simulation mode :) Good luck out there
***** thank you very much for letting me know how walleye show up at the different depths. I think these are walleye. I'm trying for walleye right now at nimisilla lake lol. Marking loads of fish but I'm about to head in because work tomorrow. Have a great time fishing.
Ivo, do you have any videos describing the way that you orient the boat, and the way that you then fish when your targeting cold water river current fish?
Is that Fin-s-Fish? lol. Also, how do to stop from getting any tangels with braided line. When I'm fishing, it's all going good but then when I go to cast I get a big ball of tangeled line. I've hear it's because I'm in casting against the wind but I'm not sure.
+Jig Everything It was not a fin-s-fish, but very similar...here's a video on tips for casting into the wind and here's another one on the proper way to spool up your braid; ruclips.net/video/pGxuM_eMwqw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/CxZR0ZtvM58/видео.html
I use only braid because of rocks in my local river. Spider wire 20 lb test. Never have tangles or spool offs. Make sure you are spooling the reel right and make sure you don't put too much line on the reel because both cause your issue. There is no issue casting into the wind at all. I cast into massive lake Huron wind all spring
Hi Gentleman, what type of softbaits work wi these flexible jigs when I try to thread them on with Berkley paddle tails they don't thread on as you show in your video's could you do a side video showing how to or what plastics work thanks for any help.
Hi Dewman - nice to hear form you and we like to "thread" our plastic on the flexi jigs as the coil on there really holds plastic on tighter than the conventional jigs do. Just poke your plastic through as you normally would, then when you get to the coil, start to "thread" it on - you can use any plastic that you would use on any regular jig :)
...I'll let him know about your request, an din the meanwhile, I did do a walleye seminar, which will give you many tips and techniques - here is is - hope you enjoy it :) ruclips.net/video/JI9TH21LMOY/видео.html
I didn't think there would be good walleye fishing in the upper Niagara that time of year more so in the Western Basin. Do you carry a Can & a NY fishing license every year
@Thundermist Lures Question for the Boatless Angler. Are there any spots near Hamilton, Ontario area that you can recommend where I can fish for walleye? Thank you in advance.
Very informative as usual, when you tie off to a fluorocarbon leader how long of a lead are you using? Also are you tying the two lines directly together? If so with which knot do you prefer? Thanks!
+Marc Brancaccio Hi Marc....I like to double the rod length in leader line and us e a uni knot - here are 2 quick videos that will explain: ruclips.net/video/QsuFwO002zI/видео.html ruclips.net/video/7CmRxGNnxHo/видео.html
When you hook a decent walleye do you keep tension on the line not letting n e slack produce and baby it in or do you trust your hookset and just crank it to the shore ? I understand drag and all that just wondering on how aggressive you crank it to the boat ? Say 5 pounder or better ?
it is best to alwyas have tension on your line - if you let it go slack, the fish may be able to shake it loose - even if it is a good hookset - sometimes, they shake so much that the hook hole gets larger and then the barb can come free :)
Hey Ivo, I always thought that a wire leader is needed whenever you target walleye or pike. Were you using one? If not, did you lose any fish by using a fluoro leader?
+iPwnisher When fishing for pike, a steel wire leader will prevent being cut off - however, with walleye, although they have teeth, their teeth are not concentrated like a pike is. The walleye have many gaps between their teeth ad as a result, they will not cut you off. You will notice in this video and all my other walleye videos, I do not use any wire leader as it is not needed :) If you want to tie your own wire leaders for pike, here is an excellent & easy way to so so: ruclips.net/video/uVUi-RuNvrU/видео.html
I can't figure out what the difference of what I need to be legal on the Niagara a 1-year sport fishing licence tag or a 1 -yearyear conservation fishing licence tag
...the difference is a conservation license has limited limits - for example, on lake Erie & the upper Niagara, with a conservation license, you can keep 2 walleye, but a full license you can keep 6 and etc with the other species :)
Hi Kenneth - thanks for the great feedback - we are from Ontario and fishing the Niagara River which separates Ontario from New York - so there is access to the river from both NY or ON. The jig really is awesome and very new so many people do not know about it yet, but it is extremely effective on the hook set and will help you land more fish :)
...we used the boat launch at Nichols marine, but its not very good as the concrete ramp is short and then there's a big drop off - so your trailer will bang the bottom, so if you sue that one, just beware :)
Great to hear from you in PA :) It is very easy for you to get a Ontario fishing license - you can do so on line and here is a link: www.ontario.ca/page/fishing-licence-non-residents-canada Good luck on the water
Tough question Kenny, as there are many good baits to use.....if I was trolling, I would have to say the Viper Spoon is my favorite, but in not trolling, than you can't be a jig - either a regular jig or a bucktail jig - both work great :)
....no size limit in my area....only quantity, however, there are different rules in Ontario - some areas have slot sizes so best to check your local regulations :)
I fish walleyes too, if your sincre on people commenting that theve never caught an eye , then why don't you tell them where your fishing ? not like there going to crowd you out of your spot, an then maybe they will catch there first eye, ive never done a video where I didn't tell the people exactly where I was fishing.
Hi Donald - good to hear from you and I always let people know where I am fishing....If I don;t mention it in the video, I let them know if they write in and ask.....this episode was filmed on the Upper Niagara river, at Fort Erie. Good luck on the water :)
My highest regards to you , I didnt mean to be out of line, i watched your video a guy can always lear new tricks when it comes to eyes , i didnt see any where abouts an seen comments about fisher people that have never caught an eye, never fished for them ya can teach them how but if they dont know where to go tofish for them, leaves a lot of confushion, an any one who wants to fish should be given the oppertunity to catch eyes , thats an experiance every one should have theres nothing better, again sorry for jumpping the gun my hat off to you, and good luck on water to you to, take care :)
I have watched two of your videos and I wanna say, why haven't you put any back. Like that first big one you caught you should have put him back. RUclips videos don't keep the fish do it in your own time not filming!
Hi Jordan and thanks for your feedback....we do catch and release sometimes and other times we catch and keep - thanks for your feedback and good luck on the water :)
Lol because they're honest folks. Nothing wrong with keeping your catch. They do catch n cook videos too. None of the walleye in this vid were huge trophy females that should go back. They were all high teens low twenties from the look of it

lol! The host was so nervous...he was so glad Antonio's hard-pulling fish was a trout...lmao...or he'd pout and kick Antonio out! 😅
Man now that's a good day of fishing love the video
SO glad you enjoyed this walleye episode Steven and it really was a great day on the water :)

I really liked the seminar!!! really informative. hope you guys can do a video how to find the big walleyes thx allot
Awesome video! If only it was that easy around here lol! Do you think large creek chubs would work? like in the 5-8inch range?
+AmericanFishDude Large creek chubs would work great as live bait for walleye :)
***** Sweet!
When was this filmed? I was using the t-turn rigs with shiners today and landed a 5lb sheephead and 3.5lb silver bass.
filmed last month....and sounds like you had a great day on the water :)
I respect that guy with 6 pound test ... I'm the same way! I've got plenty of big fish less then 8lb test!
Sounds like some great fishing Shane - thanks for writing in :)
I didn't think there would be good walleye fishing in the upper Niagara that time of year more so in the Western Basin. Do you carry a Can & a NY fishing license every year
Yes....It's always good to have both licenses :)
Wow, Do you guys give some tours! Love your channel!
+Josue Polanco So glad you are enjoying our videos and our channel - best of luck on the water :)

+reelfishing So glad you enjoyed this walleye episode and thanks for tuning in :) We had a great time that day

Thanks Ivo, that totally makes sense! I'll also be sure to watch the wire leader video so that I can be better prepared for my next pike fishing trip.
What date was this video made? Just wondering for when the walleye bite turns on.
....it would have been around march/april time-frame :) Early Spring

What boat launch are you launching from. Its in the can side or US
...we used the boat launch at Nichols marine, but its not very good as the concrete ramp is short and then there's a big drop off - so your trailer will bang the bottom, so if you sue that one, just beware :)
Is it hard for us on this side to get a Can License. How? I have a Ohio, Pa, NY and I will get a CAN. I live in Pa . " Steeler Nation"
Great to hear from you in PA :) It is very easy for you to get a Ontario fishing license - you can do so on line and here is a link: www.ontario.ca/page/fishing-licence-non-residents-canada Good luck on the water
This is a random question. What can I catch using bread?
+King of The outdoors Carp and catfish for sure.......use the white part of the bread and make it into a dough ball - good luck :)
+King of The outdoors ...there is a contact us e-mail on our web site and that would be the best one to use :)
+Thundermist Lures I can contact you but it only shows up in the help section. Is there anywhere else for me to find it.
...it's fine to use the e-mail in the help section :)

Can I ask u a ? What is the best bait for walleye
Tough question Kenny, as there are many good baits to use.....if I was trolling, I would have to say the Viper Spoon is my favorite, but in not trolling, than you can't be a jig - either a regular jig or a bucktail jig - both work great :)
Thanks
Beautiful
beautiful walleyes
+Mike Gervais Thanks for writing in Mike and glad you enjoyed this walleye episode...we had a lot of fun that day :)
I enjoy all of your videos I can't wait the four days till our lake opens up
How big do walleye have to be in Ontario ?
....no size limit in my area....only quantity, however, there are different rules in Ontario - some areas have slot sizes so best to check your local regulations :)
Thundermist Lures most places here in N.Y. , we have a 15" size limit and a bag limit of 5 on Walleyes
Why so much water on the boat?
... self-bailing hull sometimes lets water in the boat as well - they have since changed that design :)
where were ya??
+BLSNick Upper Niagara River :)
***** you guys nail'em there eh. Im up barrie way, keep meaning to make my way down there for some fishing in the niagra

+2kwikSRT Last month :)
No biggy...not a lot of fight with a walleye....I have caught hundreds.....but great eating!!!
Anyone else see how much that last one was bleeding haha

Did Antonio even catch a walleye? Poor guy :)
+Jeffrey Rose ....can't recall but sometimes things like that just happen :)
the Boatless angler himself took about 6 minutes of this video.... I think it was on purpose lol
+Tremaine Mcdaniel LOL :) Thanks for writing in
Fishing for close to 30 years, I never caught a walleye in my life. I'm just never close to a body of water with walleye in them. :(
....I hope someday you get a chance to give walleye fishing a try - it's a lot of fun :)
Most of those should have went back. Especially the blue one. Come on.
I have watched two of your videos and I wanna say, why haven't you put any back. Like that first big one you caught you should have put him back. RUclips videos don't keep the fish do it in your own time not filming!
