    The DCT doesn't belong in a commuter vehicle of this size and definitely not if you're towing. Hyundai should be using the 8sp auto that Genesis uses

      Well, Hyundai hasn't perfected It, but Porsche still uses a PDK in its SUV.

      What do you think about the 1.6l turbo hybrid setup?

    • @andrewsbbq
      @andrewsbbq Месяц назад +2

      @@tmac2705 the smart stream engines are looking pretty good. All GDI engines can suffer carbon building up on intake valves, so I wish it was MPI, but installing an oil catch-can can greatly help along with GDI valve cleaning products.
      The hybrid system has been out for years now and is very well received by owners. For 2024 it got improved cooling and slightly more power and torque. I do with it had a heat pump but can’t win em all, especially at the pretty agreeable price that the Santa Fe is

    1:25 still chuckle when seeing how they oriented the engine cover to make it look like a longitudinal powertrain. Decent CUV though, and they figured out that styling plays a big role in people's perception of how capable or adventurous a vehicle is. This and the new Traverse really transformed their styling despite still being pretty standard CUVs.

  • @kennak476
    @kennak476 Месяц назад +5

    I like the styling, it has that “robo-cop” look. If Hyundai was serious and added articulation, road clearance, tires, suspension, skid plates etc.- they could really go after the 4-Runner market IMO

    Finally a real video testing the awd system. Please do more content like this and of possible more "non paved road" testing such as testing the awd going up a steeper dirt incline or on sandy terrain.
    Yes its never gonna go full 4x4 but it would be awesome to see how far it can test its limits.

  • @andrewsbbq
    @andrewsbbq Месяц назад +5

    The hybrid drivetrain is definitely the better choice. Not DCT, way better mileage, good low end. And the Canadian models is really well equipped for the price, sort of a trim between the US SEL and Luxury.
    Would love to see a similar review of it Mr Elmer!

    Totally agree with Howard, the off-road term has no meaning. Marketing people toss it out so people will feel better about their purchase.
    Must look at underbody angles (approach, breakover, departure), ground clearance on base vehicle and max tire size that can be added after market, drive system: 4wd type, crawl speed. I'm sure I forgot to add some things.

    • @theglowcloud2215

      The new Santa Fe somehow has less ground clearance than my 2012 Santa Fe. Also has like 1" less clearance than the Telluride (unless you buy the XRT trim)

  • @backwoodstherapy

    There should be laws about marketing something as "off road." You could put a set of light all terrain tires on literally anything with awd and it woukd be about as "off road" capable as this. I'm not hating on it, it's nice for what it is, but any CUV with a tire swap will perform just as well. There needs to be minimum approach/departure/breakover angles plus ground clearance before something should be legally allowed to he labeled "off road."
