Thank you for sharing; it can't be easy and you don't owe us an explanation at all. I wish you all the best for your surgery! And I express my appreciation for your hard work, that is some lovely, fine and neat stitching. I look forward to the reveal, when you're ready!
I'm sitting here knitting while recovering from same surgery (insert same hat comic here). My surgeon catching covid never even crossed my mind on my list of things to be anxious about. I'm so sorry you've been delayed so much. I hope there are no more roadblocks and that your recovery is a dream, when you get there. I'm so glad we got some cat content. I was thinking we weren't going to get any and then the purr caught me by surprise. Happy Pride
Lately I've been getting into historical fashion but I can't figure out whether I'm more interested in men's or women's fashion... and looking for something in between... Today I found out that my local library has Bernadette Banner's book so I checked it out and found you in there! I'm so excited to check out the channel and learn more. Thanks for being you and making stuff!
Gender feelings are very odd to unpack an an enby, so I feel you there. I don't have the ability to pursue surgery so I've had to make peace with that, but I'm so glad to see others achieve their goals ❤️
Enby solidarity. Surgery def isn't the "be all end all" of feeling right. I both dislike that it's a shorthand for transition, and also *shrugs* it's what's right for me. *laughs* It's so complicated. Thanks for writing.
I love this peaceful video and the shirt came out so beautifully. The stitching is so lovely and satisfying. Thank you for sharing your story and I’m so so happy for your upcoming surgery!! I wish you a safe journey and a quick recovery ❤️🩹
@@BeQueerMakeStuff hey, could you start just popping your patreon link in your video descriptions? I need to go over there but l Keep getting distracted.
Your shirt is gorgous and I look forward to seeing you wearing this as your real self. I'm glad to read that there was a cancellation and you will get your surgery sooner than expected after the second delay. The buttons/cufflinks you used on this shirt are just so lovely.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey and feelings. I'm not queer but my sister is and hearing your feelings helps me better understand what she is going through. She is at the start of her journey,on waitlists for estrogen etc. And it's hard to really know how frustrating and difficult that is for her. You videos help. Also I love watching you make stuff.
It took me 5 years to get top surgery so I can relate. I’m sorry your surgery got delayed- it must be very tough, but I’m excited for you to finally get that feeling of rightness when it happens ❤️ I got some linen to make one of these shirts too, now that I got my own teet yeet last summer. Now I just need to beat my nervousness and adhd and actually make it 😅
Good luck and godspeed on your journey. It still feels like a someday dream that I might ever get to feel comfortable in my own skin, but I try to hang on for the sake of my queer family (I don't have the support of my blood family) and that maybe...maybe one day I'll actually be able to afford the surgery I need.
Loads of love to you for your surgery coming up! I'm with you there - halfway through a 12-month waiting list for a consultation, even with a private surgeon (rather than NHS) :') Every step feels hard to do *and* has a waiting list attached to it as well, but we'll get there! Your shirt is absolutely gorgeous though! I can't wait for you to wear it and feel happy doing so 💖
Good luck with your surgery! I'm so glad you're getting it sooner than expected!! I just began the process of navigating how to get top surgery *today* and oooooof the anxiety and the intense gender feelings. It's so helpful to hear about another nonbinary person's experience going through this. And watching all of your videos has inspired me to start making gender-affirming garments for myself, which is also super helpful! 💙
The shirt is gorgeous and oufff. Hang in there. All fingers and toes crossed that Part 2 goes smoothly and with no more delays. (And thank you - I can hardly imagine the emotional drain it must have been to put this video together, still in suspense...)
The shirt looks wonderful. And I'm so happy for you to finally finish your Final Step. I kept thinking how if you were in my area you could get fabulous medical care. I'm in the Rochester NY area and healthcare for all LGBTQIA+ folks is fabulous. There's a whole medical practice devoted to the community. My nibling is non-binary and their partner is trans, and they went to the practice and received excellent care with no hassles. Sorry, I hope I don't sound like I'm pushing to have you move just for the healthcare. I'm just sad that you had to go through all those hassles just to get the body to conform to how your heart and mind saw it. Hope it goes well and that you're happy with the result. Happy Pride!
Thank you so much!! And yes. :/ Things are really very state-by-state, and even within, limited by access to cities with good resources. I am much luckier than many!
Managing our emotions is necessary skillset to be taught. And you're doing amazing. I think people in your shoes would love a video of the insurance game/struggle u had to go through. Maybe when ure at a place nearing your true wholeness, you could share your tactics and lessons that indicated enough of the prejudice, microagressions, and industry jargon that make it harder for you to achieve happiness, versus a middle age woman seeking her youth... literally equivalent (arguably less so since their pursuit is to still be "desirable" in a consumerist materialistic society where as existential misalignment is an identity thing and a psyche thing -- not psychological as conservatives love to argue, but I digress). I know people would love to learn how u handled the insurance companies! --and remain prideful of where you are now. U may not be off the path of change yet, but you're not at the beginning either. It will be complete. And your physical will manifest to match the self u know it to be. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
💛🤍💜🖤 Best of luck on your surgery journey! I also had my top surgery rescheduled a number of times for a variety of reasons (including covid), so I resonated with a lot of what you said. Cheering for you via the internet!!
I love this shirt, I wear the one I made using Ora Lin's pattern as often as I can be bothered to iron it and usually even when I can't. More weird clothes! More gender!
Thank you!! The cameo cuff links are actually a family item! My aunt found them in her aunt's estate. They were probably women's wear, judging from the size. Aren't they lovely!?

Thank you so much! :) I appreciate the good thoughts.
Shirt looks fab! I’m watching while wearing a linen mens shirt that you helped inspire.
Aw, that makes me so happy! I feel like this shirt was the result of what I learned from my first 18th century shirt. Things only get easier. :D

Thank you!!
