As a truck driver I find Manhattan is very easy to drive because from my experience of driving in Manhattan everyone takes their turn to merge and most of the time you are driving at a low speed so it makes it safer. Most of the accidents in Manhattan are with pedestrians.
As a local driver I Drive an international day cab pulling a 48 foot box trailer with the name of your favorite soft drink all over. I’m never bumping docks, I just pull in to whatever store I’m delivering to, and park out of the way while at the same time getting as close as possible..Im responsible for a 3 county wide area in northwest Alabama. Obviously NY and where I drive are no where close to the same..I regularly encounter impatient 4 wheelers, illegally parked cars, etc and the highlight of my day is being out on a rural 4 lane highway for 25-50 miles or so..I couldn’t handle the skill to drive ANY vehicle in NY much less a huge tractor pulling a 53 foot trailer...hats off and a bow to you and all other commercial drivers for lifting your balls up and navigating your way around there...I’ve always understood why a lot of trucking companies advertise NO NORTHEAST COAST, but videos like this really hammer it home.
If there's a next time hit these spots: gray's papaya on 72nd street for hotdogs, big nick's for burgers, for pizza go to koronets on west 110th street or any pizza shop that's not a chain like dominos or papa johns. Truck hard and safe.
Google maps can be your friend when I did pickups at some of the smaller businesses in the suburbs areas it was helpful to use satellite views to plan out my trips.
Thanks for videoing this. I may be getting a job soon that requires NY and other east coast city deliveries so I wanted to see what it looked like to drive there. The traffic is pretty heavy. It reminds me of the one time I had to deliver in DC...crazy traffic.
Fascinating. I've driven trucks thru Compton and Long Beach, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Newark. But never Manhattan. I had a drop-off near Midway in Chicago that's the closest I can think to what you're doing. I can't even imagine it!
You get hazard pay driving in NYC? ^_^ I drove into Manhattan ONCE. That's all it took, never again. The end of the day my nerves were so worked up my head was pounding, I almost threw up. Anyway, first time on your channel, It's great! Subscribed. Stay awesome!
No hazard pay. I work off percentage so I guess you could say it paid nicely. It wasn’t too bad considering I enjoyed the challenge. Plus I got to walk around a few hours and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city. Thanks for watching
Haha I randomly am searching NYC trucking videos and you come from my hometown. That’s awesome. Hopefully you hit up McDonald’s while you were waiting for Viracon to load your glass.
Not that hard when your only on 3 lane one way roads. Do downtown Bronx or downtown Brooklyn, gets a lot harder with a full size semi there. Those where some of the widest roads I've seen in NYC. Show some of the harder stuff and then say it's easy.
@@nitowlman yea because driving a truck is such a difficult skill set only a select group of humans born are ever able to do it, it’s definitely not something you can learn you are born with the skill or not. LMAO! SARCASM BUD!

The worst part about the drive you took is the lanes don't match up from one intersection to the next. It's like ridiculous
This guy looks young I would say you'd have to be a pretty damn good truck driver to be able to draw a semi through New York City
facts, u can tell this guys a dam good driver, its pretty tough driving in nyc as is
New York is nowhere near the worst city to drive a truck in lol
@@ColdWheel tell me more
@@kingfrombirth8615 Boston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami.. all worse than New York in my opinion

Mad props for being able to drive a semi through NYC!
I love your chilled out attitude bro. I can't imagine what driving a semi in NYC is like but it would be a cool challenge I'm sure.
It can get sketchy at times. What I drove thru wasn’t too bad but it can be difficult for sure

If you can drive in DC, Baltimore or New Jersey, then you can make it in New York.
San Fran is worse I think the roads are so small and cars parked every were and you gotta go up hill down hill it’s a pain in the ass
