Them not making the drillevator pettable, and alive like Dorreta was a missed opportunity. I would also prefer we rode it back up, and defended it a second time with the loot. Once you crack the geode the mission feels like its missing a whole second half cause you just rocket boost out, and hop on the drop pod.
Yeah I agree about the core spawns. I've used the cheese tactics before and it's purely because we didn't want to deal with those crawlers. Even dealing with 5 barrage infectors and a bunch of mactera is preferable to those core spawns at higher difficulty levels. At least I can tell where they're shooting and located.
Yeah, without the gunner and (to a lesser extent) driller, the core stones are significantly harder. Up at haz 5 and beyond, gunner’s zip lines almost become essential.
the biggest cheese is with Gunner. If you break most of the pillar, place down a shield, then break the last of the core stone. Thats it, its done in a second. I think its a part of the code that freaks out about having an enemy inside the shield but it cant move so it just dies
@@origional_name_here1429 I figured it was more about it being unable to generate rifts resulting in it skipping through all of its health. But your theory is equally probable.
Some players seem to skip learning the event and just do the cheeses. It reminds me of the "Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game" quote :/
"Deep Scan is an enjoyable new mission" - Agree. My biggest issue is that it has the highest rate of all 4 players going in different directions, someone eventually dying and waiting multiple minutes for a rez, but since that behavior is actually a rare event in other missions I still enjoy that. "I wish they would buff the 3 new standard enemies" - Disagree. - Stalker in particular I think deserves to survive accidental gunfire, but not become a menace when the Regenerator affix is on. Plus since it's already guarinteed to remove all your shield health, I do wish its hit either dealt a bit less damage, or dealt damage BEFORE applying the shield debuff. Both cases are because currently it applies the debuff, THEN chunks you for like 80% of your health bar. - Barrage, I think it does its job very well and have no desire for any further lethality or annoyingly-longer time to kill. It lasts long enough to fire off at least 1 barrage which often requires the player to run or go down, and depending on sightlines that may result in it providing area denial for a pretty sizable time. - Scalebramble, while sometimes it's trivial to kill all its nodules I don't think that means killing the body thereafter should continue to be a slog, plus depending on cave layout I wouldn't describe that as a "little extra annoyance" so much as "FFS Scout you're literally the only one who can clear that while we defend the Drilldozer GET YOUR ASS ON IT." Plus the extra time necessary to kill all its nodes tends to make it last as a presence into a new horde of bugs, at which point we still can't kill it because the horde is our new top priority. "Corestone event is great" - Agree. I think everyone agrees the zipline cheese removes quite a bit of the excitement, but even with the cheese the visuals, music, sounds, and freaky-ass jumping aliens all come together into a phenomenal event. "The Corespawn are exceedingly durable for how small, quick, and aggressive they are" - Big agree. And you didn't mention it, but because their stats as well as number simultaneously spawning scales with mission difficulty, they rapidly exceed what players are able to handle. Were the cheese strat not a thing, I am 100% certain I'd see many more wipes just because my squad wouldn't be coordinated enough to perform enemy management while also taking out the core stone. - That said, the (non-cheesed) event reignited my passion for bringing L.U.R.E. grenades on engineer. It takes quite a bit to make me forego a Shredder Swarm, but dang it felt good to have a super obvious and powerful use for the utility option. Overclocks - Generally agree. The worst thing I can say about the GK2 overclock is just that it doesn't feel like it accomplishes anything new, because hot dang all the other overclocks come with very novel and attractive use cases. Mutators and Anomalies - Generally agree. - Duck and Cover is currently my least-favorite affix ever. It's annoying in enclosed mining missions and outright lethal in Sandblasted drilldozer missions. Plus you didn't mention it, but because it increases the spawn rate of turret-type enemies (Spittballers or Scalebrambles) it can create some absolutely absurd open rooms with 5+ turrets all covering each others' blind spots. - Ebonite Outbreak, I have to actively remind myself to stop shooting once it's just the ebonites still alive, but it's honestly pretty chill. Depending on how often Molly is near me, I can sometimes feel like this is a buff overall. - Secret Secondary, love it. It's a simple concept, and it releases dopamine every time an objective is completed. - Blood Sugar, be sure to bring Thorns because they spawn in additional Swarmers to help keep you alive. At least, in concept. If your group is split, you may hit a dry patch for an extended time as all the swarmers spawn on someone else. If the swarmers had a more-normalized spawn frequency on all players, I think that would resolve my largest issues and make it a fun buff.
Speaking of corespawn, I also am also of the opinion that the lethality of core spawn is very… lopsided depending on the loadout. Flamethrower or Sludge pump Driller from my memory (and also shown in this video) has most of his loadouts struggle to output enough damage to kill them easily despite his speciality supposedly being aoe damage, and in my experience is mostly forced into dealing chip damage and bombing the core stone. As opposed to gunner which tends to carry the former in these events Also some crowd control methods straight up don’t work on them like repellant additive which I learned the hard way when they started ignoring it and dashing all over the platforms
The Stalker is a good enemy but it really has 2 main problems. First is that it deals damage after the debuff leading it to do shit ton of damage. and second is that sometimes the sound cue just doesn't work or no sound cue either it's because you're unlucky or the stalker just spawned on top you. Leading to some unfair moments like just dealing with the swarm at full heath then all of a sudden you are now 1 shot away from death and no shield.
On deep scan: it needs some work. The drillevator should be the main aspect of the mission, but most of your time will be spent finding resonance crystals, which isn’t really all that fun. It’s also not very dangerous on the drillevator. Still love the mission though.
I've successfully done the core spawn event solo at haz 5 with all the classes, and can confirm it's one of the few events that I'll skip if I know I don't have enough resources or the right build for. On some classes with a resupply it's totally doable. Scout can kite them pretty much indefinitely (although consistent boomerang stuns make this easier), engineer can just straight up kill all of them quickly with the right setup, and driller has the easiest time just freeing the corestone quickly and can also quickly kill (or freeze) whole groups of enemies. Obviously gunner can trivialize the event, but even without cheese tactics he can get a lot done with his shield generator giving him easy opportunites to mine the pillar or resupply. That said, the enemies are *so* durable and difficult to outrun that certain builds (eg: sludgepump, warthog, etc) just have a really hard time no matter how you play them. I'd personally like to see them toned down a bit to make them just slightly more forgiving.
I think core spawn are by far the worst enemies in the game because of how fast they are. The dwarves move too slowly and don't have enough mobility to avoid getting hit
@@jbarber7127Agreed on that second point, although I think them being so different makes them interesting adversaries. The only real way to avoid being hit is to CC (stun, fear, freeze, slow, etc) or kill them (unless you're scout and can zip away, or gunner and can hover above them, or force them off of you with shield). Because of that, builds that are light on CC and don't have super fast (and consistent) ttk just get overwhelmed. Personally I think their speed makes them unique, so I'd rather they be slightly squishier so that most builds can actually kill them before they get to you.
@@thegoldenraysoftheglorious1180-- Same, Sludge Pump is so good for corespawn. Especially with slowing and extra DoT, a single charged shot is usually enough to shut them down.
DRG is great. I’m still having a blast 2 months later. And if you look how this game has fair compared to others like it (cough HD2) this game has proved to be leagues ahead of other games out right now. I hope they continue to give it love and expand it. Season 6 pleaseeeee
For the deep scan mission, i wish that you would drop into a horde of bugs. Currently it feels like the mission is already over once you drop in, as all thats left is to collect the morkite seeds and jetboot out.
Another cool thing about changing seasons is that it adjusts the odds of finding specific season events. I'm personally just playing the seasons to unlock all weapon skins for each class at a time and it's giving me alot of variety has opposed to playing the same season event over and over
For the Blood Sugar anomaly, small ennemies spawn more frequently. Mostly swarmers, sometimes grunts spawn, are easy to deal with and you don't really lose HP, at least it is not really noticeable for me. It's become one of my favorite anomalies in egg hunts because I can just pop as many eggs I want and stand in the middle of my fire as driller and not die while the ennemies feed me with their blood.... ahem
I actually had a really good time on a Duck and Cover mini-mule mission recently. The uplink box was out in the open and my first thought was "How the hell am I going to defend this position against ranged enemies?" Then I remembered bunkers are a thing. Dug one out under the uplink and the mission ended up being easier than normal.
Basically without a scout to reach unreachable areas where the spots could be at or without the mole oc to pierce terrain into the weak point node, the scalebramble is just a nuisance
The Core Spawns feel absolutely ridiculous, but they become a joke with the Gunner cheese strats. I wish they were tweaked. It feels like the sheer amount of corespawns means you can't take one step without being hurt by either their attacks or the acid pools.
The acid pools should definitely be more visible (bright purple smoke maybe?) Otherwise, I personally really like where the event is at difficulty-wise. Maybe there could be an option to make it easier? (Maybe also harder, fuck it)
Everything added seems genuinely great and well-balanced and fun. Every new enemy is an engaging new type of enemy, which is impressive given their already vast variety, and the new overclocks are well-balanced and useful. The little stuff is great and fits right in with what they already have. All around, it's not stunning, but a significant improvement to the entire game with no noticeable downsides.
Core stones are pretty manageable for me at hazard 5, but once we get into hazard 5+ territory that's when it starts to get untenable without cheese. I guess that's kind of the point, but the core stone seems like a step above almost everything else you can encounter at that level. The only thing that even comes close is Korlok Tyrant Weeds, which are still worse but probably mostly because there's no way to cheese them. Also on a related note, a tyrant weed at max hazard 5+ might genuinely be a guaranteed mission failure if you can't just ignore it, lol Like holy shit it has so much health with tough bugs on, without a specialized build I'm pretty sure you just use up all the nitra in a cave trying to fight it no matter how good you are.
I really enjoy the new mission but not a big fan of cores and will exploit it to skip it if the team is ok with it. I'm also now part of the mineral crew when it comes to events and have collected all lost gear. The only thing I have to look forward is the remaining cosmetics in the cargo crates and to get Engie, Gunner and, Scout to 3 stars legendary rank. Driller is Legendary rank 11x.
Enemies are too hard, I dont like it. Enemies are too easy, I dont like it. We need to pick a lane as a comunity. Historicaly, its easier to nerf enemies than to buff them.
I'd like to argue that at launch, season 3 was much better than season 1. There were only 2 Rockpox enemies which made fighting their swarms have far more counterplay, driller could still drill them for a quick kill and mini meteors didn't exist yet. I don't think many people remember how overtuned bots were on the launch of season 1, how useless driller was on Industrial Sabotage. Time however has been very kind to one season and not the other. Robots are in a fantastic place and driller is a great pick for IS while for Plaguefall, mini meteors plague missions when you have the season active and any Rockpox swarms are filled with the god awful enemies added in season 4, making them a homogenous mess with no counterplay
The scale infectors nodes should also shoot at you and the barrage should have a regenerateing low armor shell that you have to focus down to get to the weak spot
I have ~100 hours and I’ve had this game for a little over a month (it was summer tbf). I have only played one game that wasn’t s5, and I didn’t even know it wasn’t s5 until I realized you could pick which season to play.
For me, Ebonite Outbreak on Hazard 5+ is a freaking nightmare. They constantly spawn in waves, much like exploder infestation, and force you to take out your pickaxe when you would much rather be shooting other bugs. If you've got the MORE BUGS setting on, there's so many of them, you cannot pickaxe them down fast enough and even if you're a driller, you get overwhelmed and run out of Impact Axes and Drill fuel. It's hell. Love the video.
As someone who has been using three-round burst on scout. It feels like it just needs blow through rounds oddly enough, which sadly the gk2 doesn't have
I had the absolute craziest moment of My DRG career so far this season. A bulk detonator spawned on an egg mission and I eventually blew it up. What I didn't notice (because I was above it) was that it was near an egg AND a core stone... Not only did the core stone trigger, an egg swarm triggered at the same time. Talk about going out with a bang. Me and Bosco barley made it and I feel like I wouldn't have survived on any class but driller with the frost cannon. Immediately after someone joined my game and I told them what just happened. Absolutely crazy, loving this season so much more than S4. I ran into a lythopgage corrupter ONCE in S5 and thought my game bugged. If I never see another lythopgage again it'll be too soon.
I wish secret secondary was not an anomaly but rather an option you can toggle, I like to use more secondary objectives mod a lot likewise, I wish haz 5+ was actually custom modifiers for all haz levels and not just haz 5 since I never play that hazard level
First, I started playing the game nearing the end of Season 4 and I don’t remember much about it because I was kind of just following what my friends were doing. I didn’t really start playing until 5 and I definitely have to say that a starting player this season is way more motivated to keep playing. Second, I thought the core stone was ok initially because it wasn’t too difficult, then I hated it because it got harder. Now I am actually enjoying it playing as the engineer or even playing with the engineer as the Driller
Something I personally wanna toss into the dark when it comes to Ebonite Outbreaks and Blood Sugar: - While it is true that singular Ebo-Glyphids aren't usually that big of a deal, in denser crowds or when split away from Molly in a cave with a huge room/many corridors and paths, any dwarf that's singled out from the group gets punished way harder than usually due to the almost-guaranteed melee-damage you will receive over time. I found myself getting downed more often than not on Haz 5, simply because I was underestimating these guys lol. Reminder that Driller's Drills also work here! Altho I feel like Berserker, Vampire and Se You In Hell could see more play in this modifier. - Depending on the mission type and additional modifiers, this can potentially make the mission free! Especially with disabled shields, as the increased damage resistance you get as compensation suddenly becomes a great upside to have here! My only genuine complain would be performance issues. Play this with Swarmageddon on a Haz 5 Solo Point Extraction and you'll see what I mean, the floor is health. Yeah I won't die, but my poor graphic card will lol. Also...does this imply that red sugar was crystallized bug blood the whole time?
The only bad overclock this season is the gk2 one. The main issue with it is 2 things 1-high single target damage oc is something that gk2 already has a ton, the result is for players to use besides enjoying the effects it needs to be better then stuff like A.I stability+bullets of mercy. 2-the dps nerf is a huge downside in sustain. It would only justify if it could one burst high priority targets if they still want to make it remain focused in single target department, because currently the only breakpoint it reachs is grunts. L would personally completely change its upsides to a explosion after hitting the full burst on the same target and test it like that, kinda like lok1 OC.
If they don't want to nerf the crawlers, I'd like to see a time limit added to the event. It really sucks to be across the map when someone starts the event, only to get there when everyone else is wiped and there's too many enemies to clear out.
Stalkers are fine for the most part....but i've had several times where those little buggers refused to make the slightest noise to announce themselves until someone got absolutely annihilated by it's shield shattering attack out of no where and suddenly everyone panics
The worst part about the core stone is just how taxing it is on lower end devices. Makes a microsoft PowerPoint presentation seem like 60 fps compared to my game sometimes
No rockpox = GOATed season. I do wish they added a feature to play old deep dives though, but that might be harder than just changing the Season / Battle Pass.
I might be in the minority, but I actually really don't enjoy this season's event. I do agree thematically it's really cool. But mechanically, I always dread doing it, even on reasonable hazards just cause it's not that fun. The crux of the event really is around not getting overwhelmed by the Core stone crawlers, because killing the stone itself is not difficult. Which makes the crawlers stats being so highly tuned, actually a big problem. Them being so durable, makes fighting them feel fruitless and lame, and leads to the main strat being how can we ignore them long enough to survive and kill the stone. The heart stone mission currently feels like a much better implementation of this kind of idea, while you don't fight the stone itself in that mission, you have a much more dynamic situation as you run through the phases and try to survive the hoard. And the hoard is enjoyable to fight cause it's the bugs that we are used to, and have been well tuned. Maybe I would enjoy this event more if the crawlers well less durable, but I also worry that fundamentally shooting a practically immobile rock 3 times while dealing with a static horde of hard to track enemies will never be enjoyable without something else to spice it up.
Yea the concept of stingtails and septics are so broken tbh. One forces you out of your position, and the other denies your safe area. While Opressors can do both at the same time, it feels much more fair to fight them than a singular stingtail or septic. Both stingtails and septics have very weird and clunky hitboxes, making them really awkward to shoot at, which is super distracting as when you focus on them, you can forget there are hundreds more bugs around you😂
I had a mission with the Duck and Cover AND the blood sugar modifiers and the first 5 minutes was, " HOLY CRAP IMMA DIE!" And it was a salvage mission to boot, but by the end I was laser focused and I think it was a great challenge. It keeps u on ur toes, and forces u to have good priorities as far as what enemies need to die first.
The only issue about core stone for me is the health of the crawlers I love the damage and speed, they're hard to lock down and can easily down you Now why tf do they also take a full mag to down? That's the only issue, they need to go down much faster than they do
Haz 5+ is really hard and instead of experimenting w builds, you must power level your build and feel whole room with all bugs, be concentrated as hell and make your part While on haz 5 swarm was like w ~50 bugs, on haz 5+2+2+2+2 swar became shitstorm w really fast exploders, swarm of makteras, army of swarmers and wall of pretos So if u don't have specific build and brilliant teamwork u will never beat even one mission on haz 5+8 But on the bright side after haz 5+, regular haz 5 feels so childish also elite deep dive within
My only issue with the Core Stone event, is how deadly it is once you have 3 or 4 players. If you don' thave a Gunner, it's basically "prepare to suffer"
Blood sugar drove me negatively mad because I was just dying in caves empty of ennemies on certain missions, but as a gunner on others it drove me positively berzerk, mowing through hordes of ennemies in melee without my sheidl and without giving a fuck about it.
The Season is fine. But Core Spawn is a serious blow to Multiplayer. It just takes 1 NOOB……! Seriously though, DRG shines (ed) as an example for Co-Op Rando Sessions. Core Spawn runs against the grain.
Honestly I feel like the cornerstone is nearly impossible to achieve without ziplines taking you out of spawns melee range. I feel like they jump too fast, hit too hard and are way too present and respawning to be dealt with in ground. I personally can't, so I just jump on zips and focus the stone.
One fun thing you can do with a driller is to dig the black box or uplink into the ground then get a engi to fill the hole with platforms and use micro conductor addon to make the driller hole into a full size bug zapper (also if you use plasacrete catalyst it's even more fun)
I actually went on a had 4 morkie mining mission solo with the duck and cover warning and my god was it difficult. Acid and web spitters everywhere, Plus there was a tyrant weed that spawned towards the end. I was able to complete the mission alive cause I was playing scout with the M1000 & Zhukovs
only thing i have a gripe about is the duck and cover modifier as it is mactera plague but way worse. septic spreaders are still by far my most hated enemy theyve ever added and its a modifier that makes them even more oppressive. ill give septic spreaders one thing, they managed to move acid spitters out from being my most hated monster because now i have something i hate even more. at least acid spitters need line of sight in order to attack you. dont know why stingtails got a nerf when septics i still find to have been the worse of the two. other than that i really enjoyed this season and what it brought to the table
@@miniwhiffy3465 ig you're right, I'm thinking like for specific ones. I only want overclocks for driller and really mostly interested in stuff for sludge pump in terms of primary weapons, so the amount of cores I'd get that I don't really care for would probably outnumber the ones i do
The bit about them changing Deep Scan to be easier during the crystal search is fascinating to me, because I didn't remember them doing that, and indeed, I looked through the patch notes, and they never did that. The only tweaks (aside from some bug fixes I suppose counting too - a missing shout for nearing the crystal and that special terrain around them not generating on latejoin) was making the height difference indicator show when the scanner is in the blue 'distant' mode. They never made Deep Scan easier, you just got better at it because finding the crystals really isn't hard at all when you understand the information the scanner is giving you.
I haven't been liking this season very much at all, the scale bramble can be absolutely game halting if you're too busy dealing with tons of various enemies at once which require absolute focus to kill, such as stingtails and septic spreaders, but that's just the least of the problems. The stalker does WAY too much damage and therefore forces you to completely halt everything you're doing and locate it simply just to not die or take SEVERE undeserved damage ALONG with a extremely powerful debuff... The core stone event is straight up horrible, disgusting even. If you don't use a gunner's zipline to avoid the way too overpowered minions that spawn, you're pretty much just dead. They have WAY too much hp, are insanely fast for no good reason, can leap, do PRAETORIAN levels of damage, if not oppressor level, and are absolutely inescapable. I've found the only way to stay alive at all against them without a zipline is to either have an elaborate parkour path that they can't keep up with (nearly impossible except for in sandblasted corridors with the stalagmites using platforms), or you can run second wind and literally just run away, just BARELY being able to escape constant damage so long as the perk activates. And I don't mean just running around the room, nope, I mean LEAVING THE AREA ENTIRELY, just GONE, not doing the event, and even then you barely can survive. If they just nerfed ANY of these aspects of the core spawn then it'd be a plausible system, but we have NO CHOICE but to get tons of core stones and deal with this nonsense because the core stones alone give us about as much performance pass exp as an ENTIRE MISSION?! I HATE this season for that fact alone. I want to get this nonsense done ASAP so that I can go do ANY OTHER SEASON without having to worry about stalkers or core stones! Counterplay should not be confined to being solely preventive measures, like the stalker, there needs to be a way to fight back and not ever get pushed back from ONE single REGULAR enemy. Heck the core spawn actually feels like I'm fighting mini glypid DREADNOUGHTS! I just can't get over how stupid it is... NERF THEM!!!
I haven’t played this game since they began using a seasonal content and battlepass model instead of the classic update schedule. It’s interesting to see what’s been added since I left, but I can’t bring myself to come back to yet another battlepass induced slog of massive content drops and then months of absolutely nothing.
Season 5 is great. Only comment is about the crawlers being surprisingly tanky. I feel like they have the offensive power of a slasher and the durability of a goo bomber. Really I think what they need to do to balance them is increase the critical hit damage we deal when they open their face to attack you. It reduces how tough they are by allowing players with aim to take them out faster during a vulnerable moment, which if they fail will almost certainty result in taking damage
Blood sugar is the first anomaly/warning they've added that i simply will not do. Its too dependent on what sort of mission it is. Low oxygen was like this too but balanced in such a way that it was challenging but most of the time still fun. Blood sugar pushes it too far on mission types with low enemy spawns. Personally i think they should make the drop of sugar from enemies 25% but also halt your health loss at 1hp. Basically it can't kill you on its own but its harder to keep your health up...balances it a bit more towards the fun side of challenging rather than the frustrating i think.
Looking at these comments, I might be the only one who doesn't like Deep Scan, but the searching part can be so tedious and unintuitive (I wish the sound cues were louder and the height indicator more obvious since not everyone will realize that the shapes are supposed to mean something) while the drilling part can be too boring on low hazard with barely anything to kill and only gets interesting at haz 4+. Also Molly should really get to extraction faster in this mission because in big caves it can take ages. Overall the idea of this mission is nice, but it really needs some improvements.
Hey, someone have this problem that after some time entire team can't interact and you and bullets just go through bugs and objects? Please help if it's not glitch.
I hate corestone crawlers. See if you have an accident that starts an event (Bet-C, scale bramble, Harold, prospector, rival menace, core infuser) they are either not too inconvenient to finish or sort of fuck off on their own, save for a poorly placed tyrant weed (once had one spawn right on top of morkite extractor). BUT THE CORE INFUSER WILL LITERALLY SPIT OUT TENS UPON TENS OF CRAWLERS IN SECONDS. YOU TRY TO SHOOT A FEW AND LIKE A HYDRA MORE COME OUT. I keep my hosted lobbies on S4 because rockpox is more interesting to deal with. Like, it's not fun to deal with, but it's less unfun than corestone bullshit.
Man the worst assignment mission for haz 5+ unlock was definitely sabotage, a neat cheese against the caretaker is using Engi’s EM discharge oc for Stubby, create a bridge using the platform gun towards the caretaker’s head, and place the two sentries on top of the head, and just endlessly shoot the sentries with stubby as the aoe blast is big enough to hit the caretaker’s vents and eyes.
I stepped away from drg for awhile cuz regular haz 5 was too easy. Now with the haz 5+ modifiers it has made it alot more fun. Gotta think about your build more and strategize with teammates to get through it especially on escort missions.
That would be amazing for a game like DRG. But, as far i know, implementing cross-play between consoles is very hard and expensive. Maybe they don't have the resources.
about balancing OCs i think mortar rounds is terrible, i just think that nothing still perform better than this oc, i wish there would be no ammo penalty or a flat 100 ammo... about lok-1 the weapon sucks and still no overclock make it good unless ammo get up to 700 at more, or something very different that make it better for crowd control... and there are other OCs that i think are bad like subata explosive reload, half ammo is crazy
Lok-1 with Executioner and the upgrade that adds damage from status effects works well if you combine it with Inferno Breach Cutter. Otherwise it's a very clumsy weapon, yes. But that particular combo is *really* fun.
@@katier9725 ammo sucks just ammo, better lock one of the new turret arc and shard diffractor for when you need to kill something fast, these combo can make an EDD use only one supply pod total for the entire EDD, lock-1 i don't think so
DRG's the only live service I've ever played that's done right. Not that there was really any FOMO to begin with, but Season 5 definitely now made sure there's no FOMO. No microtransactions, no premium currency, just unfiltered fun with seasonal content that stays forever. Sure there's the DLC, but the base game has so much content it's almost criminal. And let's not forget Dwarven Legacy (the full DLC bundle) goes on sale frequently. I once got the game + all DLC + OST for like $15 instead of $100.

"Corestone event is great"
- Agree. I think everyone agrees the zipline cheese removes quite a bit of the excitement, but even with the cheese the visuals, music, sounds, and freaky-ass jumping aliens all come together into a phenomenal event.
"The Corespawn are exceedingly durable for how small, quick, and aggressive they are"
- Big agree.
Overclocks
- Generally agree. The worst thing I can say about the GK2 overclock is just that it doesn't feel like it accomplishes anything new, because hot dang all the other overclocks come with very novel and attractive use cases.
Mutators and Anomalies
- Generally agree.
As opposed to gunner which tends to carry the former in these events
Also some crowd control methods straight up don’t work on them like repellant additive which I learned the hard way when they started ignoring it and dashing all over the platforms
@@KunnocI swear I’ve only ever gotten the sound one time. I only ever see them.
Only ever played blood sugar on elimination, but it absolutely sucked.
Disagree with your take about sludge pump being bad for them as I just slow them down a lot with the corrosive dot
@@thegoldenraysoftheglorious1180-- Same, Sludge Pump is so good for corespawn. Especially with slowing and extra DoT, a single charged shot is usually enough to shut them down.
I love sludgepump on haz 3.
It slows them down to a crawl.
(it is haz3 tho, I know any build works there)
DRG is great. I’m still having a blast 2 months later. And if you look how this game has fair compared to others like it (cough HD2) this game has proved to be leagues ahead of other games out right now. I hope they continue to give it love and expand it. Season 6 pleaseeeee
3:40 "Problem solving and detective work" all I hear is "Use C4 it make brain not hurt"
For the deep scan mission, i wish that you would drop into a horde of bugs. Currently it feels like the mission is already over once you drop in, as all thats left is to collect the morkite seeds and jetboot out.
I like the flexibility of the season. The ability to pick the season you want and the ability to tweak Haz5+
Another cool thing about changing seasons is that it adjusts the odds of finding specific season events. I'm personally just playing the seasons to unlock all weapon skins for each class at a time and it's giving me alot of variety has opposed to playing the same season event over and over
I consider blood sugar a +20% speed mutation with sweet tooth. It also constantly spawns a small bunch of swarmers so you can always heal
Really informative video! I didn't know that there was a lot more stuff added than I originally thought! Keep up the good work J!
Same lol
For the Blood Sugar anomaly, small ennemies spawn more frequently. Mostly swarmers, sometimes grunts spawn, are easy to deal with and you don't really lose HP, at least it is not really noticeable for me. It's become one of my favorite anomalies in egg hunts because I can just pop as many eggs I want and stand in the middle of my fire as driller and not die while the ennemies feed me with their blood.... ahem
....
I actually had a really good time on a Duck and Cover mini-mule mission recently. The uplink box was out in the open and my first thought was "How the hell am I going to defend this position against ranged enemies?"
Then I remembered bunkers are a thing. Dug one out under the uplink and the mission ended up being easier than normal.
Hot take: the weak point nodules are super annoying to find and kill. Or else there is just an invincible turret firing at you
Basically without a scout to reach unreachable areas where the spots could be at or without the mole oc to pierce terrain into the weak point node, the scalebramble is just a nuisance
@@preythestarsthe engineer can also just trap it in cheese
The Core Spawns feel absolutely ridiculous, but they become a joke with the Gunner cheese strats. I wish they were tweaked. It feels like the sheer amount of corespawns means you can't take one step without being hurt by either their attacks or the acid pools.
The acid pools should definitely be more visible (bright purple smoke maybe?)
Otherwise, I personally really like where the event is at difficulty-wise.
My only gripe with this season is that the rift spawns are way too tanky
It feels useless fighting them sometimes, specially in harder difficulties
10:25 Nah, they are perfect as fast enemies and the damage they do, the problem is indeed their large health pool.
13:06 Smyat Trigger
For me, Ebonite Outbreak on Hazard 5+ is a freaking nightmare. They constantly spawn in waves, much like exploder infestation, and force you to take out your pickaxe when you would much rather be shooting other bugs. If you've got the MORE BUGS setting on, there's so many of them, you cannot pickaxe them down fast enough and even if you're a driller, you get overwhelmed and run out of Impact Axes and Drill fuel. It's hell.
Love the video.
I like the seasonal event (corestone) because you can use that one glitch to insta it, and the overclocks mostly all hit home, solid 8/10
I wish secret secondary was not an anomaly but rather an option you can toggle, I like to use more secondary objectives mod a lot
likewise, I wish haz 5+ was actually custom modifiers for all haz levels and not just haz 5 since I never play that hazard level
Fun fact: the driller’s axes 1 hit the seeds’ shells due to the axes doing melee damage inherently.
Something I personally wanna toss into the dark when it comes to Ebonite Outbreaks and Blood Sugar:
- While it is true that singular Ebo-Glyphids aren't usually that big of a deal, in denser crowds or when split away from Molly in a cave with a huge room/many corridors and paths, any dwarf that's singled out from the group gets punished way harder than usually due to the almost-guaranteed melee-damage you will receive over time.
The main issue with it is 2 things
1-high single target damage oc is something that gk2 already has a ton, the result is for players to use besides enjoying the effects it needs to be better then stuff like A.I stability+bullets of mercy.
2-the dps nerf is a huge downside in sustain. It would only justify if it could one burst high priority targets if they still want to make it remain focused in single target department, because currently the only breakpoint it reachs is grunts. L would personally completely change its upsides to a explosion after hitting the full burst on the same target and test it like that, kinda like lok1 OC.
about the core spawn my only problem was lag, sometimes spawns so many that my game start lagging
The stalker is fun till you suddenly get 3 back to back right after you killed the previous ones
true
You haven’t seen the stalkers in helldivers 2 yet
@@Gildedshadowassasin i have, and they're honestly less annoying imo
If they don't want to nerf the crawlers, I'd like to see a time limit added to the event. It really sucks to be across the map when someone starts the event, only to get there when everyone else is wiped and there's too many enemies to clear out.
Nothing scarier than dropping into a room with no quick escape and there are multiple barrage infectors
Stalkers are fine for the most part....but i've had several times where those little buggers refused to make the slightest noise to announce themselves until someone got absolutely annihilated by it's shield shattering attack out of no where and suddenly everyone panics
16:59 I believe it automatically spawns bugs regularly so you don't run out of health
The worst part about the core stone is just how taxing it is on lower end devices. Makes a microsoft PowerPoint presentation seem like 60 fps compared to my game sometimes
Ty for the heart
Both stingtails and septics have very weird and clunky hitboxes, making them really awkward to shoot at, which is super distracting as when you focus on them, you can forget there are hundreds more bugs around you😂
Deep Scan mission, make this literally more like a drilling and mining game :)
I didn’t realize some of my favorite mods were actually new that’s kinda cool.
The only issue about core stone for me is the health of the crawlers
I love the damage and speed, they're hard to lock down and can easily down you
Now why tf do they also take a full mag to down? That's the only issue, they need to go down much faster than they do
9:58 this has been patched
it doesnt work for me since yesterday
Haz 5+ is really hard and instead of experimenting w builds, you must power level your build and feel whole room with all bugs, be concentrated as hell and make your part
While on haz 5 swarm was like w ~50 bugs, on haz 5+2+2+2+2 swar became shitstorm w really fast exploders, swarm of makteras, army of swarmers and wall of pretos
So if u don't have specific build and brilliant teamwork u will never beat even one mission on haz 5+8
But on the bright side after haz 5+, regular haz 5 feels so childish also elite deep dive within
Shoutout to whoever gave me a membership 😎
Helldivers 2 fell off, but drg still going strong.
I dont like the new mission type simply because the xp reward is pathetically low compared to most missions
Duck and Cover is great, as someone who loved the Doom eternal master levels on ultra nightmare. Glad they just did it! :D
Had a driller join my game, review the "duck and cover" and then proceed to build a home and never go out until the mission was over
One fun thing you can do with a driller is to dig the black box or uplink into the ground then get a engi to fill the hole with platforms and use micro conductor addon to make the driller hole into a full size bug zapper (also if you use plasacrete catalyst it's even more fun)
The crawlers are pretty weak to status effects, but they should probably be even weaker
Only complaint I got is this: please for the love of god ghost ship, make explosions generate heat on Combustive Goo Mix.
I would really like if overclocks could be earned through assignments
They can be, there is literally a weekly assignment that gives them
@@miniwhiffy3465 ig you're right, I'm thinking like for specific ones.
Have they fixed the gunner cheese?
As of yet, no.
@@cheese_man4952 Thank goodness. I love having the option to skip the hoard of crazy bullet sponges.
Does the mortar rounds for the Autocannon make the Carpet Bomber overclock obsolete?
I wouldn't say obsolete because carpet bomber is a lot easier to use.
Feels good man
duck and cover hardest mission that i don't know why you not mentioned is 100% escort duty... + i wish blood sugar would be an warning
The shield bug can be fit into lore. So patching it will lose out on L O R E
I remember commenting about this as a suggestion on the Discord and getting a massive amount of thumbs downs haha
Still can't belive they add a harder level than haz 5 🤣😅
Season 5 is definitely better than last season imo
Agreed!
Conductive thermals is my new favorite OC for Scout. Goodbye funny bouncing balls, I'd rather make dreads burn for no exact reason.
So mich better then season 4 loved the stuff added but holy shit it was chaotic and just not realy fun
Past 2 times I tried the gunner shield glitch it hasn't worked so I think its fixed now
I believe you have to have the max Radius possible to make it work and timing it is tricky
It’s been months already?
I tired to get hazard 5+ unlock missions, but there were so much noobs and internet problems that I just quit trying and started grinding overclocks
Go solo. You and Bosco got this! Or find a good team, or wait until you get good randoms. They do exist.
Ya it's easy to just solo lol
@@blakefenslerjr4858 If Haz 5 were easy, what would be the point? It's there to challenge you so you can become a better player, if you want.
I totally agree. overall i love S05 tho :)
I agree that blood sugar is problematic. If you're on elimination or sabotage without swarmageddon then it is very unfair and unfun.
It's nice
core stone is so hard without setting up with gunner or cheesing it
crawlers would be fine if their weakspots were vulnerable more often.
I stepped away from drg for awhile cuz regular haz 5 was too easy. Now with the haz 5+ modifiers it has made it alot more fun. Gotta think about your build more and strategize with teammates to get through it especially on escort missions.
I just want crossplay :(
That would be amazing for a game like DRG. But, as far i know, implementing cross-play between consoles is very hard and expensive. Maybe they don't have the resources.
I second this. I play on PS5 but have quite a few friends who play on PC. Would like to play with them but alas I can not.
about balancing OCs i think mortar rounds is terrible, i just think that nothing still perform better than this oc, i wish there would be no ammo penalty or a flat 100 ammo... about lok-1 the weapon sucks and still no overclock make it good unless ammo get up to 700 at more, or something very different that make it better for crowd control... and there are other OCs that i think are bad like subata explosive reload, half ammo is crazy
Lok-1 with Executioner and the upgrade that adds damage from status effects works well if you combine it with Inferno Breach Cutter. Otherwise it's a very clumsy weapon, yes. But that particular combo is *really* fun.
What are you on about? Lok 1 is my favourite weapon, it absolutely slaps with executioner
@@katier9725 ammo sucks just ammo, better lock one of the new turret arc and shard diffractor for when you need to kill something fast, these combo can make an EDD use only one supply pod total for the entire EDD, lock-1 i don't think so
core stone without gunner cheese is unplayable compared to anything else in the game difficulty wise
waaaaa ur voice processed wierd ears hurty! 😭
i love the stalker it makes me look around much more then i used to
Kinda miss the rockpox ngl
DRG's the only live service I've ever played that's done right. Not that there was really any FOMO to begin with, but Season 5 definitely now made sure there's no FOMO. No microtransactions, no premium currency, just unfiltered fun with seasonal content that stays forever. Sure there's the DLC, but the base game has so much content it's almost criminal. And let's not forget Dwarven Legacy (the full DLC bundle) goes on sale frequently. I once got the game + all DLC + OST for like $15 instead of $100.
I still find Deep Scan kinda ass to play. But core stone is really cool.
The new mission type is so fucking lame on max complexity or length. It just turns into 4 people running around in an empty cave for a while, even on haz5+
The lithophage made me quit the game so I love the new season.
