Funnily enough, neuro-lasso is actually a staple for one particular build I use: my dreadnought hunter build. Running a 2-3-2-1-2 with neuro-lasso helps it perform well enough against regular bugs, but it cripples dreads so my partner can put on the pain. Slows reduce enemy turn speed, meaning its easier to dosido the big lugs, and the tier 5 mod means any dread that turns its back on you can get lit up. I tend to pair it with a hyper propellant PGL for burst, but I think any secondary works fine. I just right click/melee to terminate the locks early if I need to. Just to clarify: I never play DRG alone, so a lot of my builds revolve around support and survivability. I don't care about my dps if my driller/scout attack dog of a friend runs a build best described as a war crime lol.
I kind of struggle playing engineer, not because he's difficult but I find myself using executioner and breach cutter basically every time because it feels like they're so powerful. Most powerful weapon combo in the game imo
@@agamemnon7518 I used ECR for long time and loved it but it makes ammo efficiency even worse than it is as it lowers max ammo and your damage. Sure explosions make up for it but still i found out you can do better with Seeker Rounds. they don't reduce your dmg neither ammo but instead what they do is secretly increase your dmg and ammo. How? well thro fact that every bullet your fire has 100% chance to hit the target. There is no lost bullets that hit wall if enemy is in cover or your team mate that jumped in front of you. and for the dmg increase you ignore every armor in the game. even base grunts have armor and you totally ignore it all. you can fire at opressors without worry and through walls. also no friendly fire with this. so this sure gives you more dmg on top of already strong gun. With Seeker rounds LOKI becomes a true Smart Rifle that is so easy and efficient to use. ROF and slower reload is not big downside. Only problem is when you get lots of enemy close on you but this is where you should use your secondary like breach cutter or PGL.
I am a big fan of inferno breach cutter + executioner lok, it's one of my all time favorite builds, especially bc inferno can set up fire for lok to do more damage if you take that upgrade
Dont agree with everything in the video but loved the way you included gameplay clips along with your tier list, awesome video. Would love to see one for gunner and scout
Good tier list, and helpful information! Not sure if it's too late for a format change, but would you consider splitting the rest of this series into two videos for primary and secondary weapons? You'd get twice the content, and the videos themselves would be a comfortable length.
Seeker rounds is a little pointless if you're able to adjust your aim to a somewhat decent degree where it still hits even around certain corners and terrain but it's still useful for niche situations. I even adjust my aim for hiveguard dreadnought which works most of the time even though you can't specifically target the weakspots after killing the babies
Micro conductor with the breach cutter is my “try hard” loadout. The electrified platforms can completely invalidate grounded swarms and the breach cutter is decent against the big guys. I sometimes forget to even throw down turrets but it almost doesn’t matter lol
Can't disagree with you more with the return to sender (25:30) Yes, the overclock isn't the best when used on medium bugs on walls (as you showed in the video), but in my opinion it is the single BEST oc if not for the weapon, but in game in general, it feels borderline overpowered. Now let me explain: - ammo efficient (you mentioned it yourself in the video) - lets you wipe the hordes of enemies both in front and in back of you - doesn't really output any less damage if you shoot another shot as soon as you return the previous one at the medium range (you shouldn't use anything with such a slow projectile in a long range anyway imo) The only con that I am able to notice (outside from the fact that you'll need to learn yourself and teach your party to play skipping rope lol) is that it actually does get some time getting used to, but (and I understand that it's subjective) it is so much fun once you do. The oc makes you think in planes, making you look for the right spot to shoot the projectile for the maximum area covered, makes shooting dreadnoughts, caretaker's shields, praetorians, oppressors and other slow big boys very satisfying since you're basically bursting through them doubling the damage with every shot. Also once you get used to the timings and no longer need a visual cue to return the projectile, you start feeling like a badass that doesn't look at explosions I feel like if this tier list was made on the basis of effectiveness, then the oc AT LEAST deserved the B tier for not making the weapon worse, though in my opinion it is the easiest S :)

ok hang on we need to talk about micro-conductor + catalyst that combo is actually cracked because t5a stacks with catalyst's DOUBLE DAMAGE for a crazy output. alotta people see catalyst for the explosion part but don't realize that when you shoot a plat it also doubles the damage and radius of the shard. so your getting +100% damage to all bugs in a 4.2m radius with an additional +30% if they're in the micro-conductor disk. and if things are getting heated or a heavy bug pops up, you can detonate the plat for 500 damage (with fall off) Lazy Maybe has a fantastic video talking about the shard and is the source of all my shard info.
The shard’s automated beam control is one of the faster ways to wipe out oppressors and pretorians. Combo that with the ultimate crowd control that is the Stubby’s EMP and you got the tool to deal with the big and the bad and the other tool to deal with the rest. Just don’t use the upgrade that increases the battery capacity to like 100 or you will then be wasting ammo in most cases.
Feel like you could just as easily if not more easily and quicker do the exact same thing with overdrive while also just having a base laser for any situation.
Personally I love Spinning Death so much that using the normal weapon is strange to me; I'm so used to firing a short range triple beam of centripetal doom that whenever I unequip the overclock it feels weird to me. With triple canal it SHREDS through big enemies, I personally would put it a bit higher.
Ive been really enjoying explosive chemical rounds lately. It is an overclock that you specifically need to know how to use though to make it good. For instance you really should take ammo in tier 1, and the upgrade in tier 2 that shrinks the lense. If you play the weapon normally by locking onto as many targets as possible, youll run out of ammo very, very quickly, but if you focus on 3 round bursting enemies at a time, ammo issues become a thing of the past. As you briefly touched on.
Inferno is bugged to not reduce dmg due to the way it converts dmg types. It actually ends up increasing dmg by 40%. It’s easily the best of the “normal” breach cutter ocs. I also think you are heavily undervaluing roll control. It is easily the best crowd control engi has, giving ridiculous amounts of stun and slow with plasma trail, as well as effortlessly clearing swarmers and shockers. I’d say it makes haz 5+ all mods relatively easy so long as you have enough ammo. Imo a lot of ppl heavily overrate lwc, ammo is almost never an issue on bc and in most cases the massive 40% dmg buff + heat on inferno is going to increase your ammo economy more (hell it basically one shots spitballers) while massively increasing dps
Putting inferno and executioner in A tier, while this OC combo it's classic haz 5+ meta build is strange, but not everyone plays haz 5+, so i guess it's ok. Basically executioner gives +50% damage to weakpoint when all locks are used, and normally goes with 11112, which practically doubles damage to burning enemy weakpoint. While inferno cutter sets most enemies on fire with one shot, and helps with swarms.
Eraser doesn't give more ammo it makes your magazine bigger. plus more locks. bad overclock if you ask me. I wonder who would need any of this on LOKI as it already has good mag size and lock number already plus there are way better overclocks. Same thing goes for armor break module. you get nothing but better armor break and only with full locks. What is the point of this overclock when you have Seeker rounds that don't make armor shred faster but completely ignore it all the time making you do more dmg plus all the ammo you have, every single bullet is 100% going to hit. no wasted bullets. So if you ask me Eraser and Armor Break module goes into D tier and need some buff in the future. Seeker Rounds are S tier for me.
Feedback loop gets always bigger and stronger and it doesn`t matter what you shoot or if you actually hit something. So it makes sence to use the upgrade which turns killed enemys back into ammo. This way the longer you shoot, the more grunts you can easylie kill. But you`ll have to watch at as to not to use all if your battery at once. Try this. It is really fun
I'm gonna be honest. Some of these placements feel like they really are coming from face value. This tier list is just completely strange in terms of what criteria is present, so this tier list (which already tier lists aren't good at conveying) just feels like load of nothing for new players.
I'd put Hyperalloy Assembly in the S-Tier, it actually makes the Stubby do really good direct single-target damage for the first time ever. Also, Smrt Trigger OS should be A. It's not better than Explosive Chemical Rounds, but it makes the gun much more usable in hectic moments such as Duck and Cover missions, I really love it.
