When guitarist Dexter Holland and bassist Greg Kriesal decided to form a band in 1984, neither of them could play an instrument; they just wanted to have fun. Nearly 36 years later, The Offspring still release hit albums and tour the globe regularly. In this rare interview from 2004 they talk about the efforts they go through to make their music sound universal, why Europe has always been a home for the band, how they avoided a sophomore slump with their now legendary album Smash and the moment they realised they could make it as professional musicians.
A PhD doctor who played one of the coolest music in the late 90s.
The crazy thing is that there's another 2 phd doctors whos do the same since the 80's
@@rafaelplacce there are plenty of celebs in music / acting that has phds way way more than two
Offspring is the greatest band ever
Im 47 and recently heard Smash and im thinking its almost as good as Appetite For Destruction these guys are pure talent
I discovered offspring in my late 40s I’m 57 and still love them seen them 3 times
Love The Offspring. I could tell they were great guys just by listening to their music. This interview confirmes that.
Noodles is actually a terrible person in real life. And a Twitter Troll
Dexter is completely different when he play guitar and singing with Dexter on normal guy at interview, he so humble and kindly person, his speech show he are Educate person
He has a PhD in biology I believe as well.
Yes, it opposite about his image, i remember when schooltime and started to listen the offspring at 90's i always think that the vocalist is maniac, or bad guy.. his 90's image is very bad boy
This became the greatest punk band in the world.
Ever heard of No friends of harry..South Africa Love you..big love at you and yours! 2024 was seriousely awesome 🦄🙏🥂🌠
I've seen this interview before on RUclips but it must have been removed. From what I know the year is 2004, the Irish TV show is called "Planet Rock Profiles" and the interviewer is Tom Dunne.
Imagine going to school and noodles was the custodian lol that would be awesome
Damn, I've read parts of this interview but never have seen it until now. Thanks for posting!
Wow! I see you in so many offspring vids even I am a huge fan, are they your fav? Like I can't choose between early green day, early blink, Offspring and Pennywise. But I think The Offspring and Pennywise my favs
i was obsessed with offsprings music but never have seen an interview. Theyre really cool dudes
Noodles is an asshole nowadays
My favorite band :)
Playing in Woodstock, getting PhD and also be a pilot.... All in the same lifetime? what the actually ffff.... Dexter Holland is more than a genius
Ixnay was a cool record to me, they started sounding a little more polished then, the last album I had was Americana, interesting band for sure, I’m in the rabbit hole feeling nostalgic 😄
God, i taped this back on vhs about 2004. Not seen it for years
I adore The Offpsring lmao
Wow, Dexter is so well spoken. It's no surprise he has a PhD in Molecular Biology.
The PhD came a couple of decades after the music fame started
Exactly let them.people know,Pretty Fly was one of most pirated songs and still your album was one of best selling albums
Are they in Ireland here drinking Guinness??? Love it 🤣🤣🍻
It must be very far away from California cause they keep saying they are from LA when they are from orange county but people don't know OC like LA so they say LA 🤣
Dext looks so normal here...little did they know he's so cool but still a good guy nevertheless.
That's Guinness they're drinking 😳 Alright, was it in Ireland? Cool guys. Love them since my childhood
You can get Guinness beer anywhere. We have it in Canada.
@@devilsoffspring5519 I know. Just asking if that was the case by any chance.
@Tomas Vircik yes it was in Ireland
Who would Dexter Holland like to meet I wonder lol
Hes stay in his 20s

Does hour music call to you?,
Any way you could help me with a place like to day. I like have to leave my uncles house. 2500 mountain rd bath pa 18014. 484 892 5976.
Pennywise and NOFX
Big difference between bands who Play Punk vs bands who Are Punk....
Offspring was always too polished to be Real Punk - but I still love em...
this is what I don't get with a lot of music fans, "being true" to a certain lifestyle/stereotype. what an actually fake thing to do. they made music they liked and it just so happened that they liked punk.
@@ivankustic2457 Most music genres have a culture within their music.
Like when Vanilla Ice said he was from the Streets and was called out on it..
