I had a theory (just a theory mind you) that all of the "Quitting smoking is harder then quitting heroin" thing was just Big Tobacco feeding fear into people to deter them from trying or at least prolong the success of it. For the longest time when I smoked, I was like "Man when I quit it's going to be so hard and suck so bad". Then one day, I was so sick of being depressed over being a "smoker" that I just said F-it and stopped. After 13 years. Boom. The only thing in the way is the idea of how hard it is, in my opinion. The will and the want is the power! Good job on quitting, it's so gross.

I quit right after watching your vid. I wasn't even thinking of quitting that day: just saw your video and decided to give it a try. I put the pack on my desk at around 6pm. The six hours prior to going to sleep were tough, not gonna lie. But in the morning I felt better. The next day I was asked to help paramedics carry an elderly guy to the ambulance. My hands were shaky and weaker than usual, but nothing terrible. In reality, it felt like a mild cold. Two days later, no withdrawal symptoms at all.
Two bloody days! All it took after almost 15 years of smoking. If I'd known it was that easy, I'd have quit years ago. In my opinion, it was easy for me because:
    - I kept the pack on my desk at all times. Knowing that I can go back at any time took a lot of weight off of my shoulders. I'm glad I wasn't trying to hide or throw away the cigs. Would have been too hard and therefore more stressful.
    - I never planned anything. I gave it a try, and just went with the flow, ready to accept defeat. I think by not planning anything I got rid of that 'life-altering event fright' people often get when they try to prepare themselves for weeks. I was just fooling around and trying to see how far I can go. No pressure.
My advice. Unless you have some contraindications, which you can discuss with your doctor, I'd say go cold-turkey. Don't waste any time on preparation. Don't listen to those telling you how hard it's going to be. Don't watch any RUclips videos showing people pacing their rooms and shaking as if they were quitting heavy drugs. It's no worse than a mild cold. And I believe it's better to quit a few hours before going to bed because when you wake up in the morning, you'll be at least 12 hours smoke-free. Btw, quit on a weekend so that you could avoid stress for at least one day. And try not to worry too much. Try it like it's no big deal, and be ready to accept any result. It's not like someone is going to electrocute your wife if you fail, right? I believe that's exactly the mentality that helped me succeed. That, and the fact that I started telling everyone I don't smoke soon when I quit. It's funny how a simple phrase like that can make you proud of yourself and boost your morale.
I've been smoke-free for almost two years now. Soon after quitting smoking, I started walking in a park just to enjoy the fresh air. I saw a bunch of dudes doing calisthenics. I tried to do a pull-up and failed. I approached the guys, asked them for advice; now we train together almost every day. All in all, I've lost weight, gained muscle, stopped sweating too much, and found new friends to hang out with. Oh, and I picked up cycling. Liked it so much that I took a solo 200-mile bike trip to visit my grandma. It's funny how much you miss out on by sucking on those cancer sticks.

Sarah, thank you for your video and talking about this. I turned it on my phone and listened to it while laying in the shower sick with nausea and alot of bad symptoms while letting my prescription for Promethazine kick in so I can get some relief from misery. Basically, I have already been able to quit smoking for the most part, but lately I will have 1 or 2 black n mild cigars instead and I get really sick every time. It is like I am allergic to it now, but it's still such a struggle to keep away from them completely. It is such a mental and even an emotional battle. I even pray about it alot. Life is such a gift and I do not want to harm my body. So I will keep trying. Every time I give in and start feeling good and healthy, I somehow talk myself into smoking just 1 or 2 because I'm feeling better.. but the guilt and sickness that follows every time is simply Not worth it. I am glad you said "you have to remember how sick you felt and not want to live your life that way." Some people can tolerate it better than others, but I just get so sick from them now, like I have food poisoning. Also I am so worried about my heart health and all the severe cardiovascular tragedies that can happen. So again, thank you for making the video and effort put into it. It brought me some comfort and resolve while laying here sick and depressed.

I became horribly depressed in my late teens and through my early, mid, and even somewhat into my late 20's and early 30's. I use to be a health nut and really into healthy eating/exercising and hated cigarettes, but the fact that cigarettes kill people is kind of what sold me on them. These days I'm 80lbs over weight, I smoke and drink heavily all in the goal to hasten my demise. Yesterday I got drunk, smoked half a pack of menthol cigarettes with a menthol ball, and ate 7/8's of a large Little Caesars pizza for my "dinner" (mom had 1 slice). I think it was realizing that I will never, under any circumstances, ever, find a significant other, that made me start smoking, at least in a way.

Kudos to you for quitting smoking. I don't smoke and it's mostly because my grandma passed away from lung cancer when I was about 8-9 years old. My mom once told me that my grandma had caught her (my mom) smoking when my mom was younger and my grandma set a pack of cigarettes in front of her and told her to smoke the whole pack. Needless to say, my mom quit cold turkey when, I think, she was in middle school/high school. My grandpa also used to smoke but he quit. Thanks for sharing your story.

Hey Sarah so proud of you. I smoked for 8 years and tried quieting a bunch of times. I am happy to tell you that i quit for good. It has been about a year. Just wanted to share two thing that really helped me. the first is quit smoking hypnosis videos I found on youtube I highly recommend trying them. They rewire your thinking on smoking and give you more willpower. The second thing is accepting the fact that I will always crave cigarette when I face triggers and like you said if I slip sometimes i slipped three times this year smoked about four cigarettes but I just I don't take them as a failure. I take them as a feedback on how the trigger I faced was stronger than my willpower, this tells me to either try to prevent myself from being in the same situation again or to work on my willpower more. My ultimate goal is to have more willpower than the trigger/temptations so that I never smoke again. Hope this was helpful stay awesome.

the last video I have seen after my last cigarette , and it's 32 days and I am quite happy with my decision to quit smoking and drinking cold turkey both at once. Being a heavy drinker( alcoholic) and smoker after almost 10 years I chose life. Believe me it's not that hard if you just live in present after saying hard bye to these life spoilers. don't worry at all just in a month you will start feeling as you used to feel in your teenage when you were not a smoker. every wound heals with time but first you have to start little caring about it, God gave us the best of best machine (human body) with so strong engine and it's parts. we do a lot wrong with this machine but it can repair itself if we take little care, start caring otherwise no one gonna repair it.
one thing you should always repeat in your mind - thoughts would come ,thoughts would go ,don't play with them, let them come, let them go. Best of Luck. God bless you.

Thank you solo much for this video!!! I stopped smoking cigs the day after Valentine's…. relapsed 9 days later for about a 5 day binge weekend, got SUPER SICK… like SIIICCCKK enough to go to the doc and get on antibiotics which I had avoided for over 3 years! It was such a signal that it is time to Love Myself and let go of the past! Then I had my period the day before the full moon, I believe it was Saturday March 11... the cramps were severe… I caved and smoked 1 cigarette and a couple hits the next day… Then the sore throat came back with a vengeance! SOO… It's been about 8 days and today I was cleaning out my car, getting ready for a road trip and found one!!! I was battling so much like.. just smoke it, one won't hurt. Fuck man, the Mind is powerful, but I am so grateful I found your video. Can't wait to watch your update. I have been doing Kundalini Yoga to help and today I did a set for "detoxification" :) I'll post the link in another comment. SO much love sista. I just kept thinking as I am watching you, WOW she is glowing and soooo beautiful. Never would have guessed you were a smoker

I've quit cold turkey before but gained alot of weight. I went on Keto 3 months ago and lost 45 lbs. I told myself that when I got below 199 lbs. I'd quit smoking. I feel it's putting too many toxins in my liver. I have about 70 lbs. to lose and got a grip on my weight...I feel great! I need to find a replacement for when I get bored. That's when I smoke. I hate exercise, but maybe that will be a good way to get rid of the stress and boredom. I love smoking. I have no health problems. But I can feel better! BTW... your skin is beautiful!

I stopped smoking (again) - now almost week without nicotine. So I am just trying to get some reinforcement videos... even though I am fine as I have good mindset (from Allen Carr). I am drinking bit more coffee than before (but without cigarettes). Otherwise I feel much better already (as usually - that is always amazing on stopping smoking). I found most difficult not only to stop, but to not start again (as this happened to me several times).....Definitely I am trying to avoid alcohol now....on the other side I found small amounts of marijuana quite good for tranquility - helps me to calm down cravings actually (but not mix it with tobacco.... just pure weed). Now it's pretty good though (after week)..... it's more in mind ... so thanks for reinforcing my motivations :-).

Those who are trying to quit smoking
Drink water when they feel that thier lungs are dry
Water helps us to quit smoking 100%
    I quit smoking 100 times 😃
    Tonight I'm quitting again 😃
And i have a jug of water and chewing gum and fenel seeds for better digestive system 😉
Sarah why you worried when talking about chest pain
    Ooh sad
    That wasn't chest pain
That was the pain in lungs
Water is best thing to remove that pain 😊
I have a big experience to stop smoking and it's very easy to me
The things you need are WATER chewing gum and few fenel seeds just 10 or 15 if you feel stomach is not working good 😉
But everything work better when we stop smoking for 3 days
    After 3 days
    Forget about smoking
Because you're a normal personality and non smoker
You need to forget about smoking
And keep distance from smokers when they smoke
Just avoid it and hate it
    Sarah 😃
    You're strong 😊
    Thankyou!

Those stop smoking inspirational videos on RUclips really did it for me. That is scary stuff. That’s exactly where I was headed. Time and time again did I use my ‘ security blanket of ignorance’ to shield myself from the ugliness that smoking can result in. It’s the ostrich sticking his head in the sand. That’s all. Thank you for this video, and God bless you!

Hey there Sarah, Well while I am only seeing this video of yours now it was something I had saved in my "watch later" as I had been thinking about quitting smoking due to what a pack costs these days that it's getting a little crazy especially here in Australia....But I hope this comment finds you also STILL NOT smoking as it's obviously been a couple years since you posted this video of yours....
And I'm pleased to mention that as of today as of right now I've been nearly a full 24hrs into my quitting smoking and surprisingly it really isn't that hard....I haven't thought about smoking at all in this time, I just felt as I turned 35 just the other day and that I had been smoking about 10 cigarettes a day since I was about 19yrs old just like you that it was time to just quit cold turkey.....This way at my age I'm young enough for my body to heal & reject all the damage/toxins that I put into my body by having a cigarette.....
I never got chest pains like you had sometimes, But I will be interested to see what food tastes like after not smoking for a little while as I can still taste food now but you say you really do actually "taste" food after not smoking, I've heard or read that you can gain weight after not smoking did you find this the case for yourself??
Anyways thanks for your helpful video, It was nice to hear someone else's thoughts on their journey with quitting smoking....And if you don't mind my saying so but I think you're really pretty & have a lovely smile....Anyways take care & keep not smoking!! :)

I read Allen car book two days ago and had my last ciggarrette at 4.45am yesterday. I have been struggling with the withdrawals. But i know that this will be the last time I ever have to.
because every time you have a cigarrette, you body then needs more nicotine again in a few hours, meaning you are withdrawling all the time.
i no longer want that feeling again.. so goodbye smoking.

Super great video Sarah. I'm currently on day 4 and I'm feeling the difference already. For people looking to quit, I found that it helped me to roll my own cigs. As it's a different feel (air flow, taste, size, and price). With that said, try your hardest not to stay with the rollies too long. Just enough to let the thought of a factory packed cigarette slip out of your mind. Then go head and give er a try and see how not smoking feels. And I'm not sure if this is true but id assume there aren't as many added chemicals in comparison to a cig from a pack. Good luck to everybody that's on the road to quit, we can do it. It's all in our heads.
