I find it absolutely incredible that you managed to get a hold of Staka and he was happy to answer some questions! He deserves much more support and I guarantee you many people would be willing to even support him monetarily through Patreon or other means so he can produce an even higher quality product!
I came here to say this! If he's having trouble with renting Internet storage then there's plenty of people willing to donate to keep the game alive
100%. I said it in the other video and I'mma say it here. Staka really needs to start a patreon and/or an indie Steam thing. _So_ many people want a game like this, and he could probably attract people to work with, make some money on the side, and maybe even get backed by a studio.

Except all the assets are skidded from Assetto Corsa mods and Intial D Arcade Stage games. From scratch, yeeaaah about that. As someone else said, if he even tried to make money off this he would get a cease and desist, and if he refused he would be sued to oblivion

Wow! I really hope Staka continues to work on this project, I truly appreciate small and/or singleton dev games tbh, they can be some of the most enjoyable times to be had!
My guy, thanks to you I've fallen in love with his work. Games like these are needed. Ones that only exist to satisfy the player with both the graphics and simple enjoyment of racing at high speed without worries.
the fact that one guy doing a game for research and for the heck of it has made something that can rival or is even better than modern racing games is insane. This is why I'm so happy tools like Unity are available to the general public
In a world full of micro transations and ultimate editions it's really refreshing to see someone, and a game that isn't all about money.
I've been following his work since he released his first ever video, he is really talented for being self taught and the games both in wangan midnight and ID are very cool and interesting. I hope that after he has some free time we can maybe get a full fledged game from him

iv'e been watching this guy work for years, i just cannot wait to for him to eventually work more on it
I kinda like having the steering on 0.1 for speeds above 130. Much smoother. I also managed to glitch to the other side by going backwards at the start. and beyond that big bridge theres a decent amount of freeway to the right and left after you get off the bridge.
How do you get the car to move? Not matter what I try AT or MT in the config file I can't move, I'm using a PS4 controller (when i press R2 I can see the the turbo gauge get up but my car does not move at all), thanks

Man. I felt lucky that I was one of the people who downloaded and KEPT it. Been following this guy for years
Thanks for introducing me to this game! Also there is a way to go to the out of bounds areas and the one bridge and a long highway past the bridge. What you do is immediately stop the car when starting the game and turn around. When the distance thing says 17.3KM slow way down and then take the left turn up the onramp that looks like an offramp, due to going the wrong direction, and slow down and make sure to turn/jump left off of it. Don't go too fast or you will bounce weird and or physics will send you off the map. You don't really even need to go that fast but you can just drop down into the other lanes of traffic and there are no barricades or other stuff that blocks your exploration tendencies. At times it may look like you can go onto some huge city streets when exiting some offramps/onramps but if the texture isn't the same as the road for the highway, you will just fall through the floor and into the void.
Then to get to the bridge just head back towards the start and stay in the left two lanes when you reach 15.3KM and after making that turnoff, keep going forward but take the one on the right and then just follow it and you will reach the bridge. Also when headed to the bridge, at 15.7KM there's a parking lot with some missing/blank white textures that's cool but just be mindful of stuff not having collisions
Fun fact: Wangan Midnight is a really famous arcade game in asia and also ITS IN ARCADES I LOVED IT SO MUCH

i'm absolutely thrilled to play this game! i saw this at school and was itching to get home and download it! I hope to see things like online mode and and a larger map but for now im totally happy that i get to even play this game, can't wait for the weekend to try it!

I would say that having to make unique assets would be starting from scratch. Most important aspect is the handling/physics.
He would need help from a 3d artist or two one being concerned with level design. And 2d artist for ui/textures. With so many excited people around the project he could get some volunteers for this.
On Keyboard with MT: A - Shift up, Z - Shift down, P - pause, space - handbrake. Autopilot setting are in the manual, but anyways, T - Autopilot On
M - Autopilot Off, ESC - Quit.
This is called Maximum Tune. Really popular arcade racer. Available to play if you have a jailbroken ps3 you can find the ISO for it
This is the first time I've seen this game ever and I have to say it's really giving me a mix of old-school Grand Turismo or NFSU2 vibes. Am I the only one who feels that?

This shows how the current system stifles passion and innovation. I’ve been following Staka for a long time, the initial d stages are even better!
Staka did not make the vehicle physics for this project. The physics are an old Unity asset store package that got depricated. It was called MoDyEn and is made by Ravel Tammeleht. You can see Ravel's recent additions to the physics package on his RUclips channel. Staka has only taken the MoDyEn vehicle physics and combined it with models and tracks from the Assetto Corsa modding community to make both his Initial D and Wangan Midnight fangames. I am not downplaying his work; the result is still clearly very impressive.

You can still reach other places on the map. After start, just look at the barrier. If you see steel rope, just drive thru it. You can access bridge easily. HF
Awesome to see an update on this game. It really has potential.... Also Eden you should check out a game called Test Drive: Eve of Destruction it's really underrated but its quite fun with lots of gamemodes like Gauntlet, Push-off, demolition derby, detention, survival, suicide races etc etc with awesome progression (starting with a weak junker car) in an open world-ish setting. Like you don't sit at a menu and press a button to go to the garage or dealership or a race, you have to actually drive there.
I never played wm, but I grew up with tokyo extreme racer. Those cars and that highway.....it will stick with me for the rest of my life.
I still play Tokyo extreme racer games wishing we had a ps4/ps5 update. He game gives me hope that if you decided to ever sell a game he could tweak a few details of the cars and logos to where they are creatively different from real live cars. His work is amazing

The map is from Wangan Midnight for PS3, the Assetto Corsa people just ripped it from THAT game. Shuto Revival Project did NOT create this map.
I wish the Gamecreator would make this Open Source, so that others can participate from his research and can work on the game

Damn, I was hoping for the bridge and straight section of the map, I just love doing top speed runs (and mostly drag races) to listen to the engines of the cars. Hopefully we could glitch to the other side of the barrier or an update comes sooner than later for the barrier to be removed. The other barrier mentioned that takes the road to a dead end and off the map can stay put though. Otherwise though, this game looks pretty impressive from being made by one person and yeah we may not get a full game out of this due to copyright and licensing rights reasons but if he wanted to (and had the time) to make an original game like this with his own assets and conept like vehicles, then yeah I think we'd buy into it.🤔
You can, I found a way to. Basically start up the game, immediately turn around, then go to 17.3KM and slow way down and turn to the left up the offramp and drive left off of it onto the opposite lanes of the road. Then just drive back towards the start and stay in the leftmost lanes and watch out for places where the road ends but that should get you over to the bridge and long highway

For 1 the physics are more polished but that might just be me, there is also more tracks (mostly touges) and also more cars.
I might try doing some research of my own so i might come back with new info it i happen to find any
Update 1:
I've concluded that there is at least 8 cars that being:
-Takumi's AE86 Trueno (stage 4 ver)
-Keisuke's RX-7 FD (stage 5/7 ver)
-Ryosuke's RX-7 FC (pre final stage ver)
-Maki and Sayuki's Sileighty
-Takahashi's R-32 Skyline GT-R
-Shingo's EG-6 CIVIC SiR-2 hatchback
-and a random FTO
And there are at least 3 courses that includes:
-Akina Touge (which has a day and night version)
-Akagi Touge (which has day version and a raining version, and also an uphill course)
-and lastly lake Akina (Which currently only has a day version)
Side note: i think I'm not that crazy to think that the night and day / clear and raining versions along with uphill/downhill are universal to all the tracks but i have yet to confirm this.
I am also unable to confirm that there is a downloadable copy of this game even though it looks like it was being worked on long before C1 runner, but again i have not confirmed this.
I can also tell you that most likely a big chuck of the assets used is taken from the Initial D arcade stage 8 arcade game (as in the UI, Car modules, sound effects and car sounds) but i do believe that the lighting the rain effect (mainly on akagi since we only have that as the basis for the rain effects)
Speaking of which, i found out that the Akagi touge is actually an asseto mod (or at least i think if anyone wants to correct me on that please comment it thank you)
The physics are all made from scratched and possibly be the basis for C1 Runner(or of course it could be vice versa)
As for the physics, i can see that the cars do slide a bit more then in C1 Runner and it looks very smooth which is a very good achievement on their part)
And from what i can see all of the cars have different handing modules (but it could also just be differing drivetrains)
Update 2:
From what i seen, it actually looks like the game has either controller or even wheel support, due to how smooth the steering is, and the fact that the cars has been seen breaking at 50% or even just 5%
But i have not confirmed this
The first update we got was in August 17th, 2017
And the latest update we got was in August 15th, 2021
So we can speculate that it has been worked on for 5 years, or even more

this looks sexy graphicly speaking, i still have my ps2 variation off game titled "tokyo extreme racer" and then on the xbox 360 "import tuner challenge" i love these games. so this will be a very welcome addition to them.

Ordinary salary man in japan could be he going to work on 7:00 AM and going home at 5~10:00 PM daily!
It's difficult to have free time to work with the game development.
