Same type of injury happened to me on a spin bike. Sciatic symptoms with hamstring tightness and spasms with peripheral neuropathy. Combo of TENS and stretching has helped immensely. Injury happened over 2 yrs ago. No one could diagnose the issue. Your differential diagnosis method is solid.

Based on most research I have seen for a Proximal Hamstring Tendon injury, do not stretch or it will take longer to heal (or might not be able to heal). Stretching is often the most recommended treatment for many injuries, so I was surprised to find that PHT should not be stretched.

Came here after I heard a pop on my sciatica and hamstring during a quick take off trying to catch a ball. Very thorough explanation and no bruising so hopefully just inflammation.

Thanks for the hepful video. Just one comment. Even without bruising, without an accident like slipping and even when the patient can still run (with pain) the underlying cause can be a full hamstring avulsion (tendons ripped of the bone). Only an MRI can tell. The operation should happen within 2 weeks for the best outcome. This injury is often overlooked. It seems to happen more often to people around 50 and to women.

This is really what I'm dealing with!! Dr's have told me it's piriformis syndrome, I've been told it's a herniated disc, I've been told my hip is out of alignment/tipping to one side, it's sad! It's been like 4 years now. I'm finally starting to see these videos of high hamstring tendinitis, but I didn't get the right help and now I get numbness down the leg, I don't have the flexibility anymore, if I try running faster with longer gait then the pain comes back!!

I've had something similar for the past 3 weeks. My incident happened at work, lifting something heavy and leaning to the left, my right hip/butt/hamstring area pulled and I felt immediate pain.
Sitting in general hurts, unless I slouch back, walking is painful, and I've been asked, jokingly by a friend if I was drunk, because my gait is awkward, and my balance is off. I also seem to have weakness in my right leg because Im continuously tripping and re-injuring my butt muscle, because I'm not lifting my foot high enough when trying to walk.
Your video helped alot, it's made me think I should go to a doctor for an xray.

More likely to be a pinched nerve in your back causing these symptoms. Hard to tell without seeing you. Good luck!

Nerve pain such as in Sciatica due to slipped disc problem can be in aid for diagnosis but what if the spinal injury is so tilted that it almost obstruct the nerve pathways in that gray effects in there towards the limbs and theres pain signallings as well as muscles effects of its levels of problems to peripheral muscles and nerves, can a particular nerve be turned off or be created a segway by the modes of wireless thing or distal nerve implant signal receptor or something while the schwanns cells tuned to regenerate by specifics while surgery was being contemplated by patients relatives for example to whatever reason an example of if factor of emergency measures after neuro assessment or a scan or something with nerve specifics to wherever connectivities damaged by focusing in genetics concentrated fix meaning the machine have a copy of genetic make up.

How it's possible that i have pain in exactly same moments like your son, but when this spot is pressed by finger there is no pain?
It's painful in mentioned spot only when straight leg is stretched.
What do you think about it?
Its painful when running and going uphill and no pain when walking on stairs

I get the same pain/strain in the same scenarios but rather than either attachment site the feeling of 'my hamstring feels like its going to tear' is directly in the middle of the muscle.
I believe ive adapted around this and my more servere injuries and tend to not deal with the pain fueing daily life but i do this by heavily avoiding my hamstrings and walking very inificiently. Theres a lot of other things but thats all thats directly relevant.
What type of injury would you imagine this this to be?
    Added info:
I avoid my right side and weight bare 70% or more of weight on left leg.
I definitely have an anterior pelvic tilt.
My ankle dorsiflexion is awful especially on my right (dodgy side), knee to wall test with right foot i can barely touch the wall with knee with toes touching the wall.
    Some degree of pelvic torsion.

Question sir. So I pulled it strained my hamstring back in June of 2022. We’re in march of 2023 and it still hasn’t fully healed. I’d that normal? I can run I can do weight training on it and even stretch but I still feel discomfort.

I have the same issue and tried exercises but I started doing Angamardhana offered by Isha institute (Sadhguru) and I cannot live without it now. And if I skip for a week or two and the pain is back. Previously I suffered everyday with hamstring pain and needed. Now Angamardhana is like a massage to me though it’s very intense hatha yoga..

I feel totally helpless and afraid I'll have this pain for the rest of my life ive tried all kinds of stretches for hamstrings, and exercises i found online for glutes, hamstrings and hips. Nothing has worked. Maybe the wrong exercises??

Happened to me sliding head first to 2nd base in high school. I thought the ball hit me because it felt like a pop or a bang. Thought I was safe until the short stop tagged me out. I said what the hell just happened. Tried to get up and it was a wrap. Never rehabbed it but got better. Yesterday playing basketball it happened again and now I’m here. I always thought it was a bone issue because I thought it was too much pain to be a pull.

I was playing fighting in loafers with no grip and my foot flipped and I hyper extended my hamstring I felt a pop …. Next day I couldn’t walk it been a week now I can walk pretty ok , but my glute is killing me and my hamstring still feels bruised … I’m guessing if I tore my muscle of the bone I wouldn’t be walking around already?
