This video was simply amazing! It's 4am where I am right now, and I have to be at a shoot at 8am. I had rented the Sound Device 633 and I was starting to freak out cause I didn't had the slightest idea how to use it. Thank you so much for this video!!! I feel so much more confident and at ease to properly perform as a Boom Op/Sound Mixer and do a good job. I can't wait to see more of your content!

Hey very intuitive and amazing video, lately I just started learning more about sound to improve my filmmaking and I even purchased a used sound device 633 I like the improvements already but from a layman standpoint what’s next after sound 633? as in yes I recorded everything set all the gains sound is good yes, but that’s next does it need treatment after before I attach it to my video or it’s fine the way it is professionally what would you advise me in this regard.

Depending on how the sound came out you will probably need to EQ and do some sound editing. But if you recorded correctly should be minimal

    I have several questions:
Do you not use the fader at all if you set something to prefade? If you set your ISO tracks to prefade, and your mix track to postfade - do you only control the mix track with your faders then, while the ISO tracks are controlled by the gain knob only?
Should you always set the ISO tracks to prefade, and the mix to postfade? Any other solutions? Say I have a boom mic on channel 1, and two lavs on channel 2 and 3 respectively. I also want to record a mix track of them all. What would I set to prefade and postfade in this scenario?
What are the X1, 2, 3 and 4 channels used for? And when would you want to use them?

@8:20 pretty sure there is a button style internal battery that'll keep timecode even without any batteries attached but the AAs are a good backup.

The X3/X4 output is a line level only output? The signal seems too strong for mic level receivers.

    • @ipg_rentals

      That’s correct line level output
