The gear i use to throw em is
1000 Size Shimano Stradic on a 270UL Zodias Rod with 6lb Slick 8 PowerPro braid and 6lb leader.

Btw, I took your advice regarding fishing the weed beds the other day and had so much more success, snapped off a swim crab mid cast near the end but other than that so much more enjoyable not having to pull weed off the lure every cast cheers

When I first started lure fishing for bream on the Gold Coast in the late 1990s, we'd catch double digit bream each in a session on lures just like that. They go nuts for them.
Amazing to give it a go and see nothings changed too much for em. It was still getting plenty of action in the dirty water

Looking at getting into a yak and fishing this system, that bully coming up puts me on edge a bit. Do you ever worry about getting tapped when you’re on your yak ? Epic video mate, was here today but only jagged a small flatty
