Hi. I just picked up and started playing ukulele during the second year of covid. I've never been able to play any instrument at all in my life and I'm 68. Anyway I've looked for this song before but found the chords too difficult for my arthitic fingers. You made the chords simple for me now and I've written this down and I'm going to try it. Thank you so much.
@@BrookePalmer I always wanted to do this song but I couldn't play the colts. One other one that I can't play the cards is rod Stewart in the faces ooh la la. Is there any way you could simplify this?
I like the way you strum with your right hand. I've been using my thumb and the skin soon gets sore. You seem to use all your fingernails for the downstroke and then I'm guessing your fingers for the upstroke. It's hard to see because of the speed. Do you have a lesson on how to strum?
Yes, you guessed right! I use 'whole hand' strumming instead of just one finger. I learned about that from Ukulele Underground but it was a long time ago, I'm not sure if they still have the same video. But you've got the right idea - just give it a try. I started strumming that way because the joint in my pointer finger started hurting. Whole hand strumming is much more stable but it does have a bigger sound, not as gentle as thumb strum or pointer finger strum. My strum videos are more about rhythm than basic technique - here is the playlist of them: ruclips.net/p/PLziQfcfPMYjx4ZtuHwRdNfZn1izGRcBa4
1:14-1:18??? I see the D D on the C, but I'm trying to figure out the pattern on the F leading up to that...is the third beat a half (8th really) with the other played on the C with a D D??? The rest of the song I've got down, this part is just throwing me off. Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks!
@@michaelnorris1563 Yes! You got it, good job! There are two rounds of the strum pattern plus DD on F, then DD on C, then Am goes back to the regular strum pattern.
I always recommend concert or tenor over soprano - sopranos can be more difficult to play because of their size. I'm not really a brand expert. Usually I recommend new players to visit a music store with a good reputation and try different ukuleles in your budget to see what you like - although these days with Covid lockdown, I'm not sure what is open in your area. You could check out the channel Bernadette Teaches Music, she has a lot of ukulele review and recommendation videos. Bondi has a good starter kit - my unboxing video for their starter kit is here : ruclips.net/video/ScWUCMtMvfc/видео.html There are shopping and discount links below the video!
Thanks for uploading! If you have a second, I tried my hand at a cover of Little Big Town. As a fellow music lover, I'd love if you would take a listen. It's on my page. Hope you enjoy!

So I might have figured it out...on the 4th beat of F, it's D D...quickly switch to C with a DD. Then up to Am for 4 beats...I think

I want to buy a ukelele and suggestions on what kind to get for a beginner and what sound like soprano or concert ?

Very cool strumming. What's the pattern?
It's noted at the very beginning in the lower right corner - it's just DDU UDU 🙂
🔥🔥🔥🔥

Nice! But, it would be great if you included the type of the strumming pattern :)
It’s on the screen at the very beginning in the lower right corner - d du udu
