In actuality, the only words exchanged between the two was when MA told her “There are a lot of people at Versailles today.”
But this scene brilliantly puts into words exactly how MA felt about Madame Du Barry. Love this movie.

We need to bring back the original art of polite shading people without using cussing words. Even the man looked at her like you did that girl.

I don’t get when people have to correct the accuracy of movies.. it’s for entertainment.. just watch a documentary instead ..

This film way outshone the real versailles, hair in the 1780's was less curly and more backcombed and heightned, the film was brilliant, but you could see it was galmorising just a tad over the top.

Poor Norma, without Irving Mr Mayer took over this mammoth production. On her first day filming she learned her new director would be Mayors choice. One take Woody Van Dyke was most famous for his Tarzan movies. Mayer wanted this thing in the can without Norma's movie star nonsense. Her performance is a masterpiece in every way. I wish it had been done in technicolor like Irving had planned.
