I really like the Open D5 version of this for similar reasons, really good for getting some late 90's/early 2000's pop rock vibes or writing some Mayday Parade/State Champs style chord patterns, especially if acoustically

Martin from Boys Like Girls uses this tuning and lower tuned versions of this tuning almost exclusively
The first couple of chords sounded like a Basement song.
I think they use drop d / db sometimes, so that's probably why, haha.

Lets Talk About Math Rock did a similar video with almost the exact same title and thumbnail a month before this came out. seems like someones copying someone else.
Pretty standard RUclips practice to borrow title / thumbnail ideas from one another. Fyi I'm fairly certain Let's Talk About Math Rock took said title / thumbnail from Andrew Huang's video that was released 5 months prior, as the title is the exact same, except for the last word. None of the videos are plagiarising each other, it's just the packaging that's similar. So what's your point?

@@maxonmendel5757 It's really not though. If you put your guitar in that tuning, you can instantly play more advanced sounding chords, dare I even use a descriptor and call them "beautiful".

which is the best tuning for pop punk?
Most of the older bands use standard or Eb. A lot of 2010's pop punk was more Drop D or Drop C, especially with all the Easycore bands. Then some of the newer bands that have a more Midwest emo influence tend to go with open tunings - like the one in this video.

Add 9’s in drop D are super common Everlong is based around that shape as well as like half of the Deftones discography
