I love this song... But what I love the most about it... Is something I read in an old interview with Lemmy he said something like "I don't really like to play cards... But it's hard to write a song about playing slot machines"

If you ever go to Los Angeles, visit the Rainbow Bar & Grill. The outside bar as a plaque where Lemmy used to sit almost every single day he could (he lived nearby) and play on the video poker machine. They gave him the machine when his health deteriorated to the point that he couldn't leave his apartment, but they've got a new one there and turned the whole bar into a tribute to him.

The song is about the Vietnam war.The special forces used the ace of spades card as a calling card to the enemy to let them know who had defeated them. They would place them on the bodies of the slain enemies to strike fear into them. It kinda gives a hole now meaning to the song.

Lemmy (the singer/bassist) was the ultimate "wino". He drank (and collected the bottles of) a ton of Jack and Coke, was constantly high (especially on speed) and was always laughing and always had a smile on his face. He and his bands (Motörhead and early Hawkwind) had almost 30 studio albums, and none of them are bad. Sadly he died a couple years ago. R.I.P. you great legend. Reaction channels get such a bad rep on this website because some people don't know how to do it. They sit there, watch the full video, maybe laugh a little bit, say whether they liked it or not at the end, and that's that, they get the views, get paid.
YOU TWO, on the other hand, do it RIGHT. Y'all take time to appreciate what's in front of you, you move to the music and express emotions, you pause it every so often to discuss music and/or lyrics and you discuss the symbolisms and what the artist was trying to express. And the chemistry you two have allows you bounce ideas off one another and enjoy the music together (you know, like friends lol). And also you guys listen to some kick ass music!
By the way, my favorite video of yours is the Working Man reaction. The fact that I love it, that you guys love it, the way you talk about it, George melting out of his chair during the solo. Awesome reaction video to an awesome song.
One of if not the BEST (music) reaction channel on the website! I can see you guys hitting 500k subs, and even 1 million subs in no time. There's something special here. Peace to both of you, Ryan and George!

Yeah, been saying the same thing in my comments. Watching these two reminds me of what it was like for ME when I first heard these songs and THAT, man, is more precious than fucking GOLD. It's not enough to just sit there and watch, you've got to have personality and an intellect, and these two have plenty of that. I feel like calling this a reaction channel is almost an insult. It's more like a music-appreciation and lyrical analysis channel. I know it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but I think it's more accurate.

The song is a metaphor. Life is a gamble. The dice are loaded. The House is going to beat you. The quicker you come to terms with the reality that you're going to lose (die) the more you enjoy the game (life) for as long as it lasts.
Motorhead is to real metal what NWA and Public Enemy are to rap. If one doesn't understand those artists, one doesn't understand the art form they defined.

Amen brother. Song is pretty much about Lemmy's life. He was always a gambler in life, from roadying for Hendrix to penning the hit single for Hawkwind and forming who all critics hated. I think he won at the end, cause Motorhead became an iconic band who now is revered. Amazing! But since Fast Eddie past in January, I don't think they'll be inducted (even posthumously) into the Hall.

So glad you did this song....Lemmy was an enigma....Started smoking at 11 years old. Drank a handle of jack daniels a day.....A doctor told him in the 70's that he would drop dead any moment from his lifestyle, but he lived til the age of 70 in 2016. He was obsessed with pinball machines and slots.....Lived in the same small two-bedroom apartment in Hollywood since 1990, despite having money. He would walk down to the Rainbow Bar and Grill almost every night to grab some food, and loved talking to his fans.....His music isn't for everyone, but they influenced the early metal scene (they took Metallica on tour with them when they were youngsters, and taught them the fast guitar riffs!)

This song is about "not transition",..just building and building raw power......this is blow torch fire ...not meant to have deep movement nor dynamic emotional highs and lows.... nor melodic shape ,...this is a straight facepunch,...it is hard smashing on the gas pedal and hearing the engine dig in and rev higher and higher, as you go faster and feel torque pushing and roaring underneath you....not to sway with transition and pull you or slow you down and take corners or rise and fall on hills,...just a straight shot...like a Drag race ,,...not to embrace the finish,...but to hear and feel the power of the mechanism as it rises in output and blasts .out it's sonic anger and embraces its full capabilities...like a machine built to the nuts being pushed to it's limits and being finally able to roar like it realizes it was built for this and it finally gets to eat what it kills

Lemmy, their singer who passed away quite recently, is basically known as the Godfather of Metal, together with ozzy, dio, rob halford. Him and ozzy were friends, he was good friends with metallica and Dave Grohl (nirvana/foo fighters) as well. James hetfield from metallica actually shaved his beard and had long hair to look like lemmy when they were just starting. Basically every rock and metal band looked up to and loved motorhead, and lemmy especially. That guy was one of a kind, he'll definitely be missed.

Well, if you're talking godfather of Metal, that would be Ozzy. No disrespect towards Motorhead at all. In fact, they were one of the bands (along with Priest and others) that made it harder for Black Sabbath to continue to succeed towards the late 70s because beginning to adopt a faster pace. So you could say Motorhead is the "godfather" of faster-paced metal but even then they would be competing with Judas Priest as well. Ozzy is the godfather of Metal though. You can't deny it.

God Rest the mighty Lemmy Kilmister!!! Without Motorhead, there would be no Metallica. Without Motorhead there would be no "Big Four" or Thrash Metal. Lemmy's voice was just like his personality...rough, full throttle and straight forward. When you asked for more dynamic, that kind of technicality came later in Metal. When "Ace of Spades" was released, punk was trying to take over and Lemmy and the crew were having no part of it. I'm glad you both enjoyed it because this song, this band and this man (excuse me, this GOD known as Lemmy) are REVERED amongst the metal masses. Lemmy was infact a gambler, but the reality of the song is that he gambled with his life. Fast paced, fast women, booze and hard living...Lemmy IS what Metal is all about.

It'll be awesome, and they are more used to metal now.
But due to their background they may like "Peace Sells" more. It has great groove and lyrics.

"He [Lemmy] sounds like an old war vet having a flashback". Nearly ended me. I used to laugh at the sheer trauma Lemmy exuded when singing "He's gonna steal your face" (Steal Your Face from the compilation No Remorse) so that remark tickled my funny bone.

Another fun, honest, free thinking reaction video. Yeah, the first time I heard this song in 1981 I HATED it. It was really a radical song back then - it was a full on Punk Metal song played at high speed, and Lemmy's vocals were a little too out there for me at first. A couple days later I flipped the album over and heard The Chase Is Better Than The Catch and warmed up to Lemmy's style, then came around on this song after a couple weeks. It's been one of my favorites ever since. It's a GREAT driving song...

I heard it the first time around 1984 age 12 when watching the british comedy "the young ones" (link to YT-video clip ruclips.net/video/co9yv2NjyWs/видео.html). It was at that time just a little bit too much and over the top for me as I was more into melodic rock so yeah I too hated it at first. It took me 3 years to turn around as I was getting new friends to hang with who was the free thinkers that introduced me to harder, faster, angrier metal and punk rock. Since then Motorhead has been on my mixed tapes, in my vinyl collection, in my CD collection and now on my hard drive on all my computers and phones. Ace of spades is an iconic classic but truth is I like the song The Chase Is Better Than The Catch more... it is Lemmys hymn to why he began playing music and started bands... getting girls. Bless him.
