Great choices, I had the same conflicted reaction to A Home Far Away 😅 If you like cute and wholesome BLs, though, you might want to check out A Hero in the Demon’s Castle that dropped this August. It’s about a Demon Lord shunned and marginalized by society who learns to like humans again after he meets a naive and trusting hero! And the art is just gorg, sooo unique!
ahh yess A Home Far Away was a very interesting read but also very hard to take in 😪 but ohh i haven't heard of that series at all! i'll have to bookmark it to check out. that premise does sound interesting. and i quickly looked it up and the cover looks really striking 👀
setting the bar so high for hell's paradise anime because it was mappa doing the animation but man some parts of the anime just didn't look as good as the manga :/
agreed 💯! the trailer really made me think it was going to blow me away. it turned out alright. not terrible! but not what i was expecting considering the studio and the source material. i've mentioned in other comments but i figured they were more focused on JJK than anything else tbh lol.
I sold my copies The King’s Beast too. The art is beautiful but that’s the only real praise I have about it. Glad you enjoyed the Hell’s Paradise manga! I had the same thoughts about the anime adaptation, it definitely deserved better🥲
@@marisha9 Sure! The art is really pretty but like she said in the video, the manga’s tone is very inconsistent. It deals with some heavy themes that never really get explored or addressed. The worst was a SA scene around the 6th volume. The characters feel one-dimensional to me and the whole story feels shallow and generic. It’s constantly switching between a dark political fantasy and romance plot. Neither stick the landing for me. A lot of people enjoy it though, and there were a few moments I liked. I think the Viz media app has all the chapters on there if you want to read it there instead of buying physically.
that was one of my comments about TKB too. my only star that i gave it was for the art 🥲 yess HP manga is better than the anime so far but i'm curious how the adaptation will be once they get into the more action-packed parts of the manga. it was a lot of world building so far to set the characters up so idk we'll see! i just assumed a lot of Mappa's efforts went to JJK instead of HP lol.
Oh my god, haruka toki ie, home far away 😭 it’s sort of like banana fish in condensed form. I was quite mad with “hear the sunspot” because of Taichi, like the slow burn doesn’t even make sense at this point, and how he acts. I loved few short bl in the past few months , such as cut over criteria , it was so good.
i'm actually in the middle of watching the banana fish anime so hearing that comparison makes my heart hurt 😭😭 and i totally agree 💯 regarding your comment about Taichi. they're in a relationship and he acts like he doesn't even want to be in it. the balance between the two seems off and honestly, i would be fed up if i were Kouhei lol. i get that some move at their own pace but geez. hopefully whatever comes next improves how the story moves along 🥲 ohh i haven't heard of cut-over criteria before. i'll have to add it to my list 🙃

Like always you read so much! I think I’m going to pass on Those Not So Sweet Boys. I did really enjoy love in focus yet was bored with wolf boy is mine. So think you sold me on pass lol Calling up religious a Home far away definitely hit me emotionally and I absolutely found it fantastic. Also had a similar effect was golden sparkle on me. Enjoyed both of those so so much!

I've only been watching the Hell's Paradise Anime. I enjoyed it but after hearing you didn't think it was a very good adaption maybe I should switch to the Manga? I never heard anyone say anything bad about the Anime so I assumed it was adapted well.
it's not terrible! i think it's average but considering it was a Mappa adaptation, i could see that their budget probably all went to JJK's latest season 😅 usually i'm ok with either manga or anime, but in Hell's Paradise's case, i would say the manga tops the anime. for now at least. i'll still be checking out future cours since there's more of the manga to adapt.
i'm in that phase of rehoming manga on my shelves for ones i know i won't ever reread or have a big attachment to 😌 it's partly bc i just don't have as much room anymore for new manga i get haha. but i def want to curate my shelves more.
I'm assuming you sell them online? I've been thinking about going through my own shelves and finding ones I don't want anymore. Unfortunately, I don't have friends who also read manga that I can pass them off to.

Ah lots of books off the TBR and lots added lol. Right now I’m reading lots of one shot books lol. I just finished My Dear Agent and it was so cute ☺️ So many new BLs coming out I can’t keep track off lol. But I’m looking forward to the final vol of 10 Dance ❤

hi hi! thanks so much for stopping by! 😊 hell's paradise is a great read! a lot of world building and an interesting plot with characters that i thought were great (even the protagonists). tokyo aliens is good although i think the writing is not at the same level as the art. the art for tokyo aliens is amazing. the story though is alright but entertaining and intriguing enough 🥰
