  • Back with some more rankings and today I will be listing my top 10 NHL defensemen. Like my previous ranking videos this is not solely based on just this season. I will be looking at potential, careers so far, and also what they have done over this season and the last 2-3. Comment other ranking videos you would like to see below and let me know if you want a part two to this one. Subscribe to Jimmy Hockey for more NHL News and Breakdowns and NHL 2024 Highlights.

    Having Quinn Hughes at #4 is a comically uninformed take 🤣 In his first year as captain he has the Canucks at the top of the league, not to mention he is leading the league in points among defensemen and has one of the best plus/minus stats in the league. Doesn't take much to see that he is at least #2 on this list.

    • @JP-vy7ez
      @JP-vy7ez 3 месяца назад +12

      He is one of my favorite players, but I honestly feel he is definitely ranked too low. Has zero weaknesses and is better offensively than 90% of forwards in the league. His leadership is criminally underrated. He is the second best Defenseman in the NHL, and would be an easy #1 if not for what could be the best Defenseman to ever play. Hughes would be number one by a margin if not for Makar. Not a Canucks fan, just calling it how it is!

    • @heefo

      @@andrewc6385 I see where you’re coming from, but this list is mostly made up of offensive players. I believe he’s as good defensively as anyone on the list except Herman, miro, Fox or Makar

      @Goats22 3 месяца назад +9

      @@andrewc6385 produce some stats that show that from this season. he's so weak defensively that he is the second best +/- player in the entire league, but yeah what a major liability. the only thing that is liable to happen when he is on the ice is the puck goes into the other team's net and he adds another point to his league-leading total.
      at this point it has just become an automatic reaction from morons who clearly watch no canucks hockey and then have nothing to back up their ignorant comments.

      @@jimmyhockey Honestly, it should be Makar and Hughes at #1 and #2. If you're looking at "potential and careers so far", how did you put Hughes at #4. A few seasons ago when his defensive capabilities were questionable, sure, I would of put him in maybe the top 5 or 10. But he has improved and grew, with a plus/minus of a staggering +33 this year. When he's on the ice, he's a huge factor, more than a #4 spot would. That's just my personal opinion of course. Makar is #1 to me still, as long as he's healthy.
