- My weekly NHL Tier List is here and today I will be looking at every single Top Defenseman in the NHL. In these tiers I will rank each player based on how well they have performed as the top guy for their team. This Tier List is filled with some amazing players who have all proved themselves in one way or another. You should do a goalie tier list, but Adam fox is underrated I think he’s the best category (Canucks Fan). The list is good though.

Fox is good with guys like heikanen and Mcavoy, I think Hughes and Makar have just shown us another level offensively while still being solid defensively

Not only is it because I'm A Big Chicago Blackhawks Fan, but, while I agree with you about the fact that Seth Jones isn't living up to his Contract, I think that was given the fact that, in Chicago's acquiring him, it was prior to The Rebuild. When he was acquired from Columbus, Stan Bowman had Chicago in A Building A Cup Contender Mode, thereafter, following The Kyle Beach Fallout, The New GM, Kyle Davidson, put them in Rebuild Mode. Moreover, while Jones is predominantly A Big Offensive Defenseman, in the last year, he's gotten better in his Defensive Skills & is on A Team that has been plagued with injuries, not to mention that they weren't good at the scoring if goal, other than with Connor Bedard & few others. Therefore, for the reasons I've cited, I think Seth Jones should be placed higher, albeit only 1 Tier above where you placed him. Let me know what you think

If Fox didn't get knee checked by Aho and Jarvis, I think he should have been in the best tier with Hughes and Makar. He was just over a point per game player this past season, playing 72 games and having 73 points, and if he played those ten more games I feel he would have been at least 85 points. And his game is still very good defensively and is just 3 years removed from being a Norris Trophy winner.
I am a huge Fox fan and think he is just ever so slightly below the other two guys in the best tier. Don't get that twisted he is still a top 3 d man in the NHL.
Check Hamilton’s plus/minus, it’s ridiculously bad.
In addition to your point about him being injury prone, he’s been traded multiple times for a reason.

Sure but plus minus isn’t the most reliable stat to be fair. Despite being traded a few times I think Hamilton is still the best defenseman on the Devils, and when he is not on the ice the team is a lot worse defensively. I still think he’s a good top line defenseman just has to stay healthy
rasmus dahlin is so sick, heavily underrated solely because he plays for buff
I think he should be a favorite for the Norris next season, Buffalo is going to take a step soon and it will be because of Dahlin
Dunn is probably elite but definitely good
I have him as a top 4 guy, I like him as a player but if he is your best option I don’t see a team winning a cup
Morrissey is awesome defensively
He’s good defensively, he is awesome offensively
Do defensive defenseman
Morrissey is waaaaaaay too low. He completely carries Winnipegs defense. Started as a defensive defenseman consistently outsmarting larger players to steal pucks, never out of position, and wickedly fast. The last two years he's become the offensive guy because Pionk can't figure out how to be the offensive defenseman while not being a liability. Now Morrissey just does everything. Winnipegs defense looks better than it actually is mainly due to him overperforming. He's between bouch and Hedman. Doesn't have Hedmans size or accolades, but better defensively than Bouchard while producing similar offensively on a much worse team. He's a defensive defenseman at his core though.
Also, Dahlins is a bit low, too. I'd put him around the same place.

I understand but in comparison to other top guys he just isn’t in the same class, still a great player
In fantasy banger leagues, Matheson is solid until Hutson takes his place on PP1

At this point yes but I think Dunn will still be their top line D man
Fowler's nowhere near Anaheim's best defenseman
But he is still listed as that on this list, you could argue that they consider him the number 1 guy with Zellweger, and Mintyukov both being so young
That mystery Vegas defenseman was in fact Shea Theodore who I would consider to be one of the best dmen in the league can't stay healthy though as most Golden Knights do
And that was not Rasmus Andersson it was Weegar
That’s who I was missing, either way I still then Pietrangelo and Hannifan are better number 1 options than theodore

So Seider doesn’t have to make the playoffs to get to the elite tier? Maybe cause I’ve only especially watched his games against Ottawa but he played pretty poorly in them.
He has been the only constant for that Red Wings defensive unit since he's arrived in Detroit, maybe I'm over eager with the elite tier but I will stand by my pick

Not sure, I think Forsling is easily their best but they listed Ekblad as the top so that’s what I went with here
How the hell can a 60+ points defenseman be considered bottom 4 ?!
Because points isn’t the only factor when judging a defenseman… they have to be good at defense too

Doesn't clear Makar sadly, debatable if he clears Josi, I'd still take Heiskanen over Hughes personally
