- "Even though I was by myself going to church, looking back on it, I don't even remember being alone. I didn't feel alone during this entire process of turning back to Him; I wasn't feeling alone anymore and I wasn't scared to go by myself. I got my recommend back and I went to the temple by myself and I never felt alone. I ended up being the happiest I had ever been. I was so excited to have that light come back within me. I just wanted to scream from the rooftops: 'I feel changed, I feel whole!'"

Wow. I just have this say that this is my favorite story of somebody coming back to the savior and to the church of all time. I’ve never related to somebody so much in their journey away and their journey back. At times (and there were many) it was as though she were reading out of the book of my life lol. Amazing testimony and amazing story. Very well said. Many things were said that I have known and felt but never knew how to express till now. Thank you for sharing.

Brooke you are absolutely amazing. I’m serving as a Bishop right now and your Bishop is such a great example of someone who understands his role as a representative of the Savior. It’s so humbling to help people through the process of healing and repentance. We are untrained flawed individuals that try our best and sometimes we fail. Your YW leader story is great conversation for ward council. I hope we can show grace to leaders that say dumb stuff. Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing your story.

Just this Sunday gone, I was leading our Sunday school class discussion.
“It’s hard for thee to kick against the pricks”
Saul like us has been kicking against the Lord for a long time. Saul didn’t know God was pursuing him, because he will be the chosen vessel to bear God’s name before the Gentiles.
His story is ours too.❤❤❤❤❤
This was my experience in the church regarding repentance both before and after my mission. Cynical church members and the culture that they create would have had me believe I was in no need to repent or that I was unworthy of it or a mission also. The key, was and is wanting to repent on my own, and truly feeling remorse for my own actions. I wanted to please God, I wanted to feel light again. I wanted to be forgiven for stepping off the path. My bishops were the most kind and loving men, they helped me get to a place where I could forgive myself, and move on KNOWING that my Heavenly Father forgives me and wants me to move on. Happiness comes through a contrite heart and a broken spirit seeking light. I love this podcast, another great one.

Really needed this tonight. I’ve really been upset by people attacking the church because of these two women who abused the children (the woman Ruby’s children). I’ve been arguing with several RUclips creators who know nothing about the church. And of course ex members who run anti church channels are being invited on to those channels to bash the church. Finally tonight i challenged the one woman to start watching church channels and positive church members who have channels. This is one I recommended. I stopped watching her video right in the middle and came over here because I needed something positive and needed to stop the ugly contentious feelings I was having. I haven’t watched this channel for awhile but I knew it would uplift me and it did. We are all so mortal and make mistake but the Lord is always there for us. I felt just awful when you talked about not being given a flyer. I hope that leader has learned from that incident. We all need to learn from our mistakes and do our best to be kind to each other. I guess I’m telling myself this. Anyway thank you for such a wonderful story and for such an awesome channel.

Ok, agree we just have a little more charity and grace for our local leaders. No one is being paid to do this. They are sacrificing a large part of their disposable time. And to then have the added pressure of: "you have to be perfect and say the perfect things all the time and never mess up or the youth will leave the church" is an insane amount of pressure to put on these people. If we can give a bit of allowance for them to make mistakes, then it actually frees us up as well to forgive ourselves and relieve the pressure off of ourselves when we inevitably mess up as well.

Missionairies like her make the BEST missionaries because she understands pain and tribulations and can relate to other people out there who also feel pain. Inside and outside of the church there is a ton of pain.
On a side note, I went inactive in my teenage years because of my own loneliness and struggles in the young womens. I came back. And I was a young womens leader too 😉 was the best calling ever! Now I’m a Temple and Family History Consultant.

This means so much to me, thank you! I’ll forever be a missionary sharing my message of being more like him.
I have a hard time with saying that only a person who’s lost it all can relate to others who also have or who are nearly at that point. My wife is what many in the church hurtfully and mockingly call “cookie cutter” or “molly mormon”. She has days where those labels frustrate her because she feels almost bad for having not wavered and instead used her struggles to draw nearer to god while staying firmly planted on a foundation of faith and obedience, repentance and forgiveness. I love this podcast but for those men and women (I myself had a few years of inactivity and hopelessness so I’m opposite my beautiful wife in this area) who haven’t fallen off the deep end, get made fun of a lot or told to sit down BECAUSE they never had a major falling away. I wish it wasn’t like this, it is a type of hurt being given to those who were obedient and or didn’t need to hit bottom to see what they lost.
Sorry. I know you didn’t mean it most likely. I just see my wife (and others like her who do not judge others at all regardless their church standing) who struggle now for being steadfast, and the judgement she faces gets unbearable sometimes.
@@dcarts5616 I’m sorry if my comment came across that way. If so, that was not my intent. I have several friends in the church like your wife who I admire and love dearly and even look up too.
My comment was more for those who judge those who have fallen off the deep end. An example is this, that I went to a Ward once a long time ago that people gossiped. I died my hair black and wore a black dress and people gossiped for my appearance. It hurt me. And that was wrong. One time cops showed up on my porch and my neighbors (I lived in a small neighborhood with most everyone members of the church) gathered on the corner to see what was happening and one parent sent their kid over to ask why the cops were there. I was also the “not popular enough one” at girls camp and got teased. But I see what you are saying, there is judgement from both sides probably and if your wife is being judged for being obedient then that is also not right. Again, not my intent. And this is why we can’t judge people at all. We just need to love each other and help each other.
