Phar2Rekliss the 1.8 cylinders are individually cast which makes them stronger, not only that but they are thicker than the 2.0 and the 2.0 was designed for low end torque. Generally lower displacement engines are better for revving higher.
Looks like your missing the vtec "O" ring and dowel pin right under the middle cam cap.. If so then that might cause issues with your vtec engaging when it's suppose too.. Just a heads up! 6:36 mark.. 🙂
Note for old guys like myself : can you please hold the camera in 1 spot 😳 I was getting dizzy in the first portion while explaining retainers but aside from that it seems you know what you’re doing t.i.a.
Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it! and yes the process is pretty much identical for a b20 vtec. except you would need a 84mm head-gasket instead of 81mm.
Should have sprayed copper on that head gasket. But everything else looks good. I would have used Lucas assembly lube but oil works fine too. Please make sure you get it tuned properly on a Dyno before running it.
I believe you missed the o ring and little pin on middle cap you will starv the journal of oil not good I could be wrong but I didn't see it in there it's the 3rd cam cap from either side
Yes I did not put in the dowel or the o-ring yet, I need to go get one at the dealership, I just wanted to piece together the head so I can do the timing and everything but I will include the o-ring and dowel in the next video thanks!
Liked your video have a ? This is my first lsvtec build i have gsr/itr waterpump and oilpump and belt the crankshaft bottom gear can it stay LS or does it matter thanks for your help
Thanks for the support! A lsvtec with aftermarket valvesprings and retainers should rev up fine to 8500 rpm and maybe higher depending on if the block has a crank girdle or arp rod bolts. Also depending on how long you expect the motor to last lol. The vtec heads were ment to rev high, the b18 non vtec blocks werent ment to rev as high but they have a similar bore and stroke to a gsr. In my opinion i think they do fine and beats the price of a gsr.
H&H Racing Development Thanks for the info! Also, could I expect a basically DD b18lsv build to last me? Id most likely only be revving to 7000-7500rpm
H&H Racing Development I got a d15z1 in my hatch VTEC-E. would I be able to use that harness with the ls v? And what is a mid compression ratio I plan on boosting and want mid comp.
Albert Medina yup the harness will work fine, for any swap you would want to use the harness for the chasis, but depending on what dizzy and alternator u have u might need to convert from obd1 to obd2 we have done that countless times. I would say a good compression for boost is around 10:1. A stock ls bottom end (ls rods/pistons) and gsr head is 9.8:1. And with a b16 head is 9.6:1. Gsr pistons would bring up compression by 0.4:1
You missed the Oring and dowel pin for the VTEC port
Also theres a dowel pin and oring that goes in the hole right under the center cam cap. Without those you wont have vtec
Love the sandals and no shirt. This my kinda build. Good job young man.
This guy got a heart keep up good videos bro
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
Manuel Calderon thats why i sub
Bro I like your style keep up the good work the song in the background is fire it's motivating me to work on My h22 again
Just a true home build . love it man true spirit here. All for the love of the game. Thanks for video
I wonder why Honda went with the 1.8L design instead of making it 2.0 and developed better B20 block for the Type R program on the Integra

Hey man ive been watching for a while keep up the good vids, does this same vid apply for a b20 ? Or just ls?
Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it! and yes the process is pretty much identical for a b20 vtec. except you would need a 84mm head-gasket instead of 81mm.
Nice video

Street tuning works great too.. but the winter weather will make it more difficult.
what cam did u use in this vid?

Why did you take the rocker arms off for springs and retainers?
What headstuds did you use for a LsVtec? Did you use for the vtec heatstuds or Ls headstuds
i ordered b18c1 gsr headstuds and they work perfect. I heard b16 headstuds are too short but not sure.
H&H Racing Development you’re the man really appreciate it bro👍
yup no prob. good luck!
Can make a video explaining cam and crankshaft please, thank you
Liked your video have a ? This is my first lsvtec build i have gsr/itr waterpump and oilpump and belt the crankshaft bottom gear can it stay LS or does it matter thanks for your help
just leave the LS crank gear
How much hp did u make with tht head with supertech head packer ect ??
Would you need to upgrade to ti retainers for these valve springs?
Head studs + oil from hands = bad time D:
Subscribed just because youre from Washington. Is it true lsvtec builds shouldnt rev high? I've come across that statement on multiple forums haha

Yes! as long as everything is done right, it should last.
I’m pretty sure I have your car now, I live in ohio
Awesome LoL send me another video
Bro you from the pnw? I'm doing a ls v swap on my eg hatch I need help!!
Albert Medina yes we are in Vancouver, WA we just did the swap recently, what do you need help with?
