Resellers are the worst thing to happen to the shoe game. The Bred 4 release really pissed me off. I saw so many true sneaker heads take Ls to Resellers. And this new generation will call the Gratitude 11s bricks because the resell value is low 🤦🏽🤦🏽.

Hypebeast. But ppl keep blaming the reseller cause they fit one of the builds.

I started collecting over 20 years ago. Back then a lot of sneakers were reLAtively easy to get, and most people bought what they liked. So, because I started in that era, I never really deviated from that type of sneakerhead. But, I enjoy the hyped stuff too.

Same here, but I started in high school in 1996, with the AJ 11 Concord. I'm an old head so never been about chasing the hype or paying reseller pricing. I buy what I like or what I missed out on in high school if it gets retroed. If I can't get it at MSRP then I move on. 🤷
Bro you nailed it. I used to like going to sneakercons in my earlier days here and there. But as soon as I hit my 30s and now early 40s im all about style, comfort, and a diversity in the options of brands I wear. Sneakercons and conventions are a younger generations game to me. And there is nothing wrong with that. Im just at a point where Im about talking sneakers in a calm environment and buying kicks that I like just because. Not to flip or resell.
It’s a YT comment section but that shit at Philly SneakerCon was beyond gross. All the people I saw involved made it really add up. It’s not even about shoes anymore it’s about trampling on other ppl for money.
It's definitely more about comfort, style and accessibility at this point in my life. Earlier it was all about following the next release and getting bummed if I missed something, but I haven't followed anything for a while and if I see something interesting in store, I'll purchase it. It's whatever I'm vibing with in that moment pretty much.
Have watched so many of your videos, and I have to say this is my favorite in terms of the discussion, the respect shown to all sides, and the general conclusion. Been buying sneakers and collecting shoes and clothes since HS 20 years ago. When I started collecting NB, you almost had to expect the teasing and blank stares 😂 now they’re amazingly popular by comparison but the general feeling around everything in the sneaker space is about prices and making money. I haven’t walked into a local reseller shop since the pandemic and I don’t plan to ever again unless the variety and actual “buy, sell and trade” comes back into fashion 🤷🏼♂️ great topic bro

Too many people started collecting based off hype and resell value and not off what they enjoy. My small little collection is so sporadic and random from boots to ASICS, Reebok, and Air Max 1’s and 90’s and whatever I enjoy honestly. Hopefully we see this trend go away from the state it’s in but I’m not hopeful, every hobby seems to have been taken over by resellers.
I feel ya Eddy! I think I’m a bit more like you, I love sneakers & collecting them, but I buy what I like and I wear everything I own. I love the OG’s, but I also appreciate some of the newer stuff as well. My life as a sneakerhead is always so different from everyone else though because I wear size 16.

Excellent piece!!! I attended my LAST sneaker show with my wife last year (5th show in 2yrs) , got my grails and now me and my wife no longer attend shows. I'm now looking for NB, Puma's, Adidas and some old classic Reeboks if I can find them.
All my sneakers are GR and mostly on sale I buy what I like and not what other people say I should have for instance I got a pair of puma 180 the other that they have a perfect retro skate vide and only cost 40

From somebody who’s in their 30’s with 3 kids and a wife; we’ve all been into sneakers for a long time. All of the hype over the years has made me indifferent to it. Plus I’m totally past having over 100 sneakers crowding my space. So I only buy what I’ll actually wear and being smarter with my money. Waiting for shoes to go on sale. Actually going into stores on release day to buy what I want and not relying on apps. Going to Nike clearance/ outlets. I’m a vet and I live near Memphis so sometimes I can get into the Nike Employee store. And if I miss on a release regardless of hype I’ll wait or just move on. So I don’t believe the “sneaker game” is dead. It’s just people are growing up and with everything going digital it’s easier to buy from your phone than doing a in person raffle or actually driving to a store. Resale is resale… there’s no way around it. But with people having a bigger pool to buy from with Puma, NB, and other brands I love the state we’re in right now. I just wish Nike would make more Kobe’s then I’ll be actually excited.
Sneaker culture isn’t dead. Fake Sneakerheads/resellers are falling off and either complaining of not making money or moving on. I avoid sneaker cons, completely. They are not for sneaker-heads, it’s for resellers to jerk circle each other. Crease protectors, sole protectors, and all of these goofy products is for resellers. Sneakers heads wear their kicks, and just clean them regularly. Sure we might double up at times, but that’s for the pairs that we love and enjoy wearing a lot. Unlike the resellers that use bots to get a dozens pairs only to resell.

i’ve been into sneakers for almost 30 years and this is the best time to be a buyer. You get new kicks like the AE 1 and Puma Lamelos while enjoying Retro Jordans and retro Nikes… and if you’re patient, everything goes on sale

I just like sneakers that I can feel comfortable and look good that’s it. Now if I want to sell some shoes I will buy resale which I done before.
Being into sneakers & fashion is cyclical with the mass. Im into Js & airmax's & new balance & vans & puma & etnies ect. Becoming a reseller to me is more of a come up type thing trying to make a quick buck not being a lover of sneakers & culture ect. I never understood the "game" as it called. I just know that around 2020 it became very hard to get certain shoes & finally its leveling out cuz let's be honest society follows trends & trends don't last long. That said eddie love the channel been rocking with u for years now. U have perfected the craft of securing the pair as well as turning your love for it all into this channel. It comes across genuine. Props. The bred 4 is such a phenomenal shoe I could wear it everyday! ✌️
I think a happy medium is best. An example: I hit 7 pairs of the bred reimagined 4s. I kept 2 and sold the rest. Some people will say I’m a “greedy reseller” but you know what I’m doing with the 2 pairs I kept? Beating one to the ground and saving the other for when it happens. So I like to think I fall into both camps, with a slight bias toward collecting. For me the ability to sell pairs for a profit, even if small, is what makes the hobby sustainable.

Well said. I used to go to Sneakercon or any smaller sneaker events, now the only way I am going to go to a release of a sneaker is by invite, I’m just interested in collecting. But consignment shops are very ehhhhh. Hit or miss is a good way to describe it, if the staff is friendly I’m more interested in buying something. But I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to a consignment shop, being the only customer in the store, and the lone employee acting like they were too good to talk to anyone. Those types of stores make no sense to me lol
Never been to a sneaker event and never camped out for a shoe. Nothing wrong with any of that but it was never my thing, I either cop it for retail and if I can’t I’ll admire them on someone else’s feet. I cop sneakers to rock sneakers. I drive to Boston once a year to catch a Celtics home game and I love going to the sneaker shops they have out there. Bodega (even tho their selection is nothing special it’s for the experience), Concepts all the way to the new balance flagship store and than their regular new balance store right down the block. It’s all a journey and you just gotta make it your own. ✌️
Was never a fan of SneakerCon or similar events. Resellers are those worst thing to ever exist, they destroyed the joy of a casual sneaker person going to a store and picking up a new release
Never been to a sneaker event, partially bc I got into sneakers a little later than most (college) and partially bc the vast majority of my friends aren’t into sneakers. I don’t see much appeal there anyways bc I rarely pay resell unless it’s a shoe I love and the price is still close to retail. Majority of my StockX/GOAT purchases have been below retail. I have an appreciation for the hype stuff but my personal pickups are a lot more skewed to my specific interests (as they should be) rather than trying to impress a particular crowd
I love exactly what you’re saying because it seems like all these Sneaker con events only cater to people that want to resell or start a business or RUclips channel which there’s nothing wrong with that but at the same time they don’t carry size 13 I mean size 13 is heavily on when it comes to those type of events, I’ve seen many videos and the RUclipsr is looking for size 13 specifically and not to be found at all what you’re saying about general leases general releases I’m a big fan myself. Came into kicks in 2006, SB dunks were my first love back then (and always will be). At 35 years old, I have 1 SB dunk and all NB and Saucony. My tastes have “matured”/changed. I also don’t wear Eric Emmanuel or the thing with flowers on the pants lol

I only buy shoes that I plan on wearing, the funny things Is have bought a bunch of shoes that don’t get a ton attention when they were released, that go up by massive amounts of money (according to sneaker markets) because they are good colour-way’s on classic silhouettes not the same hyped 10 jordan models and C-ways re-releasing in a slightly different material ever 3 years.

I'm right there with u. I'm older don't like the drama of a sneaker con and prefer old sneakers not just the hot 10 sneakers that everyone always shows n sells n talks about . I'm a big new balance guy. So many great models. Quality blows Jordan brand and Nike out the water but there not as hype.smh tons of great general release that are going for under retail.. it's a buyers Eason rn and I'm taking advantage of it. 100% spot on. I got into sneakers at a older age since when I was in high school and college/university I couldn't afford them since I was too concern paying for books, etc. I finally went to my first sneaker con with my wife about two years ago and I instantly regretted it. So many overpriced shoes by hype-beasts where I could just buy it online a lot cheaper. I ended up just buying a wallet there, out of all things. 😂
In addition there are two type of sneaker You Tubers. There is the Eddie Win Type who is the true sneaker lover and loves that people share and love their sneakers and fashion. Then there are the influencers who dominate the channel. They show you the new releases weekly and the hype sneakers, attend the sneaker shows, tell you what the resell market will do, resale shoes, and tell you what is bricks. Funny thing most have 100 pair or less in their collection because most are just for the video views. Not saying these guys do not bring entertainment value. But when I want to see real sneaker content from a sneakerhead I respect it will be Eddie or Chris at Weartesters.
Lately I've been the type to wait for things that are GR to go on Sale before I pick it up. But I do like going to the big sneaker events to find older models that you can't find in sneaker shops
I for sure respect the hunt for older pairs but started noticing they were few and far between. A particular pair I started looking for at events about 4-5 years ago was pine green Jordan 14s… never found a pair or any Jordan’s with the face box for that matter. Unfortunately!
Tech function mentality makes sneaker hunting more fun. Your lifestyle and the shoes you need. Work and causal or both. It all depends on what the sneaker is built for.
I just like what I like when it comes to shoes. Retros Js, Air Max 1s, Vapormax, New balances are my go to shoes. It’s all about comfort now. I wear my Js out of necessity since I spent so much money and time collecting. Sneaker game is not dead regardless what people think. I love seeing shoes being available. What I don’t understand is the double up talk. I never bought a shoe that I needed 2 pairs of. Just keep your shoes clean and in good shape.

I like the classic stuff like playoff 8, black cement 3, Bordeaux 7, they are even doper When you put them in ice for 5 years and break them out I love it and gives me a way better feeling that ANY hype experience ultra hard pair to get for the fact that that the old school releases are just as hard and expensive

There are more people and our thoughts are closer than ever so there no way we will see things the same. Understanding that how you were introduced to the Shoe Game matters. For the Jordan's & Hip-Hop go hand 7 hand. So I love a shoe that have a history/story and maybe even I missed out of that shoe due to lack of cash as a kid. But hey the biggest thing is your shoes should speak for your style and love........I.E. your Sole in the game

I love sneakers and I'm not into hypes, I just buy what I want (in retail or Sale only, not into resellers) and I wear them and make them part of my weekly rotation (Work, Play, Church) Simple as that.
The fact that Jordans now have many general release pairs that are actually good makes me happy. Sneakers should be accessible to everyone to enjoy, resell value should not matter if you are a true sneakerhead. And the fact that we can even wait for most of these to go on sale for a true retail steal makes it even better. So yeah, screw resellers. They ruin everything they touch. Sure, I enjoy the occasional hype stuff but only if I really like it, and if I can get it for retail. But most of the time I stick with simple colorways, and the classic pairs, pairs that are easy to rock with anything.
It’s just most of the people getting into it equate how much a shoe cost to how cool it is. Perfect example is new guy at work is a sneakerhead, sees me wearing something, and first thing he asks is “oh much those cost?”… and I agree with not going to those sneakercons, just feel like high school
I follow the RUclipss and sneaker events etc all stuff that deal with sneakers just to hear the opinions but I’m just a dude who likes kicks and rocking em with nice fits and it’s been that way since before the resell and hype culture. I’m 35 and for the longest time I didn’t even know there was this whole other world for sneakers until about 7 years ago

Nike is way overproducing and a lot of cool shoes are "bricks". But, theres still some hype releases to look forward to at the same time! I reaaaaally want to get those industrial blues on my feet
I'm at a point with sneakers that I know what I like and keep others opinions as that, opinions. Idc what's hot, I like things that I know I'm going to enjoy wearing or styling. Sneakercon definitely appealed to me during my earlier years if collecting but the prices always deterred me and even moreso now. It's retail (or less) or nothin at this point for 95% of stuff releasing

I’m a sneaker head that buys shoes I couldn’t get when I was growing up. Always been into Nike basketball (Lebrons, KD’s & Kobe’s), Jordan’s & foamposites. However since it’s basically impossible to win alot of the pairs I love for retail, I’ve ventured over to brands like new balance. Yes. Sneaker events have gotten mad corny. Every table has the same Nike dunks, Jordan 1s & 4s. Events used to be where people went to search for grails. Who knows. Maybe it’s just part of growing up. I still love sneakers but the state of the sneaker game just isn’t as fun as it used to be.
Oh yeah, most definitely I’d rather go to my local Sneaker boutique consignment shop type place that ever go to a sneaker con. I know what they have. I have the rapport with them. It’s not only me going to them to buy something but you you establish like a really cool friendship with the guys that own the store, it’s a local area here Monterey Bay, California Seaside, California to be exact and it’s really cool to be able to go to your neighborhood sneaker store. You don’t have to deal with a crazy mall or big event like that or can’t find anything and they’re not willing to give you any kind of cool deal or nothing like that, definitely a big fan of the consignment shops and your local Sneaker boutique

Sneaker culture isn’t dead. Fake Sneakerheads/resellers are falling off and either complaining of not making money or moving on.
I avoid sneaker cons, completely. They are not for sneaker-heads, it’s for resellers to jerk circle each other.
Crease protectors, sole protectors, and all of these goofy products is for resellers.
Sneakers heads wear their kicks, and just clean them regularly.
Sure we might double up at times, but that’s for the pairs that we love and enjoy wearing a lot. Unlike the resellers that use bots to get a dozens pairs only to resell.

i’ve been into sneakers for almost 30 years and this is the best time to be a buyer. You get new kicks like the AE 1 and Puma Lamelos while enjoying Retro Jordans and retro Nikes… and if you’re patient, everything goes on sale
I agree on everything you said! Right now I just enjoy wearing my sneaker as everyone should, if you like selling and like the hyped of sneaker then great. I just like sneakers that I can feel comfortable and look good that’s it. Now if I want to sell some shoes I will buy resale which I done before.

Being into sneakers & fashion is cyclical with the mass. Im into Js & airmax's & new balance & vans & puma & etnies ect. Becoming a reseller to me is more of a come up type thing trying to make a quick buck not being a lover of sneakers & culture ect. I never understood the "game" as it called. I just know that around 2020 it became very hard to get certain shoes & finally its leveling out cuz let's be honest society follows trends & trends don't last long. That said eddie love the channel been rocking with u for years now. U have perfected the craft of securing the pair as well as turning your love for it all into this channel. It comes across genuine. Props. The bred 4 is such a phenomenal shoe I could wear it everyday! ✌️
I think a happy medium is best. An example: I hit 7 pairs of the bred reimagined 4s. I kept 2 and sold the rest. Some people will say I’m a “greedy reseller” but you know what I’m doing with the 2 pairs I kept? Beating one to the ground and saving the other for when it happens. So I like to think I fall into both camps, with a slight bias toward collecting. For me the ability to sell pairs for a profit, even if small, is what makes the hobby sustainable.

Well said. I used to go to Sneakercon or any smaller sneaker events, now the only way I am going to go to a release of a sneaker is by invite, I’m just interested in collecting. But consignment shops are very ehhhhh. Hit or miss is a good way to describe it, if the staff is friendly I’m more interested in buying something. But I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been to a consignment shop, being the only customer in the store, and the lone employee acting like they were too good to talk to anyone. Those types of stores make no sense to me lol

Never been to a sneaker event and never camped out for a shoe. Nothing wrong with any of that but it was never my thing, I either cop it for retail and if I can’t I’ll admire them on someone else’s feet. I cop sneakers to rock sneakers.
I drive to Boston once a year to catch a Celtics home game and I love going to the sneaker shops they have out there. Bodega (even tho their selection is nothing special it’s for the experience), Concepts all the way to the new balance flagship store and than their regular new balance store right down the block.
It’s all a journey and you just gotta make it your own. ✌️

Was never a fan of SneakerCon or similar events. Resellers are those worst thing to ever exist, they destroyed the joy of a casual sneaker person going to a store and picking up a new release

Never been to a sneaker event, partially bc I got into sneakers a little later than most (college) and partially bc the vast majority of my friends aren’t into sneakers. I don’t see much appeal there anyways bc I rarely pay resell unless it’s a shoe I love and the price is still close to retail. Majority of my StockX/GOAT purchases have been below retail. I have an appreciation for the hype stuff but my personal pickups are a lot more skewed to my specific interests (as they should be) rather than trying to impress a particular crowd
I love exactly what you’re saying because it seems like all these Sneaker con events only cater to people that want to resell or start a business or RUclips channel which there’s nothing wrong with that but at the same time they don’t carry size 13 I mean size 13 is heavily on when it comes to those type of events, I’ve seen many videos and the RUclipsr is looking for size 13 specifically and not to be found at all what you’re saying about general leases general releases I’m a big fan myself. I only buy shoes that I plan on wearing, the funny things Is have bought a bunch of shoes that don’t get a ton attention when they were released, that go up by massive amounts of money (according to sneaker markets) because they are good colour-way’s on classic silhouettes not the same hyped 10 jordan models and C-ways re-releasing in a slightly different material ever 3 years.

100% spot on. I got into sneakers at a older age since when I was in high school and college/university I couldn't afford them since I was too concern paying for books, etc. I finally went to my first sneaker con with my wife about two years ago and I instantly regretted it. So many overpriced shoes by hype-beasts where I could just buy it online a lot cheaper. I ended up just buying a wallet there, out of all things. 😂
In addition there are two type of sneaker You Tubers. There is the Eddie Win Type who is the true sneaker lover and loves that people share and love their sneakers and fashion. Then there are the influencers who dominate the channel. They show you the new releases weekly and the hype sneakers, attend the sneaker shows, tell you what the resell market will do, resale shoes, and tell you what is bricks. Funny thing most have 100 pair or less in their collection because most are just for the video views. Not saying these guys do not bring entertainment value. But when I want to see real sneaker content from a sneakerhead I respect it will be Eddie or Chris at Weartesters.
Lately I've been the type to wait for things that are GR to go on Sale before I pick it up. But I do like going to the big sneaker events to find older models that you can't find in sneaker shops
I for sure respect the hunt for older pairs but started noticing they were few and far between. A particular pair I started looking for at events about 4-5 years ago was pine green Jordan 14s… never found a pair or any Jordan’s with the face box for that matter. Unfortunately!
Tech function mentality makes sneaker hunting more fun. Your lifestyle and the shoes you need. Work and causal or both. It all depends on what the sneaker is built for.
I just like what I like when it comes to shoes. Retros Js, Air Max 1s, Vapormax, New balances are my go to shoes. It’s all about comfort now. I wear my Js out of necessity since I spent so much money and time collecting. Sneaker game is not dead regardless what people think. I love seeing shoes being available. What I don’t understand is the double up talk. I never bought a shoe that I needed 2 pairs of. Just keep your shoes clean and in good shape.

I like the classic stuff like playoff 8, black cement 3, Bordeaux 7, they are even doper When you put them in ice for 5 years and break them out I love it and gives me a way better feeling that ANY hype experience ultra hard pair to get for the fact that that the old school releases are just as hard and expensive

We have to get to a point where we understand everything isn't for everyone and thats cool. There are more people and our thoughts are closer than ever so there no way we will see things the same. Understanding that how you were introduced to the Shoe Game matters. For the Jordan's & Hip-Hop go hand 7 hand. So I love a shoe that have a history/story and maybe even I missed out of that shoe due to lack of cash as a kid. But hey the biggest thing is your shoes should speak for your style and love........I.E. your Sole in the game

I love sneakers and I'm not into hypes, I just buy what I want (in retail or Sale only, not into resellers) and I wear them and make them part of my weekly rotation (Work, Play, Church) Simple as that.
The fact that Jordans now have many general release pairs that are actually good makes me happy. Sneakers should be accessible to everyone to enjoy, resell value should not matter if you are a true sneakerhead. And the fact that we can even wait for most of these to go on sale for a true retail steal makes it even better. So yeah, screw resellers. They ruin everything they touch. Sure, I enjoy the occasional hype stuff but only if I really like it, and if I can get it for retail. But most of the time I stick with simple colorways, and the classic pairs, pairs that are easy to rock with anything.

I follow the RUclipss and sneaker events etc all stuff that deal with sneakers just to hear the opinions but I’m just a dude who likes kicks and rocking em with nice fits and it’s been that way since before the resell and hype culture. I’m 35 and for the longest time I didn’t even know there was this whole other world for sneakers until about 7 years ago

I just started collecting and i have heard a lot of stories about the last few years, and i keep thinking i decided to get in at EXACTLY the right time. Nike is way overproducing and a lot of cool shoes are "bricks". But, theres still some hype releases to look forward to at the same time! I reaaaaally want to get those industrial blues on my feet

Nah because people do buy shoes at these sneaker events for their personal collection, but my opinion is that I’d rather pay resell from a consignment shop instead of an event because there’s let theatrics there
I’m a sneaker head that buys shoes I couldn’t get when I was growing up. Always been into Nike basketball (Lebrons, KD’s & Kobe’s), Jordan’s & foamposites. However since it’s basically impossible to win alot of the pairs I love for retail, I’ve ventured over to brands like new balance.
Yes. Sneaker events have gotten mad corny. Every table has the same Nike dunks, Jordan 1s & 4s. Events used to be where people went to search for grails.
Who knows. Maybe it’s just part of growing up. I still love sneakers but the state of the sneaker game just isn’t as fun as it used to be.
Oh yeah, most definitely I’d rather go to my local Sneaker boutique consignment shop type place that ever go to a sneaker con. I know what they have. I have the rapport with them. It’s not only me going to them to buy something but you you establish like a really cool friendship with the guys that own the store, it’s a local area here Monterey Bay, California Seaside, California to be exact and it’s really cool to be able to go to your neighborhood sneaker store. You don’t have to deal with a crazy mall or big event like that or can’t find anything and they’re not willing to give you any kind of cool deal or nothing like that, definitely a big fan of the consignment shops and your local Sneaker boutique
