    Hypercoasters: Nitro (SF Great Adventure), Superman The Ride (Six Flags America), and Steel Force (Dorney Park), but Magnum is right up there, easily in the top 10. Never been to Kennywood but those are always rated very highly. Millennium Force is the most fun I've ever had on a coaster, although that's over 300 feet so not a fair comparison.
    I didn't love ANYTHING at Magic Mountain, but after that stupid X2 snapped my neck it was bound to happen. Don't ride X2 first!!!

    I rode magnum the year it open and it was one of the first if not the first rollercoaster I ever rode. It is still one of my favorite rollercoasters at Cedar Point.

      This was my son's first coaster ride ever when I took him for his first time at Cedar point back in 1996. My first coaster ride for me was back in 1967 at Cedar Point and it was the Blue Streak. There was not a lot there in 1967. Dam I'm getting old.

    I was able to ride this one the month (week?) it opened. They hadn't yet installed the foam padding onto the lap bars, so I had bruises on my legs when I left that day. There was nothing as tall or fast as this one at the time, and it was quite a thrill. Still is. Great coaster.

    I rode in the magic seat and compared to the other seats on the ride, it was rough. I then rode in row 16 and it was smooth, airtime packed, and pulls a ton of Gs.

    For roughness on a coaster nothing compares to Tornado that was at M&Ds. It's no longer there anymore. But if you want a concussion on a rollercoaster then go on Tornado.

    I love the Magic Seat. I had two rides in it back in 2019, and fell in love even more with this coaster (had a crazy, insane ride in the front row in 2017), but this is a strong number two at the park for me, Maverick being one.

    • @yourexperienceguide
      @yourexperienceguide  3 года назад

      Maverick is so good, great choice for number one! :) The magic seat was a let down for me largely because I expected too much from it.

    Hi Scott. If the big one was based on Magnun, why did they get the shape of the hills so wrong compared to Magnum. Makes you wonder if Geoffrey Thompson thought the same when he saw the first drawings on the big one track. Magnum certainly does look the better of the two.

    • @yourexperienceguide
      @yourexperienceguide  3 года назад

      Hi, I think there’s a number of reasons but there’s early drafts that show PMBO was very much Magnum after the turnaround. Factors include spacing, especially because they had to have it work its way back through the park which meant the hills were curved and not triangular along a short footprint. The fact Arrow subcontracted the track work to a UK company will have impacted too.
      I think BPB wanted the world record and were willing to sacrifice it being like Magnum to get it.

    Great video as always, Scott. Picky question. Given the Big One is based on Magnum - why does M have 6 cars and Bo only 5?
    Also - in the collab video you mention other things called Magnum - like the TV series.
    But there’s also a British rock group called Magnum - I call them the best band no one has ever heard of. But I’ve seen them countless times over 20 years and I always think of them when you talk about Magnum Coaster!

    • @yourexperienceguide
      @yourexperienceguide  3 года назад

      @@yourexperienceguide It did depend on the ride from my memory. Steel Vengeance was automated and really sped up to keep throughput as high as possible, but rides like corkscrew and Iron Dragon still had the ops announcing it over the PA system. I will have to lookout for it when I go to opening day this year!

      Big One has the better first drop, Magnum has the better overall layout.

    • @user-qm2bx7tr2i
      @user-qm2bx7tr2i 2 года назад

      @@yourexperienceguide That's true. But the layout doesn't have a to amazing at Blackpool because the crammed chaotic atmosphere in Blackpool, (winding in and out of rides) is at-least exciting itself. If The Big One overlooked a carpark it would be a bigger disappointment. So i brilliant first drop, and a fast 'monorail' layout is fine with me.
