    Is heritage just another way of saying-We don’t want to spend money on doing something different, since we have all these molds from other shoes over the years”??? It seems as if the same designers just move around or pitch ideas to different companies. When was the last time we’ve seen true innovation or completely new never seen before designs on a skate shoe line from a company that didn’t start out making skate shoes ? It’s been a couple years or more. The Tyshawn 1’s were something that was new to my eyes, but it didn’t have the crossover ability that the brand wanted…in my opinion; and I mean crossover ability such as Vans. Anyway, your featured Tyshawn 2 is a nice look back at the past, but it can get lost in the lines with their other models, because it doesn’t stand out visually. Those Lucas Puig’s are different story though. Too bad it didn’t get as much attention. Had those been Tyshawn’s shoes and he did the same tricks and won SOTY in those, there would have been a greater respect I feel.

    • @DavidBluetile
      @DavidBluetile  8 месяцев назад

      I think adidas brought a ton of innovative never seen designs to the table about 5-7 years ago with Nak and FA that didn’t take off. The problem is if you go too far outside the box everyone hates on it. The 3st line was wildly different and just didn’t hit. I loved them but since there was nothing on the market like it nobody wanted it. Or take for instance the flexkee by asics. That shoe is perfect for skating, innovative, durable… and it’s stinking comfortable but you can’t get anyone to wear the dang thing on a large scale. So it just fills that niche until it dies and people go back to a more familiar silhouette. I agree this new Tyshawn looks more current like a dunk or 480 etc but the innovation is in the tech. The light strike and double layer toe box are better for the skate-ability. I would argue that endemic skate brands are bringing less innovation to the game and regurgitating tired designs. I’d be curious what innovations you’ve seen lately. Maybe the best shoes have already been designed? Not sure but this comment was juicy. I like it. I want more innovation. Stay tuned for the reynolds in spring 2025

      @@DavidBluetile I think it’s a good thing to have an opinion and some knowledge of the past, when it comes to skateboarding and skate-related products. I’ll make this real quick, because I have to go to work in a few hours. The first shoe I skated in was a Reebok high top shoe that was nowhere near built or designed for skateboarding. This was way back in the late 80’s…possibly 1990. I wore the heck out that shoe and all I had was a single issue of PowerEdge magazine to reference skateboarding, because I am from Alabama; and skateboarding was nowhere near being accepted. Still, I was determined to skate by any means…also, I wanted to do some type of art in skateboarding. I called companies and begged for opportunities to be a part of what they had going on. Nothing ever came about until one day, I spoke with someone in the art department at AirWalk shoes. He heard my desperation and sincerity. He even sent me a pair of shoes; which I believe they were the “Velocity” model. That shoe held up for an entire year for me. Don’t get me wrong…it was blown out by all means. Still, the craftsmanship and durability the shoe had couldn’t be touched by anything. That was “the shoe”. I called and told the guy about my experience with the shoe and its toughness. Quality mattered back then. He sent me a pair of “Enigmas” (AirWalk). This show held up to the same standard as the first I received. I seriously wore the sole thin, before I blew out the sides. Those two shoes still haven’t been surpassed by any skate shoes I’ve owned…along with that pair of Rebooks. I can say the same thing about some board brands that held up for years, before quality fell off and brands started making disposable decks.
      I personally don’t feel like many companies are setting out to make the best possible product, as things once were many many years ago. Powell makes their version of an I breakable deck, along with a couple others companies, trying their best. Still, back then, it was no big deal to have the same board for well over a year or two. Also, when shoes blew out, duck tape was the shoe repair kit of many skaters both pro and average Joe. Innovation back then meant giving a product a longer skate life, and it was widely accepted. A skater looked forward to seeing ads from companies promising new innovations; think Z-Roller trucks, Grindking, U-Bolts, under board finger grip (Santa Cruz), etc;. For a kid today to brag about a shoe holding up for 2-3 months is laughable, considering that was break-in time for some shoes back then. It’s a shame kids and adults are influenced by other skaters, before they will be seen wearing or trying a brand they actually think looks good in their eyes, but they are afraid of what another skater or group of skaters may say about their choice. I feel this is why freestyle skateboarding didn’t get the acceptance it deserved, because of skateboard bullies. Funny thing though-the ones that chose to stick with freestyle went ion to run skateboarding.
      I hope Tyshawn’s shoe does well for him in the market. It will still be hard to compete with the Nike brand, because they are pushing popularity in everyone’s face even outside of skateboarding. Black kids around the country don’t want to be caught dead wearing anything less than Nike in the streets, school, club, or on a board. This is what mainstream media has given us….and this is why they have the global marketshare that they do. We can’t blame them for taking advantage of this. Rodney Mullen has old ads wearing Converse before Converse was offering skaters shoes. Nikes were worn in old Powell videos, before Nike gave away shoes. Skaters bought what they liked and what worked, before companies started making skate-specific footwear. These days, it’s all contractual, and skaters are paid to influence the masses. I hope this gives an idea of what I liked back then. I currently wear E’s shoes, because they still make shoes that I don’t need to go up a size in order to fit.

    They need to come up with a new silhouette desperately. Every shoe from addidas looks the same.

    • @DavidBluetile
      @DavidBluetile  7 месяцев назад

      Just because of the three stripes? Because this is a different silhouette from the samba, gazelle, super star, Stan smith, campus, the OG Tyshawn’s, the Nora, and the busenitz. Doesn’t share lines with any of those shoes except for the 3 stripes.

    • @2g4u7y

      @@DavidBluetile I will say if you were to put all of the shoes you listed on one side of the room and all of the models that SB is putting out over the last few years and beyond like the Vertebrae, BRSB, Day One, PS8 and even pro models like the Ishod 2’s and Nyjah 3’s. I think the design language is just more creative overall with each silhouette having an individualistic design language and each shoe holding its own as where as the addidas side of the room looks like they aren’t providing their collaborators with enough freedom to express themselves through their sneakers or it may be possible that the design team at Adidas skateboarding doesn’t have a high enough budget to craft new and creative silhouettes. I’ve seen a lot of addidas at my local over the last few years and nothing from Addidas has stood out and made me interested in them aside from the purple Kader Sylla Superstar ADV and even that shoe shares the same outsole as every other brand skate shoe. The Busenitz 1 in 2009 is really the last time I remember being exited about addidas skateboarding. Being able to cut the tung was dope and I wish they’d get back to more creative thinking and expand their design language. New Balance is taking chances like doing that collab with Rone on the Tiago Lemos 1010 last year and that was a great shoe and skates amazing. It seems like addidas isn’t willing to take those chances on skateboarding right now. Would love to hear what your thoughts are.

      @@DavidBluetileI mean idk if you skate a lot, but all the homies here in south Texas can’t stand the excess layer/stitching on the toe because it shreds up and comes apart. The double stitch does ABSOLUTELY nothing against grip tape. That whole side piece stitched on and glued to the sole will/and is already coming apart. The shoe scuffs into brown under the white paint. And no ankle protection, just to name a few.
      Now the tyshawn leather mids construction are basically seamless, ankle protection, insane sole grip, thicker lace, scuffs clean, and no excess material disguised as padding. Overall, way more efficient with less tear. This shoes is a cash grab not meant to last, FOR SKATEBOARDERS.
      I’ve skated all three models, materials and colorways.
      Now for what I skate, I LOVE white leather tyshawn mids. Nike SB GT’s were to tight and narrow. Vans pros are just absurdly uncomfortable, but I do like vans slip ons for a sesh or two lol. But if I want a shoe similar to this tyshawn 2 but still better, superstar ADV are much much better.

    • @DavidBluetile
      @DavidBluetile  4 месяца назад

      @@killmonger4169 I do know that toe piece comes unstitched but the vamp material is sewn into the strobel stitch so its fully a second layer of material. If you dab super glue on those stitches it holds up super well and if it does come off you can just glue the toe wrap back down to the vamp and its so much more durable than the mid with one layer on the toe. I know the seamless toe box is intuitive because there are no seams to pop but the construction on the 2 is basically a seamless toe box with an extra piece of leather sewn around it. NB# do this as well. If you just seriously... the slightest dab of super glue it makes em damn near bullet proof! haha not a glob of super glue but just a dab on the stitches. you can't even see that you put super glue on it. the stitches absorb the glue and hold up to ollie wear. I def prefer the silhouette of the 2 more than the OG tyshawn. even the fit is better for me. but as I say too often... feet are different.
      scuffing to brown paint... because its a higher grade leather than most shoes. its more like a like a boot leather so it wears down to the actual color of leather.
      no ankle protection is just a preference. mids make most people look like they got cankles. haha thats why usually the debate is high or low and mids are left out of the equation. Jordan mid. dunk mid. (I loved dunk mids) but anyway... mids are usually clowned on. the half cab is definitely the exception.
