  • How much do Trainee Accountants earn? Today we look at potential salaries of CIMA students but salaries which are also very reflective for CIMA, ACCA & ACA. This is probably the most popular beginner question for anyone looking to qualify as an accountant.
    Today I look to address the rumours & confirm whether or not the accountancy profession is a great paying profession. We'll look at expected salaries at each level of the qualification (operational, management & strategic) & then look at the earning potential you will have once you are a full CGMA.

      It obviously all depends on how quickly you pass the exams. But I would aim approx 18 months!

    I started a level 7 apprenticeship (CIMA) 8 months ago. Due to exemptions, I am studying at the management level and have passed my first exam. My company is coming towards the performance appraisal period, so im expecting a meeting about my next years performance targets and possibly pay. Im earning £28.5k, should I ask for a payrise to £35k maybe?
    I never done a payrise negoviation before and HR dont seem to have any published guidelence around payrises, so not sure how to approach this...

    • @CRAIGO10
      @CRAIGO10  6 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t have the knowledge of how your company operates but from my experience, you’re pay is predominatently linked to your role.
      Yes I recieved small pay rises for progression but not at £6.5k for finishing 2 levels.
      Ultimately a business will reward you for the role you have and the effectiveness on the job.
      Of course push it, but don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t get you to £35k! 😀
      Hope that helps!

    Does the FLP of cima make any difference in terms of getting preference while applying for a job? If so is that a positive or a negative preference for the companies?
    Ps I've just turned 22 and I live in India and am going to give my operation level case study this November, do you think I would have a chance of getting hired in a UK based company?

    Controversial Q - Do you believe that women CIMA students/CGMA's make the same as their male counterparts?

    • @CRAIGO10
      @CRAIGO10  2 года назад +6

      Ohhh very controversial & not an easy question to answer. My opinion; two new hires at entry level, yes. Two 40 year olds, one male who has worked all the way through vs a female who took a 5 year career break to look after a new born, maybe not. They would have missed out on 5 years of appraisal increases. And then the argument of do women get to the high level roles as frequently as men, probably not and therefore paid less. A lot of studies out there on this, give them a search! 😬
