i owned the exact same bike my first cruiser loved it and it is bulletproof, but had the opportunity to more or less steal a 2002 honda VTX1800r so i took a huge jump

I sold it too, and after owning a couple of other bigger bikes, ended up getting back to another shadow ace. Just love the simplicity of this machine.

Great video. I also have a 1999 honda shadow ace 750. Yes the blueing on the exhaust is from running lean. The previous owner probably put the exhaust on without a proper re jet. You probably just need to have the carbs rejetted. Other than that great bike, these things are bulletproof!

Bought my phantom in 14. ZERO issues so far (2023). Good thing! Shadows aren't sold in Canada anymore .

Love the ACE. I had a 2003 and loved it. Yours is a great colour. Think it’s time for me to get another one. Enjoy!

When using aftermarket drag pipes, you need to install a dyna-jet carb kit ($80-90 US), to avoid lean mixture

    • @thomasboulay3309
      @thomasboulay3309 2 года назад

I also have a 1999 Ace deluxe 750 cd2 and I ruined the first set of pipes by not doing the jet kit. It involves removing the carbs and drilling/ adding new ,larger jets to enrichen the air/ fuel mixture. Took about 2 hours with the adjustments after install.

    • @grinding-gears

That explains the pipe turning blue

Do you still happen to own this shadow? I was wondering how that LED headlight is mounted inside your headlight housing. As far as I know the daymaker lights need a fabricated bracket in order to fit. If possibly may you post a video of it or possibly pm some photos?

    • @grinding-gears

Hi, I bought the bike the way it looks in the video, I believe it is fabricated to fit, I could see silicon cocking around it to.make it water proof.
Sorry I wasn't of enough help

Stop using sea foam for the love of god. If you ride it enough there is absolutely zero need for that
99.9% of gasoline these days have “detergents” in them already

All ACES run lean from the factory.

Bullet proof ? Yes. Rev limiter set very low extends the life of the engine. But slow as a snail. Top speed of a whole 91 mph and not In a hurry about getting there either. I’d take one of the old 750 4’s over the v twin any day. Better engine all the way around. I love Honda’s but the shadow was a disappointment unless your a newbie.

It is definitely a good beginner,
People still enjoy riding them around and taking it easy. Not if you are looking for that adrenaline rush.
