- Xbox Series X is actually a fantastic console and Xbox Series S was a very smart move as a cheaper alternative that still supports high end features like ray tracing. Backed my Microsoft , one of the richest companies in the world and exclusive Games like Halo Infinite should have been a slam dunk!
Add Gamepass to the mix and the fact they own activision blizzard and even bethesda - what could go wrong? Well, a lot it turns out. Xbox is a brand that competes against nintendo and also sony. The PS5 has about the same power as Xbox Series X and The Nintendo Switch is far weaker than both of those consoles, and yet is out performing both of them combined.
Microsoft has spent billions, buying up video game studios for the xbox brand but the bottom line is... the must have exclusives that draw sales are just not available on xbox series x or s.
Fear is great motivation in the Gaming Industry and Xbox has none of that. They don't NEED each Games to succeed and blow Gamers away and that is actually a big part of the problem. Also, Gamepass lowers quality expectations of fans. The next xbox console will likely be set up but current fans, waiting for the next halo game or something xbox 2024 exclusives? Its not looking good.
My opinion is microsoft would do better with LESS money. Yep, I said it. They need the pressure to look at xbox games and figure out what will wow the most. Must have xbox exclusives should be on everyone's lips, instead of "they stole that franchise".
Xbox news should be their games look better than the competition because no one else even has the money to compete. they also have some amazing games coming up like hell blade 2.

Nonsense. It’s years of pure incompetence. Business decisions that even non-business people knew weren’t ever going to work.
Marching mediocre games out in front of the brand like State of Decay, Redfall, Crackdown 3 etc. The gaming public will never support something like that.
Their current objective is not to make the best Games possible, so we actually agree with each other 😛
Gamepass as the primary focus amd buying out studios does not lead the great Games that lead to success
Thanks for the video. For me, xbox 360 was peak for gaming and games on the xbox Console. Sony has a chance, but it depends if they back track after Stellar Blade comes out and start censoring again

That was a good time in Gaming. I remember watching my friend play Oblivion on the 360, and I thought that looked amazing until I saw Fight Night running on it... Still blows my mind how good FN looks.
Yeah, no one cam get lazy and that def includes Sony. I hope they start to get their act together and put the Gamer first again

We need more games like Starfield on the Xbox. Fact is there is an underwhelming amount of games that are released on Xbox then it is from any other console. The lack exclusive titles. I understand more are coming in the future but it's not enough to move the goal post as soon they want it. They've decided to not take it as serious in the beginning of the Xbox One stage and they paid dearly for it. This push to monopolies the industry only made situations worse and does nothing in improving their situation.
Yeah, I really wanted this generation to be a big win for Xbox. I was excited for it!
The decisions made have not been great ones and a loooot of money, not used wisely.
Also they bought companies that are normally third party. Meaning, Xbox fans would have gotten Games like Stanfield anyway, without a purchase needed.
I think its a lot more than this.. The nintendo devs dont just live in fear they also work in creative environments and get a lot of support from management. Its the exact opposite for xbox.

They have fantastic practises, like keeping senior staff around but guiding and teaching the Nintendo values to new employees

I was so hyped for the Xbox Series consoles, you probably remember my videos on the Series S, the second one with around 1700 views was my most succesful video on this channel so far.
You made really good points and I didn't think about that, you convinced me that Gamepass wasn't such a great idea. It's funny, the games I really enjoyed on my Gamepass, except for Halo Infinite which I quite enjoyed despite it all abd Forza Horizon which isn't my type but still impressive, are older games, or Double A which were acquired later by Microsoft, the Halo games, I loved them, and Wasteland 3, I had such a blast playing that game, I bought the other games.
I really thought that Xbox would do great things this generation, instead they kept disappointing us and I so appreciated when you mentioned the acquisitions. These Xbox centered channels kept talking about the Blizzard/Activision purchase, and I remember being annoyed at that, I couldn't care less. I wanted games! I wanted to be awed and excited!
I remember by the way that the first video I commented on your channel, or so I thought because I couldn't find my comment anymore, was Everwild. Where is that game? It was so promising and beautiful, wasn't it? I kept showing the second trailer to prove that video games are indeed art. Man, I want to hear about that game.
I saw so much potential, with talented studios, but everything seems to be so watered down. I really hope Avowed will deliver.
I quickly wanted to touch on Nintendo as well, even during their least succesful consoles eras, they still delivered great games, the Wii U had Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country : Tropical Freeze and Splatoon. Even at the lowest of their lows, they still worked hard to deliver.
Now, I can't wait to have my first Playstation (My brother had the others but it wasn't mine) console ever with the PS5 and I can't wait for the Switch 2. I hope the Xbox brand will change otherwise it's the end for them in my opinion, but I think we need at least 3 console brands on the market to have a healthy competition, 2 is not enough.

I was hyping the Xbox Series X and S and excited for the future possibilities.
I think Gamepass can be awesome by itself but I always suspected the long term effects would not be great and it seems I was right. I was worried the quality of Xbox releases would not be a priority for Microsoft if there focus was completely on GP instead of sales and console sales.
Buying the exclusive rights and spending Billions to buy Third Party Games that would have come to Xbox anyway, was a silly idea in my opinion. If I am to only look from the xbox Gamers perspective and what he or she directly gains.
I know you love your Series S and I'm sure you will still get lots of use out of it 🙂
As usual, I used this topic for a broader conversation (even if many will miss the point, lol). That fear can be a good thing because I do believe Xbox has the talent to create even more amazing Games. A movie destined for Netflix is never going to aim as high as a movie for the Cinema. A Game for Gamepass, will not strive to be the best Game ever made. It will strive for good enough and I think we have enough lazy publishers in our industry, lolo.
I agree with you on Wii U Games. Actually, most of Switches most successful and popular Games are Wii U ports. The console sales failed because of many different reasons but it was not the Games, I'm with you 100%
I hope you enjoy your PS5 and I hope Sony improves as well because they are making a lot of mistakes lately and I judge everyone fairly. I selfishly want to see Games everywhere improve because that makes me happy Hahaha.

I understand what you are saying about Xbox Gamepass, the long terms effects aren't that great indeed. I have another friend who doesn't really like it either.
I partly agree with you on that, partly disagree. When it comes to Bethesda it wasn't so silly because Playstation wanted to buy the exclusivity of Starfield and Xbox couldn't afford that at the time. However, when it comes to Activision/Blizzard it was really silly indeed and I was tired of hearing about it.
Oh yes, I don't regret buying the Series S, I had great time wit it and I'm sure that won't change.
People will often miss the points when you look beyond what they are used to look at. We live in a very individualistic society, devoid of nuances and many people don't like it when you try to make them look what's happening beyond their front windows. I think you did well to open this discussion and you made really good points. The good thing is that some people want to look further and want to think, those people matter, the other ones, well they can always come back.

Oh yes, I'm glad we agree on the Wii U. It still kept the Nintendo spirit despite it all. I think that the Nintendo spirit is impossible to imitate.
Yes, I hope so too and I believe I will. Yes I know, they aren't doing so great at the moment but no, to answer your question I didn't have a PS4, that's why I'm not too worried about that, I know I have a lot of amazing games on the system that I've never played. I can't wait.

Money certainly is only as useful as what can be done with it. It can attract the right sort of talent though if they tried 🙂 or maybe the talent is already there but the support is not?

It really has been a strange series of decisions and insanely expensive ones as well. I don't know if Microsoft will even bother with consoles after this generation and just have Gamepass available everywhere

I wanted to buy the Xbox Series X, but retailers don't stock the games any more. Very few still stock the console, so I bought another PS5. I had some money burning a hole in my back pocket and I didn't want to leave empty handed so I picked up another five PS5 games. Microsoft seems to have stopped production, I don't see any reason to buy the Xbox Series X?

@@GamingMyWholeLife In the UK and EU the Xbox is not selling, game retailers are using the stock room space for PS5 and Switch. I'm just pleased Sony is still supporting the PS4.I'm happy with the PS5, it is better than the PS3.
