This game was my entire childhood! Such a hidden gem thanks for covering. Remember my dad buying it in a supermarket bargain bin for me in 2001 for next to nothing because he thought the cover art was cool.
You are so welcome!! permission to sound like a dag here, but it honestly feels me with joy to be able to talk about such an old Game that was special to me and to learn others felt and still feel passionately about it 🙂 The original devs are working on a remake actually! Look up "Hogs of War Lardcore" on RUclips if your interested - the devs have a channel as well ^__^
I'm so glad you enjoyed my little video and Thank you kindly! 😃 Still holds up and I'm replaying a new save file as we speak hahaha Trying out different promotion strategies 😎
A kind of schoolboy error here - it was actually 'Command & Conquer' that inspired Hogs Of War. For one's notes, you can check out the Retro Hour Podcast (Episode 172 specifically), where you'll hear Jacob Habgood, lead programmer of Hogs, say those exact words. Furthered by the fact that he also says Worms had no association with Hogs Of War, as far as inspiration is concerned. I fully notate/dictate the fact this is often overlooked by 99% of players, but I figured I'd bring it to the attention, as Jake's words mean a lot in that regard. Furthermore, there are some other things I'd like to address. Such as Grenades and Bazookas and how they're different to the Worms design. For one, there is no wind to factor for Hogs, which helps out with the judging of aiming. Another thing for Grenades, and some Bazooka-inspired weapons in Hogs, you can detonate them any time within the weapon's time limit, which is usually between 5 - 7 seconds. Which you simply cannot do in the majority of Worms games, if not all of them.
Aki gets the job done!! 😃 I love that in the past, we were both enjoying this Game and can look back at it so fondly 2 decades later. Also some of the original Devs are working on a remake called "Hogs Of War: Lardcore"
I did know know that!! Thanks for watching and I'm glad you also have fond memories of this little Gem 💎 Also some of the original Devs are working on a remake called "Hogs Of War: Lardcore"
Oh and I know I compare Hogs Of War to Worms a lot (for obvious reasons) but please know I love the Worm Series ~and was even one of the rare players who loved the 3D Versions!
I recently found out about it!! Didn't even know about the failed kickstarter (which I feel if more people actually knew about it it would have been a success). Is pretty mind blowing that a Game I have never forgetting still has a thriving community and some of the original devs still have ambitions with the Game 😃
Been looking at some videos from the devs and it sounds like they might try kickstarter again later on if they don't just do it all themselves anyway. I plan on letting people know through the comment section that it exists in the first place and spread some awareness ^__^
Oh fantastic!! Means I managed to get my point across about what I found enjoyable 😃 Also some of the original Devs are working on a remake called "Hogs Of War: Lardcore"
HoW is also available for PC on GoG. However, since it's such a legacy title, getting it to run may be difficult. I tried it with Win 98 compatability mode and it was not enough.
Nothing upsets me more then finding out an old Game I love is on PC, buy it and it won't run 😑 I still had the original PS1 Disk, The original devs are working on a remake actually! Look up "Hogs of War Lardcore" on RUclips - the devs have a channel as well
That lets you know what angle your current weapon will release at. So a Grenade is always up a bit bit still going straight. If its fully straight, u can throw grenades in a way where it jumps on water 🙂

Hogs is coming back for the playstation and pc. The new game is called Hogs of War Reheated
It sure is!! Even after the failed kickstarter they are pushing ahead 😃
Way ahead of it's time think a remake with online play would do well
Currently in the works actually 😁 Original Devs bought back the rights and have been slowly working away.
Last level could be cheesed if you killed all the enemies round 1 before the back up parachute in. Loved this game.
