The top-spec Ayaneo 2S being crowdfunded on Indiegogo now has 64GB DDR5 RAM, 4 TB SSD with the Ryzen 7 7840U in such a small form factor. It is 20% off now and in a different league altogether compared to the competition for the people who can afford to spend more. You don't really need a 120htz refresh rate screen when most games will not push beyond 60FPS on medium to high settings in a device this small. 1200p makes the screen even better. Even laptops don't come with these high specs for this price range. I have the Ayaneo 2 2TB and I absolutely love using it. It has worked flawlessly to date. Sad that Ayaneo is not giving any incentives for us who purchased Ayaneo 2 which is barely 3 months old. Still me being a sucker for handhelds, I have paid for the 64GB 4TB one on Indiegogo. Honestly i wish the AyaNeo 2s prices were closer to what the Geek1s prices are (then I may have pulled the trigger). No doubt the AyaNeo2s is the best 7' handheld in the world, with the only thing something like Rog Ally has over it is the 120hz FreeSynch display (i still like the AyaNeo bezel-less display more). I feel like the pricing structure at atleast $100 less for every AyaNeo model and size configuration (where the hell is 1tb storage, why only 512 and 2tb?) would be more competetive, and ideally $200 less for each model (at which point I'd probably buy my first handheld).

spec wise it should be round the same as the Z1 chips, but the differences will be in the sofware as Linux and Valve SteamOS can squeeze better performance where as Windows is damn system hog and drivers are still young for the 7800u/Z1 chips. The ideal set up is these latest chips 7840u/Z1 with matured drivers running on Linux...and Linux finally getting around 95% compatability PLUS some application/distro standards..because right now those are the two big things holding Linux Back from toppling Windows as the best gaming platform for PC.

I love the design of the 2S but Ayaneo is just not good enough with their support outside of China, the Geek apparently has very bad QA problems with the controls not working whatsoever and a lot of problems with triggers, you are lucky to get help with anything from what I read and there are 0 replacement parts unlike with the AOKZOE theres a lot of parts for replacement
Same reason I went with One X Player 2. Controllers are detachable and there parts available, 3 months in for the device and no issues, 6 months in for my Mini Pro and no issues. People love to knock on Chinese manufacturers but don’t realize everything they buy practically comes from China
ETA Prime your video captivated me to get a 2S so thank you! Question tho… are you getting those frame rates in Cyberpunk without experiencing any ripple effect (form of tearing)? I’m not able to experience those frames unless I tolerate the ripple effect and have AMD FSR enabled through game. Great device and all, but personally I prefer the traditional laptop form factor. Hope more companies jump in and do what GPD does on their Max lineup.
I have to agree, there are traditional gaming setups that cost less and play harder than what is provided on MSM using any handheld that is forced upon me for the direct west shoot to be quested? Simple thing elopes
I really wish we had lower resolution, but higher quality, screens. 720p is enough for this size screen, and it's easier to drive. I'd much rather have OLED than a few extra pixels on such a small device.
Just looked at some other reviews. While this uses a laptop chip (15 watts lowest), ROG Ally's is actually a custom chip (9wats lowest). Please the fact this company puts out 4 to 8 new models a year, I don't know how long support will last. Oh, support... gonna have to send it back to China for that. :(

Its simple. With ayaneo it is like with laptops, new mobile components come out and they try to adapt them to current standards. Just see how often laptop manufacturers release new models.
People are so hung up on the power of these handhelds. You're taking for granted the controls. Make sure whatever device you're getting has controls that work for you. For example, I love everything about this Ayaneo 2S except for the buttons being directly above the right analog stick. If you're going to use the XBox style layout, the buttons should be in a V-shape like the Xbox Controller, so that your thumb doesn't have to reach over the analog stick. That will cramp your thumb very quickly. Oddly enough, the Ayaneo Geek 1S seems to have the correct layout.
The Rog Ally is cheaper, broader available (can get them now) and a better CPU (thanks to the new update, check Dave2D new video from yesterday). Would be interesting seing a comparison video with performance, battery life, fps, cooling (how warm), weight, screen specs, availability etc... :)
The Z1 extreme is not a better CPU or GPU, basically the same, 7840u is slightly faster. The main advantage here is 7500mt DDR5X ram and 32GB option which should help with future games. The Ally is pretty good though and at a decent price.
Hey ETA PRIME, do you ever do a review that has some cons to it? Every product you test you make it sound to be perfect with a short term review but won't compare with other products etc
@Alexis he will never do that cause it breaks the mold of his cookie cutter reviews. If you haven't noticed all his reviews are the same just some words swapped around to match whatever device or operating system it is

@etaprime did you have to do something special to run ram at 7500mhz or can it just be picked in bios. Like the average user will be able to set that. Or only on that review device since they havent officially announced 7500 in the discord
It has 7500 but it’s running at 6400 because the cpu doesn’t like anything above that so it’s pointless
If only it came out with normal colours for the top-spec instead of one with the gaudy "B.Duck" print.
Except "most" games would go above 60Hz, just not brand new or overly demanding recent triple A titles
@@shahtayyib Maybe platformers and older games could go >60 FPS but if playing at 1200p it would be pushing the device and battery life to the limit.
I love my Ayaneo 2 B.Duck and the new black one looks really cool IMO.
It's not only 120hz that is the benefit of the Ally screen, it's the VRR. So you get smooth gameplay even if you get some FPS dips.
Rog ally for now for me, but certainly excited to see what othr companies comemout with and those prices will only drop more and more i hope

the funny thing is by the time im able to put aside some cash, some other brand will release a better handheld and i have to watch tons of reviews of it before comitting to purchase,
these price tags aren't a joke lmao
$1000+ 💀
The specs are OK but ASUS and Steam is still the king price wise right now but the HAL effect Analog sticks and triggers are a big plus.

The most exciting part about all of this for me is, this is only the beginning. Gen2,3,4 of these products are going to be unreal.
Only the beginning of what? They release a new one every 6 months or sell them anyway
We’re already on gen 2,3,4,5,6 depending what company you’re looking at. GPD especially. Its the shipping time and availability and price thats holding everything back
Can you share where do you get those awesome dynamic wallpapers?
I'm glad the Steam Deck went for a completely different look than all the other handhelds out there.
I'm just laughing or had enough of them there done that before crowd before in the same time to 😢😢
Please. The thing was a rectangle and the screen was absolute garbage compared to 90% of the other handhelds out before and after it.
@@percyvolnar8010 For a lower price and it runs on linux
@@percyvolnar8010 I've slain through games on the SD, and never had any complaints about the screen. I had the Switch lite prior to the SD, and I think the SD has a slightly better screen than that one. I didn't mind the Switch lite either, I guess I'm not that picky.
@@panamike6178 You're comparing the steam deck to nintendo decks and thats fine. i'm comparing the Steam deck to the very handhelds that inspired it. I am a handheld enthusiast and I own 3 Onexplayers, 3 Ayaneo devices, and 2 GPD devices. Mind you these devices were available before the SD even launched. pretty much all of them had better screens than the SD. In the past, ive done videos showing all of the devices side-by-side.
The Ally has VRR and a landscape display, this has a 32gb 7500mhz ram option and a 25% larger battery, I cant decide!
My only issue with these handhelds is the controller layout is cramped. The sticks are directly above or below the buttons & dpad. Causes me muscle pain. Xbox & playstation controllers have an ergonomic layout "V". Sticks are offset. up and to the left or right allowing natural range of motion for those thumbs. Ill probably still buy this one lol
ROG Ally Z1 Extreme is the best of best, best quality build, best hardware, can buy at the same price anytime without rushing, and best price in the market!
Blud steam deck has the best price
Definitely rog ally
@@findgod... Is not because Rog Ally has way better chip, better build, better sound, better screen, better heat disipation which are dual quiet fans and all for 699 usd
At these prices no chance in competition for any of these Handhelds from China. Unfortunately there's absolutely nothing ETA can say to make anyone invest this much money on a device that will have less support and inferior Specs on some areas and the same on others comparing to the Ally. ROG has killed theses smaller brands. Ayaneo has released almost 4 devices in less than a Year. Wtf 😂
Exactly 699 USD and can buy any time for that price plus there are special offers like black friday where this device still can go down, plus for repair not need to worry there are asus service center everywhere. That Aya Neo early price only for a low number of stock after that is kek. Me will buy rog ally too
I mean, you would be right but the Geek 1S actually is significantly cheaper than the ALLY and would outperform it.
You have to fly to China at Ayaneo headquarter to fix this $1000 device 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
always interested with ayaneo products .. ill give it more time to see how that aya o.s will turn out. and hopefully they can sell retail in the future
Here watching and waiting for my Ally 😁 to get me back to heandhelds after 20 years!
Can't wait to see ROG comparison. The early bird pricing on this 2S 32gb ram and 2tb ssd is actually pretty awesome.
@@slickrounder6045 I did notice I couldn't find a 1tb model haha that really doesn't make sense. A 1tb model with a price close to the ROG would be very competitive. My main concern with Ayaneo is the support and software stuff. Like valve and asus is so big and mainstream not much to worry about. So for now I'll keep my ROG pre order and just keep learning
Why would anyone buy a gaming device from a Chinese company with 0 customer support ?
@@rust2156 why would anyone buy a gaming handheld with good customer service but shitty performance from tiwan like Rog ally or steamdeck 🤣

the best ayaneo yet. I hear this every 6 months...

The resolution 800p on Geek
@@ghostsauce3109 ah okay thank you
@@kontonce89 yeah same processor, the placement of sticks is different I believe and lastly I think the bezels aren't bezel less on the geek I think those are only main differences other than on higher end 2s you can get 64 gigs ram but that's only for their special edition 2s's the regular ram size is standard across geek n 2s also at this power level currently the geek screen res would do just fine
They're cranking these out
I bought the Aya Neo 2021 Retro Power Pro to future proof my purchase lmao. Would love the Aya 2s but gotta stick to my old trusty potatoe handheld haha
That thing looks really nice, and I like the colour and design of it too.👍
What's the name of wallpaper you used at 3:37, very cool!
Random question but what wallpaper background is that?
This handheld space is really exciting.
Just like the Steam Deck, what will give the Ally the edge over the rest is the price
Pretty much spot on.
Unfortunately even if the Aya neo 2s is priced well, import, shipping and taxes ends up significantly more.
Would be really interested to see some comparisons of this to the ROG to the Steam Deck.
spec wise it should be round the same as the Z1 chips, but the differences will be in the sofware as Linux and Valve SteamOS can squeeze better performance where as Windows is damn system hog and drivers are still young for the 7800u/Z1 chips.
The ideal set up is these latest chips 7840u/Z1 with matured drivers running on Linux...and Linux finally getting around 95% compatability PLUS some application/distro standards..because right now those are the two big things holding Linux Back from toppling Windows as the best gaming platform for PC.
@@AdmiralBisonthat’s incorrect it’s about 20% faster than the rog ally take a look at the benchmarks
@@sergiohernandez7321 the SD is 20% faster than the Z1 chip?
@@AdmiralBison no he was trying to say the aya neo and rog are about the same performance but thats simply not the case the aya neo is 15-20% faster than the rog. Not only is the chip a bit faster bc its meant for bigger hardware like laptops it also has faster ram at 7500mhz vs 6400mhz
Im interested over the Ally mainly for the joysticks, i used the Ally at a demo in Best Buy and i really hate not having full size sticks
It’s it actually running the ram at 7500 because on indiegogo it says 7500 ram at 6400 for compatibility. Anyways right stick looks like a nightmare to use being that low
I would buy this, if it wasn't for the import taxes and ridiculously high shipping. Plus I don't really trust the customer support with Ayaneo...
And ayaneo is releasing devices WAY too fast. The Aya neo Air is only a year old and already about 4 new devices have been announced or released....
€700 early bid price turns to 900/1000 for most europeans after Import taxes and shipping prices.
That sucks, for my Ayaneo 2 shipping was free and no import taxes to the US. Blame your government I guess.
Shipping is free to the EU I think? But import tax is pretty high.
@@bnr32jason Yeah Europe, especially Netherlands, are really high with taxes on products. 21% over here at least...
Perfer the look of this device to the Ally but I'm still getting the Ally as feel will be supported for longer and improve more as it gets updates and more support. That said great to see more players in the market.
1 x NVME 2280 support!
Nice, can start upgrading these bad boys with 4TB and 8TB storage, plus the Micro-SD slot.
Gotta say the neo 2s is the best looking handheld. Also the ui looks better than expected

Virtually the same
It's gonna be the same but cost $300 more and be made by a random kickstarter company rather than Asus.
It’s better
@@CJTheTokay says no one.
@@CJTheTokay why exactly is it better?
I’m using V-Sync to smoothen out games play tho of course I’m not pushing more than 60 frames really.
Where will this be sent from? If outside EU i will have to add 30% to the price.
Why have you never showed the rog ally benchmarks to compare??
The software on this looks so much slicker than the Rog Ally's
Would love to see a comparison video to the Aokzoe A1 pro instead of rog ally.
I really wish we had lower resolution, but higher quality, screens. 720p is enough for this size screen, and it's easier to drive. I'd much rather have OLED than a few extra pixels on such a small device.
hey what program are you using for the live wallpaper ?
Just looked at some other reviews. While this uses a laptop chip (15 watts lowest), ROG Ally's is actually a custom chip (9wats lowest). Please the fact this company puts out 4 to 8 new models a year, I don't know how long support will last. Oh, support... gonna have to send it back to China for that. :(
4:43 you're wrong.

Aya neo churning out handhelds like no tomorrow.
What these companies do not understand is thunbsticks on handhelds need to be symmetrical.
Only valve understand this.
They don’t “need” to be symmetrical. Many prefer the asymmetrical setup, so it’s just a preference.
@@JB-tp6uj many what ? Crazy people. Thumb sticks do need to be symmetrical on all handhelds . Only works on control pads as they are so close together.
@@reignofswords6575 Try to step outside of yourself for a moment and understand that not everyone feels the same way you do. For example, I prefer the asymmetrical look. As do many other people. I don’t look down on those who prefer a symmetrical layout. But there’s no “need” for all companies to have it.

And I assure you, Valve’s layout choice wouldn’t mean anything if they didn’t have an attractive price point.
still waiting for that 2s vs ally comparison u mentioned :)
I get suspicious when a company starts offering 3-5 models a year.
Its simple. With ayaneo it is like with laptops, new mobile components come out and they try to adapt them to current standards. Just see how often laptop manufacturers release new models.
So you’re suspicious of every laptop manufacturer, ever?
@@milkyy4168 With the amount of class actions are you saying you aren't?
That animated wallpaper whats software is that? I want to download it too.
7:34 what does he mean that there is more to come?
Really looking forward to see how Street Fighter 6 performs on these new 7840U handhelds.
