Lippincott Road in Death Valley National Park

  • One of the most thrilling trails in Death Valley National Park is Lippincott Pass. With its single-track shelf roads, it's considered one of the most dangerous roads to travel through Death Valley. There are signs stating that a high clearance 4x4 vehicle is a minimum and that tow services will not come to rescue your vehicle.
Although I state the trail starts at Racetrack Playa, the road is not considered one-way. You may also start from Saline Valley road. You will hope there will be no opposing traffic since the road can get very tight.
Is it dangerous? I've traveled through here twice with several vehicles. Last time I was there, at least two sections of the road were washed out leaving the path less than the average width of an SUV. Driving with caution and a lifted vehicle should be enough to get you through. The first time I was here, there was a stranded rental minivan with a trail of transmission fluid behind it. Passengers were not at the scene.
In this 2019 video, I was driving our 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser.
Always be prepared and check the Death Valley website for road conditions and closures.

I would go downhill after coming from Ubehebe Crater, Teakettle Junction and Racetrack. Thanks for watching!

Does Lippincott drop you off at the racetrack, then back towards Tea Kettle junction? Thanks for the ride!

You can start from the bottom at Saline Valley Road and travel up Lippincott to Racetrack. From Rscetrack you drive up to Tea Kettle. Thanks for watching!

Is there a Canon ball run for off roading?😅
