- Both Carolinas and Virginia are under a state of emergency as they prepare for Hurricane Florence to make landfall later this week. CBS News' Mola Lenghi reports from Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, where residents are getting ready for the potentially catastrophic storm.

@Event Horizon the Nuclear power plants you're talking about are old and should be replaced with 6th generation plants like they have in China. Much safer and we now know way more than we did about nuclear more than 40 years a go.

This has the scent of a catastrophe and I was in the heart of Hazel and remember that there was death and damage everywhere. The East Coast hurricanes are usually smaller but this is a large, well-organized storm, closing in on California.

It's going to be worse than anyone thinks. It's good to see people getting out of there. Somebody needs to investigate price gouging for gas. It is illegal to do that to people in a state of emergency. All gas stations doing this to people should be stripped of their licensing and the owners should be jailed.
It is immoral but business owners have a right to choose their own prices.

Yes, I'm in SC. We know our buildings aren't made well. On top of that hurricanes aren't very common like with FL. We take natural events seriously.

My aunt lives in Wilmington nc but she care home to pa and her husband is in marines and he hade to have 60 days off to leave the base and I don’t live in the Caroline’s but I’m in pa and getting the after stuff of Florence my hope and prayers go out to u guy ☺️

I live in NC. Today my school ended 2 hours early, school is canceled for the next two days, and some people are leaving. Most of NC already has LOTS of water and floods happen fast. Hurricane Mathew destroyed a school near me and the students got separated to different schools. AND there are even 2 more hurricanes forming that has a high chance of hitting us. I hope nothing serious will happen. 🙏

People that aren’t considering evacuating need to keep some things in mind...When the water rises in your home, don’t take shelter in your attic (when water rises nowhere to escape unless you have an ax). Another thing, water + electricity equals electrocution! And tornados also happen! I went through Hurricane Katrina in Biloxi, MS.

You really should go...I went through Katrina and a lot of the people that stayed behind regretted it. They lost their homes and were stranded without food/water for 3 days until they were rescued!

Ohio will not be hit, and that is where I am. But, it will hit North Carolina, (Already hit South Carolina), Kentucky, Tennessee, etc. Also, there is a Hurricane/Tropical Storm is hitting Hawaii, where I was born, all of this makes me sad... stay safe everyone, remember god is with you.

The eye of hurricane Katrina was over us in Biloxi, MS around midnight and it was complete silence...You would think it had passed. I didn’t get a beautiful experience from it. More like eerie.
