  • Air Force One (AF1) a highly customised Boeing 747-200, designated a Boeing VC-25A seen arriving at London Stansted Airport with United States of America President Barack Obama aboard for the final trip to the United Kingdom as POTUS.
    The arrival of President Barack Obama to London Stansted Airport late on 21st April 2016 began the last international visits to Europe by President Obama who is nearing the end of his two term period in office.
    London Stansted Airport was chosen as the preferred arrival airport, and prior to the touchdown of Air Force One, a Boeing VC-25A (Modified Boeing 747-200) we see the arrival of SeaKing helicopters under the flight name of "Nighthawk" - these change to "Marine One/Two" if carrying the President. Further there is a formation flight of Osprey MV22 prop aircraft.
    This video was shot late into a very cold evening meaning natural light was at virtual zero. The popular event was well attended may affect sound slightly in places.
    I hope you enjoy watching the video. I look forward to Likes, Comments and shares. Thanks for taking time to view.

    Thanks for uploading this. I was lucky enough to catch (see, not board!) Airforce 1 & 2 at Denpasar, Bali a few years back. I especially like the Presidential Easyjet at about 2 to 3 minutes 😀

    What sort of time did he arrive? Airspace South of EGSS was closed from 2000Z, was going to wait around after work but looks like it was late in the evening

      +Umbongo Hi, thanks for watching my video of Air Force One arriving at London Stansted Airport. I am sorry for the delay in responding. Aircraft began arriving from around 8pm and came in waves right up until gone 10pm when AF1 landed. Unfortunately that made it a difficult one to catch as there was literally zero natural light. Thanks again for watching.

    Very interesting how they fly the President over to other countries, the security is amazing. I understand that the USA fly the motorcade over before he arrives are the vehicles in all these aircraft?

    • @aviationvideos
      @aviationvideos  8 лет назад

      +Robby334 Thanks a lot for watching my video of Air Force One arriving at London Stansted. Everything is flown over and in place before the arrival of the President. It is a very fluid event and just seems to run so smoothly. Immense planning clearly. I'm pleased you enjoyed the views. Thanks for your comment.

    sooo... would an osprey use marine one or airforce one?

    • @aviationvideos
      @aviationvideos  8 лет назад

      +joek0617 Hi thanks for watching my video of Air Force One arriving at London Stansted. The Osprey's used the "Nighthawk" callsign, I am no expert but my understanding is that the aircraft would only carry a callsign of AF1 or Marine1 if carrying the President. I'm not sure he travels on those. (Happy for anyone to clarify)

    • @joek0617
      @joek0617 8 лет назад +1

      bananamanuk
      that's what i mean... but i guess, looking at wikipedia, it would carry the callsign of whatever service branch that the osprey belongs to...
      was actually a navy one at one point... s-3 that bush used to fly onto a carrier

      +tjf4375 Thanks for watching my video of Air Force One arriving at London Stansted Airport. Certainly the President of the USA doesn't travel light! but what a treat it was to see such an array of aircraft. Thanks for your comment.

    couldn't they have landed it at Heathrow it has a bigger runway

    • @LeavingMyMark101

      Traindude1234 Shields The presidential aircraft (plural) causes a huge disruption (not to mention the other vehicles involved), especially when you take into account the restrictions which are in effect for AF1 itself landing. It caused a huge disruption at Heathrow on one Bush visit and since then, they have landed at Stanstead when coming to London. Not sure if it was the UK authorities or the US ones who decided that. I'd imagine a bit of both. They call each journey a mission, and that's not just because it's a military exercise. This move has actually made it into pop culture. I've seen a few movies which show Air Force One landing at Stanstead.
