    The two gull hens that you have a beautiful! I got the gull bloodline from Howard Belk. I’m in California, I have the yellow hackle and the dark hackle from him. I also have the Morgan whitehackle from John Sears from Connecticut. Do you think that they will cross well? What’s your opinion on that? Thank you.

    • @ChickenWired
      @ChickenWired  5 лет назад

      I've been happy with the cross and have heard of others making the same cross. Gull is basically another family of whitehackle so generally they should work well together.

      @ChickenWired  5 лет назад +1

      There's a lot more truth to that than you think. I see it all the time, rather than admit maybe a bird wasn't pure or a hen wasn't clean from a previous mating they just dig and dig til they find some little obscure tidbit of history that validates the oddball they produced.

      Chicken Wired im from tusa ok..in the late 90s a man name sydney regar had some really good morgan whitehackles..he crossed them with round head..your morgans look just like his i was wondering do yours come only yellow legged or pearl also?

    • @ChickenWired
      @ChickenWired  5 лет назад

      @@darengoudeau742 good to hear from ya down in Oklahoma. My line have been all yellow leg so far but I know they did come white legged as well at one time. Norman Terry's line are almost always white legged as his flock and mine Trace back to the same source pre 1950. Now how long ago the white leg was bred out of mine I can't say, they were yellow when I got them and have only been yellows in the 14 years I've had them.

      Chicken Wired ok..champ sydneys came pearl legged and yellow legged..i have the butter milk albany line..they come from a guy that was locked up with capone..their coming really big now from all the years of line breeding..they come pumpkin spangle..pumpkin with white hackles & wing feathers & a realy white spangle color..but we have had a throw back that came black & white spangle..have any of your morgans throw this color

    • @ChickenWired
      @ChickenWired  5 лет назад

      @@darengoudeau742 some of my Morgans come brassyback spangle and I had one with an almost all red breast. None of the pumpkin color has popped up in mine yet, but I know of a few old Morgan lines where it does. Friend of mind out in Indiana has a pumpkin spangled one that is a blend of my blood and some blood out of Kentucky. I think he's breeding it to some hennie and Morgan hens this year.

    I'm in east Tennessee... I would sure like to purchase a pullet. I'd like to infuse some good spangled blood into my Phil Marsh Butchers.

    • @ChickenWired
      @ChickenWired  6 лет назад +2

      Sorry for the slow reply, I had not seen your message as youtube had flagged it as potential spam for some reason. I likely won't have any pullets available this year due to the bad season I've had, however, once it cools down I will likely have some older hens to let go. But if one of your main concerns is keeping your line spangled in color you could still breed a red Marsh Butcher in because the offspring will carry that spangled gene. So once you breed the offspring back to your line you'll get back to spangled and then just stop breeding the red ones if that is your preference. I'll put up a video explaining how that works if you'd like.

    • @theamerican6724
      @theamerican6724 6 лет назад +1

      Chicken Wired
      No sir mine are Red roosters and my hens are weaton... I'd like to have a Spangled pullet or hen to line breed back to As to have a whole separate family of what I would call Spangled Butchers. And yes it appears that you are very knowledgeable on holding traits and colors... Its no big hurry for me. I would like a pullet or hen holding much white gene as possible! Thank you.

    • @ChickenWired
      @ChickenWired  6 лет назад

      Sounds good, I'll keep you posted. Interestingly Mark Marsh himself says that the original line of Butchers would throw an occasional spangle, but never a white or brass back. Those colors were introduced by another breeder.

    • @theamerican6724
      @theamerican6724 6 лет назад +1

      Chicken Wired
      Yes sir... I believe Bill Roberts done some of that. In fact I started with a Spangled Bill Roberts Cock and with 2 tightly bred Phil Marsh hens . One from Jess Moss from Newport Tennessee and the other From Bill Baumgartner which is probably a Bob Mullins hen. I've always wanted to go back to some tightly bred White Hackles... But I've saw to many so called Pure White Hackles with pea combs. Then I accidentally come upon your video... And from the get go
      I knew I had found someone who knew what he was doing... And I listened. I'd also like to say that your birds are absolutely fantastic. Thank you sir for your time and may God bless you and your birds...

Nó sẽ phụ thuộc vào mục tiêu của bạn là gì và những gì bạn có sẵn để làm việc với. I Know When The Blood Line is Wrong it Will Only Throw What it is, What, I mean, The Toppy Dom Rooster My Cousin Lisa's Husband Has, He Got 2 Toppy Grey Hens in With Him and The Toppy Dom is Really Strong in Him and It Threw All Dom's, Far as, I Know They was No Toppy Greys Throwed

    • @ChickenWired
      @ChickenWired  6 лет назад

      Toppie is a dominant trait, as is dom. Grey is also dominant but is linked by gender, so it depends on if that toppie dom rooster had a red or silver gene.
