That last Rooster you showed is a beauty! Clever idea to use leaves and pinestraw as bedding! I have alot of that lying around so might do that when I get my chickens.

I've had chickens a couple times, up to 25 the last time. It was a lot of fun watching them running around the yard. Best eggs ever too.

We use to keep some game on the yard to just have around and a few turkeys. We had some old game hens that had spurs. Saw them fight a chicken hawk off their brood dibbs couple of times. I ad a fellow tell me that in ( I think not sure of exact location) a town in Virginia . The court house has a pit in the basement . Lol.

How do Justin, nice flock we never messed with game fowl , but have had our share of layer hens . I use a large garbage can with lid and mixed 50lb/50lb cracked corn and layer mash 8-12 hens in spring they free range a 1acer yard fenced in with hog panels I picked up used . I picked up a used real cheap cement mixer and it works well for mixing chicken feeds n hog feed if that's and idea for ya. We'd sell the eggs and it payed for feed, I put a sign out by road and customers come the look on there face is priceless wen I tell new customers 1st dozen is free as long as you tell your friends how you like the eggs. We may get more next spring , depending on my resources I had with places I get extra goodies Fer free . I really wanna finish out couple hogs agian if I can get good deal on 45-55 gal of molasses and a good load of beans makes some sweet pork. I tend to go to the source ie local farmers , share some sausage, ham, bacon and it cuts cost , that's how I like ta do things 😆. Anyway figured I'd get caught up on your vids and get some chores done before hunting, I've been seeing deer but to far out for me to make a klean shot. God bless ya'll, oh how's them wall nut dyed camo holding out?

Unless you have a ton of money and selling and doing derbies its almost impossible to keep a perfectly clean house. I keep 20 stags and cocks and rotate hens breeding. I have chandler kelso hens i breed with albany kelsos and dominican kelso roosters. I have a few sweater kelso cross stags coming up thats promising. Ive got some green leg cockaroos and silver legs i have to cull. But the grey kelso babies i have are gonna be beasts.

I know it’s been 2 months but chances are tha stag doesn’t know how to mate yet just switch some hens around untill he figures it out then try again with ur 2yr old hen some of my stags act tha same way but I figured out that they don’t know how to mate yet mostly because he’s so excited so can’t get all tha way on her back and tha reason he kicks her is because when u watch a hen get toped tha rooster kinda runs in place on her back but he should figure it out if not already
