I have a new to me, old '98 S-1 and I love it. Great guitars with quality to price ratio. Pickups matter, and when swap isn't your first option, you need something that will work. Someone mentioned pickup output and that absolutely matters for note duration and pinch harmonics and the overall feel of that instrument. Just gonna get this out there. Esp designed stock pickups just don't cut it when it comes to a nice tight yet long drawn out crunchy riff or lead lines that need artificial harmonics or a singing sustain.
pick ups do matter in high gain metal , you will not hear it in a mix . but a high 16kohm will get easier pinch harmonics than a 12kohm and in that vain increase the gain within lead tones just long enough for the note to ring clearer. I had a LTD with a pegasus I recorded with but was not happy with it ( it lacked something ). I installed an invader recorded the same part and could barely tell hem apart except for the ease of harmonics and the lead notes where easier to play
I love schecter guitars- i have stiletto studio 5 bass and it is such an amazing instrument. I’m thinking of getting a pt special in the future. Btw, i thought you might be interested: over the past few months I’ve been working on a baritone partscaster. The body is finally done with its paintjob and polish, it’s inca silver. Pickguard is loaded up and ready to go as well, now I’m just doing coats of conductive paint in the cavity and then comes setting it up and then i can finally PLAY!!!!!
I have the normal normal reaper 6 with floyd rose and it rips, definitely a schecter fan. It's my first expensive guitar I bought, had it for 3 months and absolutely love it.
great guitars for the money but after 20 years of playing and owning 100+ guitars music man and esp cannot be beat however strats are still my favourite
I love my Schecters, bought my first about 18 months ago and a second shortly after. Two Super Shredders with Sustainiacs, one Strat shape and one Tele shape. Stunning guitars for the price! That Ernie C "V" is pretty stunning, I could live with that! Edit: In the UK, the Sustainiac adds around £150-£200 to the price of a Super Shredder, over the price of the twin EMG versions.
I love my Kenny Hickey signature Schecter C1 with the Sustainiac. Such a killer pickup. Can do some really cool stuff with it. Add in the fact that it’s a baritone and also has a toggle style kill switch and it’s easily one of the favorite guitars in my 80+ collection.
I am a huge Schecter fan... I have the Aaron Marshall 6-string and I have a Reaper 6 Elite on pre-order...but not one of those guitars in your video even comes with a gig bag! Schecter has to step it up in that department.
It's not new, but you need to check out the DJ Ashba signature. I have one and it is amazing. Spec'd out, killer paint job and fret inlays...I love it. Definitely one of the more unique Schecters that flies under the radar.
He77 Yeah Bro! Caught your Evil Twin video back in the day. Taking your word of the day shout out. My Schecter Sun valley shredder Zircote hardtail is an interesting one!
big fan of Schecters have you ever seen the limited addition C-1 camo schecter they put out several years ago? they only made 500 of them and only 100 of them came to the states 150 to europe 150 to canada and 100 to australia from what my understanding is of how they where sent out. I missed out on getting one when they came out but finally got a hold of one a few moths ago and man I could not be happier with it. Anyway I will be making a video about it in the future but super cool guitar.
You forgot at least one cool Metal style guitar, my man. The new John Browne Tao series. They are new for this year and are already showing up in stores. Otherwise love the channel been following you since the SLS Evil Twin video back a couple years ago.
Hey I appreciate your comment and hanging, but I covered those new John Browne guitars about month ago. Anywho thanks for hanging. I sincerely appreciate you
@Xander Raymond Charles Found it. I did see it and must have forgotten. I wasn't looking at the time for a new guitar, but I got the 6 string model showing up tomorrow after getting it from Sweetwater. I guess my excitement of a new video on Schecter guitars got the better of me.
REAPER FOR THE WIN! I have the older hard tail reaper (different pickups, nickel frets) and it SLAYS. One of my favorite guitars ever. The Reaper elite looks awesome.
Really considering buying a new schecter. Got my first one in 2003 and second one in 04. Been eyeing up an old c 7 classic online or a new reaper or something else.
"and pickups don't really matter especially in high gain metal context" I hope you were being sarcastic. I like the SLS Elite with the Hipshot hardtail. That is a cool guitar. The Reaper is a tad funny with the Hipshot HM bridge (meant for an Ibanez).
I really dig the WA Barbarian - it’s actually my favourite design. I love the look of SGs but I prefer a thicker body so these are right up my alley (I also really dig the ESP Vipers but they’re hard to come by where I live). Thanks for the Schecter review!
Absolutely man. I love all the Wylde Audio stuff. I have one each of every model and they are all so bad ass. He is definitely right about the neck though. It’s like playing a (somewhat) comfortable baseball bat. 🤣 I had the necks on my Odin Grail and Barbarian shaved down and then polished to make them much smoother and faster playing and WOW, those things are absolutely unbelievable now. Super fast and just soooo bad ass looking. And the sustain is fantastic. And of course the 81/85 EMG pair just have an amazing sound.
Ray, you gotta get your hands on one of the Dean Christian martucci VS. I'd like to see somebody actually compare it to a Gibson. I have one, haven't played too many gibsons, but I really can't tell the difference aside from the headstock. Cheers buddy!
I graduated HS in 85, I was there and i was around and Body Count was a novelty band at best. Nothing against them , I love anyone ehos out there thrashing, but Legend " is a bit much. I dind whole line a bit weird and I love Schecter guitars, i own a C1
Right there with you man. I love everything Wylde Audio has done. Have 1 each of every model. Now if we could just get the amps they started talking about years ago. 🤣🤣
If you're out there, Hisatake Shibuya, *please* buy DEAN! You're doing just a great job with Schecter, it would be awesome if Dean got the same treatment.
.83 thickness at the first fret is skinny. Like super skinny. Nowhere near baseball bat thick. My favorite neck profile is the Warmoth Boatneck. 1 inch thick all the way up the neck with a soft V profile. It is so comfortable. I have been searching like crazy for a set neck guitar with a 1st fret closer to an inch thick. Without having to spend 5 grand or more on a Gibson custom. I would love for Schecter or any of the zillions of other guitar manufacturers out there to have the balls to make a truly fat set neck guitar. It's so frustrating.
Those aren't "Black Label Society" symbols lol. Check out the Anti-Defamation League's Hate Symbol database and you might find 3 or 4 of those symbols in there. The one between the pickups is called the Valknut
Wylde guitars , I don't think so. To much art , over the top decorations. Schecter guitars are great , I own three . Nice Xander , thinks for the video .
@@xanderraymondcharles I never have had any luck with guitars made in Indonesia. I only stick to USA made guitars. Not saying there are the best, they just tend to not have issues and a better resale value.
I play with 7 string Schecter and I love it. Price quality ratio is great and with few mods you can make it easily even better! 💪🏼
me too! Also my bass is a Schecter! 🤘🤘
4:50 that is the most Schecter looking guitar I think Schecter has ever dropped, and I'm in love with it.
brings me back to 2005 asap
Schecter needs more HH PT options
100%
The pt I have is wayyy to heavy. No body contours.

Just pre-ordered my Wylde Audio Ironworks Barbarian this morning. !!!!!

I like Schecter guitars and own a few. With the prices they are asking now, they should include a case.
Case schamase, I’ll buy a cheapo on Amazon
The Zakk Wylde guitars are a little out there for me, but I appreciate how he puts maple necks on just about everything.
That Blue Reaper 6 Elite with the Floyd looks so cool !!

That Ernie C guitar is so tempting. I haven’t had a guitar with Fishmans in it yet. All EMGs, Duncan’s, and some Dylans.
It's probably the only signature guitar I've ever wanted.

I like the wine red 🤣 BUT if you’re gonna be classy with the wine, you gotta have gold hardware and be super classy 🥳
The pickups in the reaper look like bass pickups. Like mini music man stingray humbuckers.
