I've never used retinol before, and didn't know much about it. Recently I've been doing more research on how to take better care of my skin (I have fairly bad eczema) and hair. Everyone I've seen online recommends using retinol for helping your skin, sadly I can't use it due to my eczema. It can cause breakouts and itchiness because it's a skin irritant for me. Make sure to do research that suits your skin type. Exfoliating every day isn't good for certain skin types, and if you live in a cold environment you might not want to do it every day or more than once a week because it may cause dry skin issues. Obviously that depends on the person's skin, as well as diet and environment, but do what is best for you. I'd highly recommend finding some good dermatologists who have YT channels or dermatologist websites that can help with recommending good tips and products.

Like Laura in the sky, less IS more big skincare mistakes that absolutely ruin your skin: using too many sc products, it should be one cleanser, one serum, one moisturizer and then one sunscreen to prevent irritation and acne, over exfoliating, and if you’re a tween, don’t cleanse your face twice a day do it when you’re 13-17 so it won’t dry out your skin too much. This might not be right for your skin, but this is just based on my experience. Edit: and don’t forget to wear spf 40+ sunscreen!

Less products you use on your face, the better. A cleanser, moisturizer, and then occasion acne treatment should be all you need. I also found that gua shaing your face brings blood into your face, causing smaller acne spots to disappear quicker (ofc always wash your gua sha before use or else you will break out from the bacteria build up). I'm not a pro, these are just things that worked for me ;D
make sure you remember that everyone had different needs for their skin. i for example, only use micellar cleansing water to remove my makeup, moisturizer in the morning and in the evening. i used to wash my face with cold water in the morning and the evenings but found my face being better when i stopped washing my face.
Can you pls make a video for teen skincare!! As a teen it’s really hard to find the best skincare routine for yourself- it would be great if you recommend us some products
@@mynameisnoel retinal takes a few months to start working. I believe it says give it up to like 6 months. What it's doing is reducing how much oil skin is producing combine it with a moisturizer and something like niacinamide so you don't get dry and irritated. Also use sunscreen
Thats true girl. I blindly bought some hype expensive skincare stuffs from Sephora thinking it is the best judging from the price, but it worsen my skin. Then I doing research about the ingredient, now I am happy with some affordable Korean product. Not every pricey product do wonder, just because the brand spent more money on marketing.
My friend got me a youth to the people cleanser. I was shocked to see that it was $40!!! I normally use a $10 one that works fine. However, what I’ve noticed is that the expensive cleanser has lasted me all year. I use it every day and there’s still some left. Sometimes I wonder if it’s more cost effective (for me) to get the expensive cleanser vs repurchasing my cheaper one a few times a year 🤔 Make sure to think about long term costs!
If an expensive cleanser is what works the best for you, go for it! I used the CeraVe cleanser and it dried out my skin. The YTTP cleanser that you also showed worked the best for me.
My skincare as a 12 year old - 1) cleanser (exfoliate twice a month) 2) ice 3) Hyaluronic hydrating serum ( I know it is unnecessary, I only use it twice a week) 4) moisturizer 5) sunscreen
My skincare routine: - Clinique acne solution foaming cleanser (or the face washing bar) - Clinique acne solution clarifying lotion - Clinique acne solution clearing cream - Roll my face w a rose quartz roller every other days (I put it in my skincare fridge so it’s nice and cold) - Mario Badescu lavender or rose water spray for a glow I also exfoliate 3 times a week (usually the days I use the roller)

My skin has never been res before now my cheeks are always red from years and it doesn’t go away . My skin was totally fine until i discovered skincare and watched a lot videos on youtube 😂 and buyd myself creams , cleanser , toners for 850 euro and after 3 months itching and redness came and now it just stays red on the cheeks.
You maybe allergic to an ingredient in something you're using or maybe you're using something that's too harsh for your skin barrier because that's not normal
Mine as a 13 year old: Morning: Ice water La mer cleanser (my mom bought it and i don‘t wanna waste money so i use it) Moisturizer Facial lotion Spf 30 Night: Oil cleanser La mer cleanser Moisturizer Facial lotion Lip balm
Look at retinol especially I had a really bad chemical reaction to using it for some small acne on my face. It turned out bad and my face is still sensitive after not using it for a while. Be careful!
Same. I had a perfect clear skin since forever and now my face is full of bumps. My dermatologist said I have an allergic reaction to the retinol in my serum.
As a person living in Qatar 🇶🇦 the CeraVe products are like usually higher than 150 so like I would stick with other products but if you use it no hate and please no negative comments
I also just wanted to mention that if you break out when using a new products, that is totally normal and after a month it should get better. It will be worse before it gets better.
Just gonna say exfoliating on a daily basis AND using a retinol at the same time is actually pretty harsh for your skin, so you should probably just choose one or the other unless your skin is super strong- but both together can easily destroy your skin barrier
this is my night routine🌙 (btw i know it’s simple but it’s kept my skin clear and healthy) FOR MY DRY SKIN - wash my face only twice a day with dove bar soap - pat my face gently with towel - use qv lotion on my face - vaseline on my lips and t-zone (where my skin gets dry) - drink water before bed and that’s it!!
hey!! i know this skincare routine works well for you but i would suggest using a moisturizer instead of vaseline. vaseline tends to clog pores bc it’s not water based (maybe try aquaphor or a cheap moisturizer!!)
To be very honest my skincare routine is just using a facewash and then going in with a moisturizer....I don't use sunscreen, infact never have used it since my childhood days. But my skin is sooo good till now...i haven't had any skin issues since birth(touchwood). My skin is very normal and it has a glow even without using sunscreen and other stuffs;))
@@michaelat.1697 I know sunscreens are important nowadays. I am just saying that sunscreens do not suit my skin as every sunscreen I tried in my childhood days made my skin extremely oily and dark. So I stopped using it and my skin has become normal and pretty good. Never even faced any minor skin related issue till now;))
Skin cancer can take a while to appear though so it’s still much better to wear your sunscreen and not take the risk for later on (and same with your mom)!
do whatever works best for your skin. for me personally, my skin requires exfoliating products everyday because it’s the only thing that helps me with my deep pimples and acne.
I am a cosmetic scientist and I can advice you for free, exfoliating daily will damage your skin barrier. Remember exfoliating is removing the top thin dead layer cells. Now Imagine doing it daily, that thin layer will be removed to a point where the exfoliator is now chipping into you healthy skin. Now that's where the problems begin.
My skin routine ✌: put water on my face pat my face dry aloe vera jel on my acne scars(not oil because i have oily skin) banana boat sunscreen(because im a child and the one i have its lightweight and non greasy and good for acne pron skin i did moi research) *brush my teeth to let it set in* cerave pm moisturizer(yes i use pm in the morning its perfect) scrub hot water on my lips 2-3 times, scrub off the dryness, vaseline(actually works to make my lips not chapped and g l o s s y) and thats it! i only cleanse after im done showering which is every night and i actually use a baby shampoo but holy if u scrub it well with your hands and then add moisturizer it makes it so soft-
i switch between my two cleansers: A foam cleanser and just a normal like scrub cleanser. I switch between 2 specific moisturizers (after washing my face) -one is for calming it -the other is to soften and tone I also do face masks once a week (i’m 13 yrs old so i can’t constantly ask my mom for face masks)
No it’s not bad you should be cleansing daily and exfoliating with a scrub at home is fine to do once a week to remove build up and dead skin don’t forget to moisturize daily and apply sunscreen during the day, you can use a toner after cleansing and during the day to refreshen up your skin and help with oil buildup if you have oily skin. Don’t forget to see an Esthetician who can help you choose the best skincare products for your skin type to get the best results for your skin tik tok is NOT your skin care specialist!
I used to stop using the product because I would break out with anything ..now that I know what actual dermatologist have said well it’s working out just fine … following instructions especially using sunscreen that’s one thing I regret not using when I was younger. Now 45 I use it daily just started this year… don’t be me …
My recommendation is do a sandwich with retinol as a beginner. Meaning, last step of moisturizer + retinol + moisturizer and slow is better than using high percentage. Cheers!!
1. Exfoliation should only be done twice a week, NEVER incorporate it into your daily routine. 2. Cerave is hella expensive here, so yeah. Cerave isn't the cheaper option for me 😂
I would say if you compare cerave to other American brands (Drunk elephant for example can be $80 or more) it’s a good deal. Especially for the amount you get
Expensive doesn't equal better. Research is always key to everything. Always look at the company/product reputation. And, if you can, try to get samples. The sad thing is that people tend to see the high price tag as a status symbol.
My skincare as a 15 years old :> 1.micellar cleansing water 2.pure foaming cleanser 3.toner 4.vitamin c essence 5.moisturiser 6.sunscreen spf 50+ for the night routine, is the same step but without sunscreen, and if I'm not feeling lazy ill use face mask or eye mask after applying vitamin c essence 😊

retinol has many side affects when starting to use it including more acne, redness, dry or peely skin, and slight irritation, but that just means its working. it takes 4-6 weeks for your skin to adjust to retinol and you should start out using a small amount of it in your pm routine, the results are worth it to a lot of people

I also found that gua shaing your face brings blood into your face, causing smaller acne spots to disappear quicker (ofc always wash your gua sha before use or else you will break out from the bacteria build up). I'm not a pro, these are just things that worked for me ;D
Damaged skin barrier I am getting bumps if I use any thing what to do
make sure you remember that everyone had different needs for their skin.
i for example, only use micellar cleansing water to remove my makeup, moisturizer in the morning and in the evening.
i used to wash my face with cold water in the morning and the evenings but found my face being better when i stopped washing my face.
Garnier micellar water right? I use it. It's the best
Can you pls make a video for teen skincare!! As a teen it’s really hard to find the best skincare routine for yourself- it would be great if you recommend us some products
@@santa5240thanks for the amazing tips!
*me applying retinal blindly without knowing anything about it as I’m watching this video*
😗
Same. I don’t even see a difference with my skin before I started retinol but I keep applying it 😂
@@mynameisnoel retinal takes a few months to start working. I believe it says give it up to like 6 months. What it's doing is reducing how much oil skin is producing combine it with a moisturizer and something like niacinamide so you don't get dry and irritated. Also use sunscreen
Please don’t. It can badly damage ur skin.
@@mynameisnoel retinol makes your skin worse before it gets better. You will see improvement but you have to use it for a long time.
Thats true girl. I blindly bought some hype expensive skincare stuffs from Sephora thinking it is the best judging from the price, but it worsen my skin. Then I doing research about the ingredient, now I am happy with some affordable Korean product. Not every pricey product do wonder, just because the brand spent more money on marketing.
cerave for me is really amazing products it calm my skin and it really works 😍❤️rid my pimples and less breakouts
Same with me
Same, I had to go a week without using it once and my skin SUFFERED lol
I love that cleanser
My friend got me a youth to the people cleanser. I was shocked to see that it was $40!!! I normally use a $10 one that works fine. However, what I’ve noticed is that the expensive cleanser has lasted me all year. I use it every day and there’s still some left. Sometimes I wonder if it’s more cost effective (for me) to get the expensive cleanser vs repurchasing my cheaper one a few times a year 🤔
Make sure to think about long term costs!
Useful info thank you !! You’re gorgeous btw💜
Some basic tips for clear skin is also washing your pillow cases regularly and lemon water will do wonders for your skin 👍🏻
How to use lemon water please!
Lemon or any citric acid for that matter shouldn't go on your face
If an expensive cleanser is what works the best for you, go for it! I used the CeraVe cleanser and it dried out my skin. The YTTP cleanser that you also showed worked the best for me.
here in Brazil CeraVe IS the more expensive cleanser kkkk but it's so good it's worth investing in it anyways
My skincare as a 12 year old -
1) cleanser (exfoliate twice a month)
2) ice
3) Hyaluronic hydrating serum ( I know it is unnecessary, I only use it twice a week)
4) moisturizer
5) sunscreen
My skincare routine:
- Clinique acne solution foaming cleanser (or the face washing bar)
- Clinique acne solution clarifying lotion
- Clinique acne solution clearing cream
- Roll my face w a rose quartz roller every other days (I put it in my skincare fridge so it’s nice and cold)
- Mario Badescu lavender or rose water spray for a glow
I also exfoliate 3 times a week (usually the days I use the roller)
Thank you for posting this. It’s dangerous how much people will believe stuff they see. From totally uneducated untrained people. People who don’t work in the field.
You screw up with the wrong skincare you’ll have permanent damage. And I promise young people YOU WILL CARE HOW YOU LOOK WHEN YOU’RE OLDER!
These are 3 great tips!
It’s about ingredients not cost
That exact one costs 400 pounds in my country which is CRAZY expensive for a cleanser 😭
Tbh these tips can go for anything
My skin has never been res before now my cheeks are always red from years and it doesn’t go away . My skin was totally fine until i discovered skincare and watched a lot videos on youtube 😂 and buyd myself creams , cleanser , toners for 850 euro and after 3 months itching and redness came and now it just stays red on the cheeks.
You maybe allergic to an ingredient in something you're using or maybe you're using something that's too harsh for your skin barrier because that's not normal
Mine as a 13 year old:
Morning:
Ice water
La mer cleanser (my mom bought it and i don‘t wanna waste money so i use it)
Moisturizer
Facial lotion
Spf 30
Night:
Oil cleanser
La mer cleanser
Moisturizer
Facial lotion
Lip balm
Look at retinol especially I had a really bad chemical reaction to using it for some small acne on my face. It turned out bad and my face is still sensitive after not using it for a while. Be careful!
Same. I had a perfect clear skin since forever and now my face is full of bumps. My dermatologist said I have an allergic reaction to the retinol in my serum.
When I got a cheaper skin care.
It was really recommended!!
Instead of getting the pricy one.
✨ it r u i n e d my s k i n ✨
700th like!!! 😁
YESSS!! That is such an important tip, so many people drop there products because they “breakout” when in reality, their skin is just purging.
Just gonna say exfoliating on a daily basis AND using a retinol at the same time is actually pretty harsh for your skin, so you should probably just choose one or the other unless your skin is super strong- but both together can easily destroy your skin barrier
this is my night routine🌙
(btw i know it’s simple but it’s kept my skin clear and healthy)
FOR MY DRY SKIN
- wash my face only twice a day with dove bar soap
- pat my face gently with towel
- use qv lotion on my face
- vaseline on my lips and t-zone (where my skin gets dry)
- drink water before bed
and that’s it!!
hey!! i know this skincare routine works well for you but i would suggest using a moisturizer instead of vaseline. vaseline tends to clog pores bc it’s not water based (maybe try aquaphor or a cheap moisturizer!!)
I love alot of the cerave products but the dark blue cleanser broke me out in a rash so i stick with the one that you use :)
Love Cerva foaming face wash.
It’s the best.
And expensive
and animal tested
POV I was so happy when I heard the first one but then realising the expensive ones for me are the cheap ones
Yes but sunscreen prevents uv damage, fast ageing, skin spots and cancer! :) It isn‘t only there for a glow
@@michaelat.1697 I know sunscreens are important nowadays. I am just saying that sunscreens do not suit my skin as every sunscreen I tried in my childhood days made my skin extremely oily and dark. So I stopped using it and my skin has become normal and pretty good. Never even faced any minor skin related issue till now;))
How old are you? Sun damage on skin will not show til you’re older.
@@jellyt8767 age doesn't matter tbh. My mom is 50 and she hasn't used sunscreen till date. Her skin is absolutely perfect;))
My skin routine ✌:
put water on my face
pat my face dry
aloe vera jel on my acne scars(not oil because i have oily skin)
banana boat sunscreen(because im a child and the one i have its lightweight and non greasy and good for acne pron skin i did moi research)
*brush my teeth to let it set in*
cerave pm moisturizer(yes i use pm in the morning its perfect)
scrub hot water on my lips 2-3 times, scrub off the dryness, vaseline(actually works to make my lips not chapped and g l o s s y)
and thats it!
i only cleanse after im done showering which is every night and i actually use a baby shampoo but holy if u scrub it well with your hands and then add moisturizer it makes it so soft-
i switch between my two cleansers:
A foam cleanser and just a normal like scrub cleanser.
I switch between 2 specific moisturizers (after washing my face)
-one is for calming it
-the other is to soften and tone
I also do face masks once a week
(i’m 13 yrs old so i can’t constantly ask my mom for face masks)
I would recommend not to use physical exfoliators like scrubs because over time they can cause small scratches on the skin
“Instead invest in a product that will stay on your skin for longer” girl it’s a cleanser u going to wash it off 💀
She means exactly that you shouldn’t spend that much money on a cleanser and instead spend money for other products that’ll stay on the face longer
My skin loves retinol. I can use it every night without issues. I never had to slowly introduce it or use low strength. Everyones skin is different
Is it bad that I use regular face wash then sometimes I exfoliate, and that I use a toner at the end?
No it’s not bad you should be cleansing daily and exfoliating with a scrub at home is fine to do once a week to remove build up and dead skin don’t forget to moisturize daily and apply sunscreen during the day, you can use a toner after cleansing and during the day to refreshen up your skin and help with oil buildup if you have oily skin. Don’t forget to see an Esthetician who can help you choose the best skincare products for your skin type to get the best results for your skin tik tok is NOT your skin care specialist!
I'm from Bangladesh🇧🇩
CeraVe is super expensive in my country Bangladesh 🇧🇩
It’s called purging… u going to break out with any product if u have a problematic face !!!
Thn what should we do
I used to stop using the product because I would break out with anything ..now that I know what actual dermatologist have said well it’s working out just fine … following instructions especially using sunscreen that’s one thing I regret not using when I was younger. Now 45 I use it daily just started this year… don’t be me …
@@idaliareyes4456 I am getting bumps from moisturiser also having damaged skin barrier 😥
@@self_lovecare I have patches hyperpigmentation bad
My recommendation is do a sandwich with retinol as a beginner. Meaning, last step of moisturizer + retinol + moisturizer and slow is better than using high percentage. Cheers!!
1. Exfoliation should only be done twice a week, NEVER incorporate it into your daily routine.
2. Cerave is hella expensive here, so yeah. Cerave isn't the cheaper option for me 😂
i'm guessing you're from south east asia
I would say if you compare cerave to other American brands (Drunk elephant for example can be $80 or more) it’s a good deal. Especially for the amount you get
Expensive doesn't equal better. Research is always key to everything. Always look at the company/product reputation. And, if you can, try to get samples. The sad thing is that people tend to see the high price tag as a status symbol.
My skincare as a 15 years old :>
1.micellar cleansing water
2.pure foaming cleanser
3.toner
4.vitamin c essence
5.moisturiser
6.sunscreen spf 50+
for the night routine, is the same step but without sunscreen, and if I'm not feeling lazy ill use face mask or eye mask after applying vitamin c essence 😊
About retinol please let me know about your research! And tell us
I never once use sunscreen till now i 25yo
That make my skin have a lot of blackhead, dark spot, wrinkle and so oily. (Cause i never use sunscreen my skin look older than my age)
I used to beauty clinic to treatment and use what they gave me, its been years but have no result
And then in my 25yo i realise i need to fix my face problem
I bought sunscreen that suit my face problem (for oily face)
I bought loreal paris revitalift anti wrinkle + firming moisturizer fragrance free set
And turn out its really fix my skin problem no breakout when i first try it
Im glad i found skincare that can solve my face problem
Now my face much much better
retinol has many side affects when starting to use it including more acne, redness, dry or peely skin, and slight irritation, but that just means its working. it takes 4-6 weeks for your skin to adjust to retinol and you should start out using a small amount of it in your pm routine, the results are worth it to a lot of people
My skincare routine as a 12 yr old
(Btw plz no hate this is what works for me)(Also I have really bad acne)
1. Cleanser (Byoma cleanser)
2.Toner (glow recipe or bounce back)

4. Moisturizer (Bubble moisturizer or byoma moisturizer)
5: Sumscreen (Supergoop unseen sunscreen or Byoma sunscreen or bubble sunscreen)
6: Lip gloss( Laniege or ushers)
