Quincy is probably the MOST VERSATILE music producer in the world. What blew my mind was that he produced the main song in the Austin Powers movies and "Ironside" that was featured in the movie Kill Bill..... Trying to get some TV and Movie placements as well. Dope!

Just turned 53 this month. I went into album mode too. Producing, writing, rapping, singing, recording, mixing and mastering on my own. I felt old in the early 2000s running my studio in Orlando. Now, I don't care. Don't have to worry about what people think of my age in relation to my music. I'd rather just produce, but artists have to know you can do a project. So, I write and record as well as produce to stay sharp. Old, young. Doesn't matter. If its in you, its in you.

I will be 44 at the end of the month. I have a wife and my kids are in their 20’s. I have a day job going on 22 years and my wife is very supportive. What I learned is things take time. I sound better than I ever did when I first started at 15. All I did and still do is study. Read books, manuals, (remember SCRATCH Magazine) RUclips, then finally school.
I am an artist but I am focused on music production and mixing. Worked with many artists and now working on sync music. I never thought my music would open so many doors. Especially when I got discouraged by so many people throughout the years. That respect is definitely earned through hard work. GUYS you have to understand QUINCY JONES was a MUSiCIAN before he ever learned how to be a PRODUCER. Most of the music today in RAP/HIP-HOP (THERE'S A DIFFERENCE) is BEAT MAKING not MUSIC PRODUCTION. I've been able to travel abroad as a musician and have EXPERIENCES that my money could not afford. My advice to every producer/beat-maker is to learn an INSTRUMENT and learn to play MUSIC you'll never be out of work. THEN... do your COMPUTER MUSIC OR your DRUM MACHINE MUSIC. PEACE! GREAT CONTENT BY THE WAY BISHOP BOLO!

Then that beatmaker had placement for a lot of artists in a Quick time after his first placement.

There are plenty of successful artists/creators that are just seeing success well over the age of 50. Also, you have 70 year old artists that labels no longer invest in re-inventing themselves, releasing new self-produced albums, getting residency and touring. Being a creator is a lifelong mission. Thanks for sharing this brother..... PS.. I think I missed you by 15 minutes at MixNik, lol.

Late 30's here. And my focus shifted as i've gotten older. It's no longer about trying to be some big Super Producer and more about working with younger artist and helping them Pop. There is no age limit, producers are meant to be behind the scenes anyways, not in the spotlight. Perfectly content working on a unique sound to bring to the right artist.

I am a sync music producer in my mid 40s. I got my first decent royalty cheque recently. Its definately doable. I also have a family to look after, so its not like I have all the time. No excuses. Plus Reason gang here. Love Reaaon synths and fx inside of Ableton but started out many years ago on Reason 1.1

That was great food for thought! I'm 60, and even though I've dabbled in making music for a long time, I'm able to spend much more time doing that. I have a great mentor who I'm doing one-on-one with who has been a music producer and DJ and is known in the music scene I supported for over three decades. As a DJ for over 20 years, and also a radio DJ for a 15-year period, I relish using my lived experience to finally get to create, both with software and hardware. I'm starting my second year in a music technology certification program at a community college, and will soon enter a music technology program at the the local university, my alma mater. I'm not bragging at all, but just want to encourage folks that it's never too late. Indeed, technology has made both music production and DJing so much more within reach. I know pros going in their 50s and 60s who are still at it, and I know a few who plan to retire. In the end, if it's something you want to do, I say do it before you have regrets about not doing it. Thanks for this, Bolo; speaking from the heart, like you did, is always a public speaking asset. Do it, to it! Peace.

Started learning in the pandemic. Took a year to settle on a genre I was happy to create in. I'm 41 and it was a lifelong dream to make music and released an album last week.
It helped me escape alcoholism and gave me a hobby that fills my time.
Thanks for making this video, it is really great to hear at 41 I'm not over the music making hill.

Nothing wrong with the age bro. Being in touch with the pulse of good music is ageless and timeless. When you’re older, you’re wiser in your approach and don’t think that you know everything. I’m in my 50s and still learn. I know the history of the styles someone thinks is new and know the hardware that was used to create it. Keep doing what you’re doing and keep sharing wisdom!

My grand kids love being with me while I'm playing with Ableton. First thing they ask when they come over is "can we do music?" Bringing up a new generation of musicians makes me feel better than actually producing tracks.

The Alchemist has been making dope beats since the 90’s and look where he is now. Working with Kendrick, Drake, etc as an underground producer and I would argue making even better beats than his work in the 90’s. Could say the same about Premo and many more older producers.
