    nice work, how do you get the torch to pause after each time it finishes a cut?

    I got the adapter for the hypertherm and I’m also running a machine torch and I can’t get it to work

    good cutter. I have it on my 5x10 table. I have a THC and never use it. im going to swap out my 45xp for a everlast 82i with the table torch and built in THC .

    Any noticable electronic noise from the Hypertherm plasma cutter, or have they added shielding for that model ?
    Informative, and fun videos. Keep'em coming Bud.
    Take care

      I think there was actually less noise with this plasma over the Razorcut but we did add a few ferrite beads to all of the cables that would be susceptible to interference so it wasn't necessarily a like-for-like comparison. We've since upgraded tables to an XR and I really need to do a video about it and our new building and some of projects we've got going right now.

    Would you say for a beginner the razorweld 45 is ok? or is the hypertherm totally worth it for the speed / no warping factor? im about to pull the trigger on a crossfire and cant decide on a plasma cutter. I really want to keep the cost down to start out, but Also dont want to buy the wrong tool. thanks for any input.

      I think it really has a lot to do with your use case. If you're primarily going to be cutting signs and artwork with it then the Razorweld is perfectly adequate. If it's going to be for personal use it's solid. If you're doing a bunch of runs of stuff or needing to cut thicker materials where your machine is really going to be working hard then it's probably inadequate. The consumables for the Razorweld are really cheap which is good because you have to replace them often and it needs SUUUUUPER dry air. Total cost of ownership of one of these is really appealing due to the low cost of entry for the table itself but once you've added a water table, laptop mount, design software, air dryer, fittings and hoses (for the love of god don't get those Home Depot orange hoses), pressure regulator, the XL kit (you'll get this eventually) and even the Razorweld you're in the $3k+ range. There is a $1500 difference at least between the Razorweld and the Hypertherm so if you know you'll be able to make back your money after dropping 5 large on the full setup I'd go with the bigger machine.

    Great info and cool stuff your shop is making. Subscribed. Ordered my Crossfire pro in December but waiting for it to ship. I ordered the razor 45 and think it will be fine for what i plan to do for now. After watching this vid and a few others im concerned about what i might try and do in the future and wish i had just upgraded from the beginning. I think I may have time to cancel the Razor and order a Hypertherm. When you ordered yours did you specify for the machine torch style and do you know what other items I would need to make it work on a new setup. I believe my setup is coming with a THC. Did you replace the actual mount for the different machine torch. Will the gear drive match up the Langmuir THC.. Thanks

    • @TheRockabillyArts
      @TheRockabillyArts  3 года назад +2

      I think the Razor is fine for most things honestly and it's not a bad machine by any means (we still use it to cut sheets down to size) but it just became so unreliable on larger pieces with false starts that I was wasting too much time and material trying to fix it. If you have a really good air dryer (don't get the Harbor Freight one - there is another video on my channel called 'my love hate relationship with Harbor Freight' that goes into that) you might have better luck.
      MAYBE if I had the THC (still waiting on Langmuir to offer one for the older models as alluded to on the forums) the Razor might have been better. Your Pro model should have the new THC built in. I did have to get a machine torch mount and wiring harness. I'm guessing that the THC that comes with the new ones doesn't use the gear on the side of the torch head so much as just a z-axis gantry?

      @@TheRockabillyArts I just bought the Hypertherm. I installed it in the Langmuir pro with the stick opposed to the gun. I noticed the consumable head goes in much further than the razorweld hand torch that came with it. How can I get the z axis up? It seems to be far too low. I have torch height control thanks.

    Keep playing with your speeds you can get the dros down to almost nothing maybe just a little in the corners where the torch slows just a bit

    • @TheRockabillyArts
      @TheRockabillyArts  6 месяцев назад

      It doesn't need much horsepower to run the FireControl software so you could probably get away with a decent tablet with a touch screen on it. We've actually retired this table and upgraded to a Langmuir XR (4'x8' capacity) which has its own computer and touchscreen so I don't remember what we were using.

  • @rsz90182
    @rsz90182 Год назад

    You don't have a Z axis for THC? Or because you have so much water that it doesn't warp.

    • @TheRockabillyArts
      @TheRockabillyArts  Год назад

      We upgraded tables last year ( I need to post a video of it) to a Crossfire XR which does have Z and THC. We were pretty lucky with the old table that the lack of THC didn't warp too much but you really had to keep the machine moving at a good clip to keep heat from building up. Most of our signs are 16 or 18 gauge steel so if you run them fast enough it's not a problem.

  • @jeremyb7611
    @jeremyb7611 3 года назад

    This is interesting as they are both rated for a clean-cut of 5/8" and severance of 1". I would understand it having a better duty cycle given the cost difference. I wonder if you didn't' just have an internal issue with your razorweld? The Hypertherm obviously is a higher end brand., but I wouldn't expect that much of an outwrite issue cutting 3/8" mild steel.

    • @TheRockabillyArts
      @TheRockabillyArts  3 года назад

      The Razor did 'ok' but if the air isn't perfectly dry and with brand new consumables you'd get only a few hours of total run time before it'd start false starting. Once it was running it performed well but I couldn't rely on it to fire every time. The taper on the Razor vs the Hyper on thicker cuts is NOTABLE. The Hyper is just an absolute monster and I can run it 300% faster feed rate with no problems. The only issue I have with it is that it cost more than the freaking table with accessories and laptop put together :)

    The fire control. I have seen people use it with straight lines between cuts. Can you make it go other ways. For example you don't want to go over the top of a cut you just made because of tip ups. Every screen shot I have seen is straight line between cuts which makes no sense to me.

    • @TheRockabillyArts
      @TheRockabillyArts  Год назад

      On files that we make a lot of I spend a fair bit of time making sure that collision isn't a problem and generally work from the inside out to avoid hitting tip ups. Sometimes it's unavoidable. Our new table (I'll hopefully be posting a video of it soon) has a pretty good bit of z-axis so I'll retract the head pretty far when doing rapid transitions.
