  • Welcome back to Part #3 of this 2005 Suzuki GSXR 1000 transmission replacement. In this video we install a good used transmission & just toss the old one in the recycling bin. I reinstall the motor & fire it up. But is that sound still there? Just have to wait till the end to find out if i have to do it all over again.

Just wanted to say, thank you so much for such an epic video. I've been building b series Hondas for a few years but have 0 experience with motorcycles. So when i bought an 05 gsxr 750 that was missing 5th and 6th gear i figured, ill figure it out. Well to my surprise my maintenance manual does not do a very good job of explaining the transmission swap. I've researched and watched enough videos over the last 2 weeks to be able to supplement what the manual seems to be lacking, however i did not have a super confident feeling going into installing the new transmission. I just had to many small questions. I got the old trans out just fine, and made lots of notes and took lots of pictures, but still just seemed to be missing the step 1. 2. 3. Of installing the new. However after watching your video, taking ss along the way and making notes of the answers you gave to questions i had, i feel super confident in me getting the new transmission installed tomorrow, and being back on the road. And that's 100% thanks to your no corners cut step by step video and experienced explanations. So thank you for the epic content and fantastic job at sharing your knowledge and expertise. I look forward to shouting your page out when i post my video of my first ride after the install tomorrow.

I'm absolutely pumped that my videos are helping you out. I'm actually in the process of filming a 2006 Gsxr 750 transmission replacement right now. It's not as easy as the 2005 but still not a huge pain on the butt. Let me know how it turns out & if you have any questions feel free to ask. I'll do my best to answer you back ASAP.

Great video series. I have a 2006 1000 with under 4700 miles. It has a low-end rattle and the clutch won't disengage with the lever pulled. Trying to find an ethical, competent, responsive mechanic in the Boise area. I had one mech tell me it would cost over $6K to split the cases. He said replace the engine. I'm relieved to know it SHOULD cost far less than that. Thank you.

That could be just a simple adjustment on some of the clutch components. Yeah 6K you can go out & buy a nice used 1000cc

    Thanks for the interesting series.
On my 750K6 the gear sensor always reads 2 in 1st gear until it warms up a bit, than it works correctly.

Hmmm that's interesting. Usually if they start reading like that that are starting to fail. They just get wore out over time.

Hi, I have recently purchased a srad 600 1997, and some strange noises is coming from the gearbox. The knocking sound comes when I go into 2 gear and I can feel the vibration to.
The question is were can I find the service manual for disassembly the gearbox

Is it possible to pull the transmission without dropping the motor ?

    • @limitlesspowersportsservic3394
      @limitlesspowersportsservic3394  10 месяцев назад

I do believe it is possible but putting it all back together & making sure the transmission bearing centering pins & shift forks are all perfectly lined up so you can just put the bottom case back on would be a crazy royal pain in the butt.

Hey sir, so you only put rtv on the clutch rod gasket and sprocket gasket and not in that middle spot that’s open between them? Just did this job but now having second guesses on if I did the rtv wrong.

You can put it all around the oil seal if you want to but its not needed. I did also crank case gasket sealer on the case half's but only where the service manual said to. I also don't u RTV I use suzuki gasket sealer. They have 2 different types. One is for crank case & the other is for side case gaskets if needed.

@@limitlesspowersportsservic3394I didn’t mean to talk about the seals having the Suzuki bond, I meant the spot between the two seals that calls for no gasket that you skip over, it’s the one that only has a spot for one bolt. It doesn’t say to put any there but I don’t see how it wouldn’t leak. Also some performance shop that deals with bikes had told me to use permeatex 90 minute gasket as they would use that when he worked at the dealer, so that’s what I had to use because I kept getting expired Suzuki bond. Thank you for your time too!

I have a 2004 gsxr 1000 I’ve noticed that my transmission wines just like the one in the video when riding, I assume that’s normal? And the top end sounds pretty loud for my liking I don’t know the last time my valves have been adjusted

It has straight cut gears and they will sound louder than helical cut gears.

Hey, I have a 07 gsxr 600 and my chain broke while riding. In the process, it bent my push rod and broke the water pump. Had all that fixed but now when I start my bike, the clutch engages but the bike won't move no matter what gear it's in. I raised the back tire off the ground and the wheel spins but does not move faster when twisting the throttle. Added a new clutch cable but that didn't help. Checked the throttle cables and can't see anything wrong. Removed the clutch but didn't see anything out of order and no teeth are missing or broken. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I'm dying here!! Lol

Did you readjust the clutch push rod adjuster in the clutch pack? The clutch pack could be disengaged causing it to slip.

@limitlesspowersportsservic3394 no, I've never heard of that before honestly. I will see if I can find that part and adjust. Thanks 😊

Well this particular one was used for drag racing before they put it back to stock. Thats what destroyed the transmission in this one. We raced these bike back in 2005 & 2006 in the AMA Superbike series & I never had an issue. How many miles does yours have on it & have you ever found any debris in the oil?

52000 miles, 84000km...unknown history...you can hear in this video how engine or exhaust maybe change tone at 39:40-39:43...rrroooaaaarrrr. my k5 do this under light throttle from exactly 3000rpm up to 3800rpm. ipone 1'w40 now from previous owner but i want to change it to 10w50 motul. my bike run hot in the city ride.@@limitlesspowersportsservic3394

It could be a shift fork hitting on a gear. Does it come & go? Will it do it more if you lean the bike over to one side? My R1 did that. The forks banging around & hitting gears & would do it when on the stand in neutral but stop when I stood it up, & sounded awful when riding. Rebuilt the tranny & good as new. Forks were scared bad from hitting gears.

i have this noise only when riding, 3200-4000rpm. not without throttle, only when accelerating or steady speed
