- This is what happens when you choose to help Dimentio defeat Count Bleck in Chapter 8-3. Sorry no voice acting for this clip just yet, but in due time I will voice this clip.

You know what I think the scariest part of this Game Over is? How inconspicuous it seems. This was the only one of Super Paper Mario's bad endings where I had to actually stop and think about the decision.
As I remember, we didn't know at this point that Dimentio had no problems with the whole "destroy all worlds" part of Bleck's plan. He painted himself very well as a full traitor who actually wanted nothing to do with the entirety of said plan, when in reality he told a bunch of half-truths to get the brothers (and us) on his side as muscle against Bleck. He and the heroes really did have the same basic goal to stop the count's design so I thought his offer looked plausible and far unlike the time where you could suddenly bend your knee in eternal servitude to the Shadow Queen. Quite obviously not the right choice and I'm certain nobody fell for that Game Over by mistake.
It just goes to show how fantastic and deep this game's story became, honestly. Sure, Dimentio could have had ulterior motives for opposing Bleck (and as we know now, he did), but he could have instead been a truly genuine detector like TEC turned out to be. That's what made him such an effective villain for me; they left _just_ enough about his endgoal unclear before the last showdown, which I think makes this Game Over an actual possibility for new players to stumble upon.
Because let's be honest, you'd have to be deliberately poking around for funny dialog if you tell Merlon to sort this mess out himself, repeatedly refuse to put on a space helmet in outer space, or tell the ruler of the Underwhere that you can't be bothered to find her beloved daughter.
Well in this Game Over I could have fallen for the first line. Once he starts throwing in other rewards it becomes obvious that he doesn’t actually want to help you because you shouldn’t expect to get a rare card or cologne from him after beating the game,
Moral of video: never trust people who put plants in your head.
Way to go, Mario! Now you and Luigi are the Super Brainwashed Brothers!

Of all the instant Game Over scenarios in this game I think this is the worst one. Why? Just think about it. Mario and his friends were the last hope to stop Count Bleck and ultimately Dimentio but by falling for Dimentio's tricks they are now nothing more then Dimentio's puppets. He then goes to defeat Count Bleck and overwhelm him with Mr. L and Mr. M thus killing Bleck and destroying every universe in existence and recreating all of them with him as a tyrant. It's the Mario equal of giving the powers of a god to Kefka. Bad idea.
Actually, when you think about it... This isn't the WORST.
TTYD. Final Boss.
They DO have one thing in common.
You choose to join an obviously evil person and you suffer for it.
+nopenopenope somuchnope I'm sure SPM made it look like that Dimentio could be this game's TEC (that is, the non-playable minion of the major villain who turns against him and aids Team Mario). While the Shadow Queen was presented from early on as this terrifying ancient force that's a threat to all that lives. Teaming up with Dimentio is far less of a "Did you seriously pick that?" option?
Dimentio was actually pretty reasonable up until he sprouted the Bros.
TTYD's final boss was just for the world, this is for all the dimensions, so thus this *is* the worst scenario for instant gameovers.
Little baby me watching my brother play this game was so excited for this part.
I honestly believed Dimentio was good, and I wanted to help him.
I didn't get the hint until Tippi kept repeatedly warning us, and he kept listing stupider things to try and convince us...
...We still got this game over anyway, since we had just saved and figured we might as well see what happens, but I was so sad.

I beat the game tonight. Looking back, I wonder if I should of at least said yes a few times just to let Dimentio know that I never truly hated him. Bleck DID lie to him about making a new world, which was what Dimentio was looking forward to. If there isn't any worlds left, who will be there for Dimentio to entertain? That's his only purpose as a jester, and he felt betrayed. So while I don't necessarily agree with Dimentio on MANY things, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him.

Imagine having an alternative ending where Mario & Luigi kill Bowser, Peach, and count bleck. And Mario turning into Mr. M. And seeing what new world Dimentio will create.

I'm very late but Luigi would probably be kept since he's the main ingredient in super dimentio. Without him dimentio would be a lot less powerful
And so dimentio ended all worlds with the chaos heart. Mario and Luigi became dimentio's servants for eternity. For everyone else it was......GAME OVER

Thing is, I don't think Dimentio could have actually done something like this. Without their free will, the Heros can't use the power of the Pure Hearts and as such they cannot break Count Bleck's barrier. If Dimentio truly did this, he would have lost. No, it makes much more sense for Dimentio to offer that even when knowing in advance that you are going to refuse
It never says that the heroes cant use the pure heart without free will
They already have the Hearts. The hearts are only restored, I believe, if you have enough hope.
