I always found the “bad” endings in Luigis Mansion harder to get than the good; there’s just so much treasure flying all over the place it’s almost impossible to not touch it by pure accident.
Ask Nicobbq. Save for the jewel at the very end of the game, he beat it without touching any treasure.

I like every Paper Mario bad ending, "Oh the world is ending and you want *me* to save it? Nah I got stuff to do. Hmm this ghost told me not to look in his diary, nah fuck him I'm doing it anyways! Hey it's that one guy who tried to kill me all those times, he says he'll give me great strength if I lend him my free will? Sure I don't need free will that's for losers!"
Maybe I'm just salty because I fell for them when I was younger, but some of them left a bad taste in my mouth.
With the Shadow Queen, what if I wanted to just pretend to be her servant so I could find a way to defeat her? I was clearly overthinking it when I thought this, but still...
With Dimentio, if he had the power to just zap plants on the heros' heads to take control of them, why didn't he just do that from the start? Even if he couldn't fully be trusted, Dimentio could've been a powerful ally against Count Bleck...

The scissors cutting Mario in The Origami King is probably the most gruesome death in the Mario series given the context.
Not to mention the "Assassin Effect" from Fire Emblem Awakening applies here.
Moral of the story: Never attempt to jump on giant scissors.
That giant scissors is the cheapest piece of shit for doing that tactic.

16:22 I think it's also technically a bad ending when you defeat only Dharkon, and Galeem fills the world with blinding light that (apparently) engulfs all the fighters with it.🤔☀
That Super Paper Mario ending is so amusing. I honestly want to see Dimentio show up in the actual 3D Mario universe. Just imagine the chaos he would cause.

Woah. I never noticed that.
I mean, the first 3 games were never meant to be a separate universe from the other Mario games. That retcon garbage started with Paper Jam/Sticker Star. But yes I want to see an official 3D appearance of Dimentio. Early Mario Party games & SM64DS used Paper Mario characters in the expected way, by just making 3D models for them. But since modern PM I'm afraid the best we'll ever get now is the characters appearing in flat paper form even next to 3D Mario characters. Nintendo wants to forget that the series used to just be normal Mario adventures shown to the player in that style.

That Mario Kart 64 bad ending is actually really hard to get since the game wouldn’t allow you to get anything lower than 4th in a race; get lower than that and it would give you the option of either retrying that race until you got a better placement or quitting the cup entirely.
Yeah, you'd have to be 4th in every race but one, where you can be 3rd (since three 4ths and a 3rd would be beaten by three 3rds and a 4th).

Half the fun of beating the original Warioland was finding out the different castles. Birdhouse, hollow tree, log cabin, different sized castles, and if you got every treasure and enough coins, even a moon with Wario's face.

Honestly, Origami King for me includes getting caught by the paper macho Chomp, or falling off of bridges and ledges in the final area. Paper Mario cut in half is one thing, he could possibly be saved later on. Turned to confetti? Not as much

The very first bad endings were in the classic Donkey Kong games:
• A Donkey Kong's defeat, Mario (now his life in ruins from one mischievous ape) schemes on turning from a carpenter to enslaving DK to make fortunes out of him with circus acts.
• After the heroic Donkey Kong Jr. defeats Mario, this later becomes a result of Mario losing his carpenter career to get demoted to a plumber job.
• This also lead to Pauline dumping Mario, and having to live with his younger brother.
Pauline never was made 4 Mario anyway since Peach outright *outdid* her though.
Weird how Pauline was gone for nearly 30 years, then suddenly turned up again in Odyssey.
@@JASpiring it's cuz Nintendo's CEO Miyamoto brought her back after paying off a *really high price* to a top singing VA who'd go & do the overall theme song for that game which would carry over to Smash Ultimate. 😐

Why do I feel like paper Mario games are very dark when it comes to bad endings?
Some other effects that cause an instant game over in the Thousand Year-Door include reading the Ghost Diary when Ghost T. tells you not to, becoming Shadow Queen's servant, etc.

No, this is after defeating both Galeem and then Dharkon in their respective worlds. You're faced with a choice of facing one or the other, but whichever you choose results in a bad ending where the one you don't face takes over.
The good ending requires defeating both at the same time.
