- Today I dig out my old Florida skiff and start the vintage Evinrude SPL 88. I show my process of dewinterizing your old outboard motor to get it running for the spring and summer months. I hope you enjoy and stay positive!!!

I recently boat a boat with a similar model V4 Johnson, Its been fantastic so far, Just replaced the impeller, gear oil, and did a paint job. The paintjob mine had before wasn't as patina as yours LOL.

I heard your starter spinning without popping up a few times. Starter is going bad you got to take it apart and clean the brushes
I will do that, it has done it since I got the motor. I have a spare starter from a 75hp I think that is the same I can put on the bot for a spare. Thanks for the comment!
when was that engine last serviced ?
It was used the season prior. Spark plugs and wires are a year or 2 old. Not sure or when a water pump impeller was done. Lower unit gear oil recently changed.
Let your hose run awhile before you put it on the motor bugs lizards etc get right in the hose 👪

Not much maintenance is required on 2 stroke outboards.
That tell tail doesnt look very promising
Maybe it’s time for a new impeller…I’ll keep and eye on the old girl.
@@TySlimVlogshell do it anyways. Its good preventative maintenance and easy to do.

why would you put stabiliser in ? you dont want to do shit ? show some pride and wash the boat
